Those looking for the ultimate in CD playback from an audiophile-grade component will be impressed with Onkyo DX-C390 high-precision, multi-bit D/A converter and 128 x oversampling. Others looking for convenience will thrill at the sight of 6-disc capability, 6 repeat modes, 40 track programming—and no worries about interruptions to your music, with the ability to change 5 discs while the last one is still playing. All will marvel at the crystal-clear playback, enhanced by our exclusive VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry), for a smoother sounding audio signal. Just as crucial to your sonic enjoyment is Direct Digital Path, a heavily shielded, high-quality cable that protects the delicate audio signal from noise emitted by the surrounding circuits. Housed in a sturdy chassis graced with a brushed aluminum front panel, the Onkyo DX-C390 is ready to provide hours of uninterrupted music—for the soundtrack to your life.
The Onkyo DX-C390 not only plays regular CDs, but also your home-burned CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and even long-playing MP3 discs! This changer also sports a unique 6-disc carousel design that lets you change five discs while the sixth keeps playing. Next Selection lets you “cue up” the next song you want to hear without interrupting the song that’s currently playing, and the remote gives you easy control of your music from across the room — its direct disc and track access lets you quickly locate exactly the track you want to hear.
Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC)
The Onkyo DX-C390 uses Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry to remove stray pulse noise for a smoother, richer analog output signal.
Direct Digital Path
Direct Digital Path signal routing provides a shorter, cleaner path from the signal processing PC board to the digital outputs than typically found on other players. This direct signal path routing is used to prevent corruption of the signal by noise from the ICs and power supply.
MP3 Playback
This Onkyo DX-C390 unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R, and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level 2, Romeo, or Joliet formats. MP3 files with a sampling rate of 8-48 kHz and a bit-rate of 8-320 kbps are supported. Fixed bit-rate MP3 files are recommended, however, variable bit-rate MP3 files are supported. Each disc can have a maximum of 499 files and 99 folders.
Disc Exchange
You can exchange up to 5 discs while playing a sixth; once the drawer is open, 2 CDs can be changed, then you must use the Disc Skip button to remove the remaining three.
Next Selection
This feature allows you to choose the next track, folder, or disc for playback, without interrupting the current song playing.
Connections (RI)
RI remote control input and output mini-jacks allow you to transmit remote codes from a compatible Onkyo unit to this unit.

Housed in a sturdy chassis graced with a brushed aluminum front panel, the DX-C390 is ready to provide hours of uninterrupted musicfor the soundtrack to your life.
Key Technology Features:
192 kHz/24bit AD Converters: Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters, that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD.
RI (Remote Interactive): With Onkyo's exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) system capability, you can integrate and operate all compatible components through a single remote control. What's more, RI capability enables you to simply connect the iPod to your receiver through Onkyo's RI Dock for the iPod (DS-A1). Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can't be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music.
VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry): Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can't remove it completely. Previously only found on our high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result a virtually noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source to bring out even the most subtle of nuances in your music, movie soundtracks and even MP3s.
MP3 Playback: This audio format achieves about a 10:1 compression over conventional CD audio. What does this mean? You can store many more songs using the same amount of space. For example, a standard 650MB CD can hold more than 200 songs in MP3 format. Various bitrates allow for higher or lower quality, depending on the desired sound quality of the final recording.
Designed for your stereo or home-theater audio component system, this CD player uses a reliable carousel changer mechanism that allows sequential or programmable play of up to 6 discs Incredibly wide frequency response range from 5 Hz to 20, 000Hz with a THD of 0.005 % Direct Track and Direct Disc access Disc intro Scan Proprietary AccuPulse Quartz system Onkyo RI Remote Control 110 Volt power
