Overall Review: I have an older serial device that works well and its not worth upgrading. Its for my homeautomation hobby and lots of people have to deal with this issue My concern was going "too cheap" on a serial coverter as there a number of stories about things that don't work This one works and is a no brainer. Is it really worth $5 less than this to roll the dice on your serial device working? No

Pros: I love it so much!

Cons: I couldn't love it more!

Overall Review: It is surely lovable!

Pros: Worked with windows 10, no need for hyperterm, just the free download of putty

Cons: requires adapter to get to console port of most managed switches.

Pros: The adapter cable is great. It has everything integrated into the DB9 connector. I just plugged it in and went to work.

Cons: It isn't the least expensive, but is worth it if you use this kind of a setup often. Would like to see a gender changer included, that would complete the package.

Pros: new motherboards seldom provide for old 232 devices, so get this adapter and use a USB port. (I have an old, temperamental PDA/Phone and this adapter did the trick when more expensive PCIe cards failed!)

Pros: It worked, the cable is pretty solid. I didn't need to register an account to get the drivers.

Cons: Win7 needs a driver you download from StarTech website.

Overall Review: Connected to a Misomex MP5000 plotting table that's ~25 years old. The cable/drivers worked fine, set it up exactly as I had the 10yearold D*** PC setup.

Pros: I've been using these off and on for more than a year on various devices, never ran into an issue with it. I primarily use them to work on various pieces of networking equipment, and it works every time. No drivers to load on Windows 7/8.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Pros: Works. Works in Win7Pro64. Works INSIDE Win7 running an XP virtual machine with ancient software. Consistently. Remembers what port it is. Consistently.

Cons: We have 4. One died after about a year in constant use. So they are not indestructable

Overall Review: As others have noted, different drivers behave differently. We had no trouble with the driver that shipped with the device in Jan 2014.
