ORICO 6628US3-C-BK USB 3.0 SATA HDD Dual Bay Docking External Enclosure with Clone Function for 2.5” and 3.5” Hard Drive or SSD (Black)

Pros: Supports two disks, USB3, and the disk duplicating feature is neat.

Cons: With two disks in this docking station, the disks will sporadically disappear in Windows. I bought this to add a couple additional disks for a MediaCenter setup, and because the disks are dropping (at least once a day), this docking bay is completely worthless to me.

Pros: Clone function works without computer++ 2 additional drive bays++ Quiet and easy to use++

Cons: Transfer rates are no where near advertised. I almost think I can get data off of a CD faster!

Overall Review: It's better than nothing but don't buy this thinking you will be getting blinding USB 3.0 speeds. I just don't see it.

Pros: Stylish, handy very capable...

Cons: ... When it works. Unit sometimes works, other times repeatedly disconnects, then reconnects. This with two drive, or one. This is using Windows 7,8, 8.1. Also the same with usb3 & usb2.

Pros: inexpensive, but you get what you pay for with this item, made and designed in China

Cons: Doesn't work out of the box. Loses connection to drive in the middle of cloning. Cloning within unit just stops never finishes - 10 hours later. Cut it off. Designed and made in China doesn't cut it. Go look elsewhere. Just had to spend 30% of the cost of the unit to return it for refund. Obviously I am not going to buy another one.

Pros: None

Cons: I may have been able to give this device a proper review had it worked at all. I plugged it in to the power source and turned it on. I then connected the SATA cable of the docking station, and nothing happened. I tried everything, I unplugged it from it's power source and restarted it countless times. I did the same for the SATA Cable and nothing worked. I looked online and it said that Windows 8.1 did not support it at the time. I'm not sure if it was my OS or the bay itself. Either way, this was a huge disappointment of a purchase.

Overall Review: Customer Service and returning this was also a nightmare. Shipping and Restocking fees cost me over half of what I payed for it. Newegg customer service has usually been reliable, and I trust this website to only sell me quality products it believes in, but this drive was a huge let down.

Pros: Easy to clone drives, USB 3 interface.

Cons: Automatic clone will fail if either drive has any issues (bad block, problem with file system, etc). No progress indicator.

Overall Review: I do not care to use the automatic drive clone function. I have found that if there are any issues with either drive the clone will fail, and there is no way to know what caused the failure. There is also no indicator to show progress so there is no way to tell how long the process will take. I have had better success using a USB connection to the PC (and USB3 works well) and using a program like Acronis to do the actual cloning. Acronis will also have issues if the drives have problems but at least it will tell you so you can attempt to correct them. (I always run a chkdsk on source drives first, and Acronis will let you skip bad blocks.) Overall, a decent unit that will get the job done.

Pros: has two slots

Cons: Frequently disconnects the drives--in my case, that means Lightroom crashes and I have to restart it and wait for the disk to be checked. As a professional photographer, I can't afford those random, frustrating interruptions and the loss of time. Support is not helpful. Sent me a URL to an archive file they called a "software driver" that was actually a firmware update with no English instructions. After deciphering the Chinese cartoon they provided, I got an alert that the required file was not even present in the archive they provide. Follow-up email to ORICO got no reply. They will waste your time having you test their hunches about what might be wrong, rather than fixing a problem that, it turns out, has been widely reported.

Overall Review: AVOID ORICO

Pros: Handy little device for cloning, transferring large numbers of files, or running hard drive checks. Had disconnect problems early on, but found that the problem was a driver issue with the 3.0 USB card that it was connected to, and not the docking station. After a driver update to the card, 3.0 use has been problem free ever since. Takes about 2 hours to transfer 1TB of data to a drive attached to the docking station.

Cons: None to speak of.

Overall Review: It would have been nice to have individual power buttons for each drive, rather than one for both. Small inconvenience for an otherwise good product.
