- 1) Note: This cable is not compatible with SFF-8639 (U.2) and SATA interfaces.; 2) The SFF-8482 is a 29-pin plastic-shell connector, with 15 pins for power and two additional sets (7 pins each) for SAS data signals.; 3) The cable is a UL2725 compliant 26AWG SATA cable (PVC sheath).; 4) A common application of the SFF-8482 connector is SAS backplanes. Using this cable, internal SAS hard drives can be used as external hard drives.; 5) Note: While SATA hard drives can be inserted into the SAS SFF-8482 connector (even when inserting a SATA hard drive into the SFF-8482 backplane, a SAS HBA card connection is required for operation), SAS hard drives cannot be inserted into the SATA interface.

The SFF-8482 is a 29-pin connector with a plastic body, and configured with 15 pins that support the power requirements of the drive, and (2) groups of 7 pins that carry the SAS data signals.
