Description
The Grove - I2C Thermocouple Amplifier (MCP9600) is a thermocouple-to-digital converter with integrated cold-junction and I2C communication protocol. This module can used in conjunction with a k-type thermocouple. The thermocouples have a much larger measurement range than thermistors. For example, this k-type thermocouple on our website has a measurement range of -50 to +600.

What is MCP9600
Microchip Technology Inc's MCP9600 converts thermocouple EMP to degree Celsius with integrated cold-junction compensation. This device corrects the thermocouple nonlinear error characteristics of eight thermocouple types and outputs ± 1.5 accurate temperature data for the selected thermocouple. The correction coefficients are derived from the NIST ITS-90 Thermocouple Database.
The MCP9600 digital temperature sensor comes with user-programmable registers which provide design flexibility for various temperature sensing applications. The registers allow user-selectable settings, such as Low-Power modes for battery-powered applications, adjustable digital filter for fast transient temperatures and four individually programmable temperature alert outputs which can be used to detect multiple temperature zones.
Alert function
We also provide the alert function for this module, you can use the progarammable alert pin to provide an interrupt signal to the controller. There are four programmable temperature alert outputs: Monitor hot- or cold-junction, temperatures, detect rising or falling temperatures and up to 255°C of programmable hysteresis.
