Thanks to advances in IC and motor design, the AP183 is superior to AP181 in every way. It can achieve higher maximum speed of 1, 500Rpm (vs. 1, 200Rpm) while consuming less power at only 3.6W (vs. 5.4W ). for quietness, the AP183 can spin down to 400Rpm, which is practically inaudible, whereas the AP181 could go down to only 500Rpm via undervolting.
