The VT6307 series chips integrates a host controller with a PCI-Express interface to provide fast, flexible connectivity to computer systems with more peripherals and consumer electronics.

The IEEE 1394 Fast Serial Bus (commonly known as Firewire) is a PCI peer-to-peer interconnect system and is widely recognized as the primary interface for digital audio and video equipment. The IEEE 1394a configuration supports hot-swappable quick connections to printers, hard drives, multimedia devices, and consumer electronics such as game controllers and video cameras.

The VT6307 series host controller provides a performance serial connection to the IEEE 1394 and 1394a serial bus by performing the Link and Physical layers.
