It works

Pros: - Good quality components.
- Easy to setup pretty much hassle.
- I do like aesthetics but I wouldn't pay extra for it
- Asmedia USB controller.

Cons: -Asus auto installs software with Windows 10 installation it can be turned off in UEFI settings but it's on by default.
- its price isn't competitive considering the competitor boards do have better features for similar price.

Overall Review: Wasn't my first choice had a Gigabyte board that was malfunctioning decided to go back to Asus ol' reliable..

Pretty nice board.

Pros: - Beautiful Design
- Wifi Capability

Cons: - RGB near the IO is no where near bright as it looks on advertisement pictures.

Overall Review: I upgraded from Z370 Code to Z390 Code. My friend wanted to buy my board so I sold it and bought this motherboard. I personally adore the Code series. I like this board except that the RGB lighting is very dim on the section below where it says Maximus XI. I thought mine was defective and was going to RMA it but then I searched online to see tons of users complaining about the poor RGB implementation. my Z370 Maximus Code had beautiful and yet subtle RGB implementation. I expected more from this series but was honestly disappointed with the lighting. Besides this little problem, it's been a great motherboard and serving me well so far.

Pros: + Looks Great!
+ Great Bios!
+ Built in IO shield!
+ 2 Addressable RGB headers
+ 2 Non-Addressable RGB headers
+ On-board Start/Reset swtich
+ Nice location of both M.2 Slots
+ OC'd 9700K to 5Ghz no problem

Cons: - Asus's RGB software is not as good as corsairs but I wasn't expecting it to be.
- Expensive (There are definitely better spec'd boards for the price or less)
- Even though the VRM works well enough to get 5GHz on my 9700K would have been nice to see a higher quality VRM like Gigabyte's

Overall Review: I wish this board had been $100 cheaper along with the Formula and then I likely would have gotten the Formula instead and been much happier with my purchase. And I would be recommending the Code to peopl far more than I have been for anyone who isnt watercooling.

Flawed but functional

Pros: ASUS uefi

Cons: VRM and non-existent rgb/malfunctioning rgb headers

Overall Review: I got over my salt about the false advertising regarding the VRM design, but I can’t help but still be so supremely disappointed in the rgb implementation. You quite literally cannot tell this board lights up even in utter darkness. Additionally, the rgb headers behave erratically and as of today, won’t work at all. I’m past my RMA window and am quite literally about to order a new non-ASUS z390 board as this seems to be an issue that plagues all of the maximus models. Disappointing. But, hey, the uefi is fantastic, per usual and it holds my 9900k rock steady at 5.1, so it’s functional, I just have a lot invested in rgb hardware and it really bums me out to see my rig completely dark.

Died after 5 months, ASUS customer service virtually nonexistent

Pros: Motherboard worked fine for 4 months, now a problem with the audio jack

Cons: Motherboard continually freezes up for several seconds then goes back to working normally.

Overall Review: Motherboard worked fine for 4 months then started freezing for several seconds, several times an hour. I spoke to tech support which told me that I had a faulty motherboard. My 2 options were and RMA or advanced RMA. I chose advanced RMA since I cant be without my desktop for a month. I was then notified that they did not have any boards in stock to complete my request. Well here we are over a month later and still nothing from ASUS. I contacted them and was told that they still have no boards available to complete my RMA, and apparently I am supposed to contact them every day and spend 15-20 minutes of my time to check on the stock of the boards. So essentially it is luck of the draw whether or not I get a new board. I had read bad things about Asus customer support, but always liked their product. Well now my dislike of their customer support will always over shadow the product. If you are wise, stay away, very far away from ASUS, If you get a dud, they do nothing to help the situation.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Duane C,

Thank you for the feedback and making us aware of your experience. ASUS ensures all products are manufactured with materials that comply with industry's quality standard and each one undergoes intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. When the crash occurred what was the error code you were getting? Try updating your BIOS and drivers to the latest version they're located at ASUS Helpdesk, followed by clearing your CMOS. If the issues persist, feel free to contact me if you have any technical or general questions. You can reach me at cl-adrian@asus.com. Your case for reference is N190464418.

Notherboard died after a week, ASUS won't bear the fulkl cost of repairs

Pros: None, board refuse to power up after an ordinary shutdown. Light on the board continue to glow, so it clearly has power. Prior to this, board went to sleep and refused to boot/post until the cmos battery was removed and then re-inserted. Appears to be same problem now, but resetting CMOS no longer fixes the problem.

Cons: ASUS offered me "discounted" shipping to return it for repairs. This is unacceptable. There board is at fault, they must bear the full cost of warranty repairs.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Jason D,

We appreciate your feedback on this matter and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. ASUS provides warranty coverage in order to fix or repair any product that may stop working prematurely under normal usage. Does your fan spin as well? What are error code your receiving? Try taking the motherboard out of the case and set it on an insulated surface. Install JUST the CPU/cooler, and 1 stick of memory in the first slot. Plug in the 2 PSU cables to the MB. Connect the motherboard, and connect the monitor to the integrated video if it has it. Turn on the PSU. Momentarily short the 2 pins that the case's power button wires would connect to for starting. (You can also drag the case close enough to use the button's wires if you wish). If the issues persist, feel free to contact me if you have any technical or general questions. You can reach me at cl-adrian@asus.com. Your case for reference is N190379058.

ASUS Maximus XI RMA- Thank You Newegg!!

Pros: ASUS makes excellent products. I am confident the replacement MOBO will continue to function well for many years. Today I completed my new build with the replacement MB. This is the first time I have had to RMA a motherboard. I was really shocked when the first MB would not POST, but happy with the replacement. This is a solid board and has many desirable features.

Cons: The method Newegg uses to evaluate and ship RMA items is really poor! In MHO it is unacceptable to have to wait 2 weeks to receive a replacement for a defective item. In the end I can say I am a satisfied customer, but it took too long to arrive there! Please take this review seriously and consider upgrading your policies!!

Overall Review: I would definitely recommend this product!

Excellent, Solid, feature rich Z390 mobo

Pros: This board has a nice layout, only complaint would be one of the usb 3 internal headers faces towards the window side and is right beside the front panel connector

Looks are subjective, but to me this is easily one of the best looking Z390 boards out there

Easy setup, well detailed manual

Armoury Crate is a nice touch, helps you easily get your drivers after initial Windows install

Completely quiet and cool VRM area, even under extended stress testing

Bios is user friendly, easy to navigate

Overclocking exceeded my expectations, took my I9-9900k to 5.1ghz all core at 1.30 volts with just a couple keystrokes

The Supreme FX audio sounds crisp and clean with no distortion, cracks or noise

The argb headers at the top and bottom of the board make it easier to connect and plan out your lighting

Completely 100% rock solid stable, no weird issues, reboots, blue screens, etc....

Performance is what you would expect, no disappointments or surprises

Cons: The only real con I can think of would be price

Overall Review: I chose this board as the back-bone for my 12 year old son's first gaming system. I would have probably gone with the Hero XI but this board had the extra connections I needed for the case we chose. The build went without any issues and this board just simply did what it's supposed to do and did it flawlessly. Complete build specs.....
