Pros: – Guest Network – NAT sharing – DD-WRT support – Was good while it lasted – Full signal strength within ~15ft. radius bubble w/ one wall/ceiling in between
Cons: Even with a USB 3.0, external HDD speeds are very slow, no where near 300Mbps. Tested router with 4 wireless devices connected with data continuously streaming between devices 24/7. 16 days into the test (was going to test router for 30 days) and the router stops working. Had to reboot twice within those 16 days.
Overall Review: Netgear should use more specific wording when stating WiFi range and USB storage speeds. What is considered Good, Better, Best and Ultimate? 1ft? 5ft? 10ft? 50ft? Without specific numbers, customers have no way of knowing what type of router they need for their household.
Pros: none
Cons: drops connection on wired and wireless, has random power offs and the firmware hangs when i make new settings. I have spent days trying to get even a couple hours of use out of this item and I am very un-impressed. the bottom line is DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER.
Overall Review: my unit looks different from the one pictured and there is a plastic bezel on the side that drives me crazy, it blocks my view of the status lights. Also the reset button is on the back, but the router also has wall mount screw holes on the back. So if you wall mount it you will have to take it down to reset it.
Pros: Originally worked well when new.
Cons: Wireless capability suddenly dropped. When checking the router I found it so hot it had scorched the plastic mat it was on. If it hadn't been for that it might have set fire to the room.
Pros: The wired connections seem to work just fine
Cons: At first, it would only drop the wireless conection every once in awhile and only for a short second. Now, after about 2 months of owning it, it drops wirless constantly. It's crazy. Oh, it doesn't have wall mounts. I guess they figure EVERYBODY is going to just set this on thier desk.
Overall Review: I had an old D-Link WBR1310 that I got when IT was a fairly new model. Every once in a great while, It wanted a reboot (like twice a year once in awhile) but it served me well for several years before it gave up. I replaced it with this and am way disapointed.
Pros: Dyndns support, firmware updates a breeze.
Cons: I upgraded from my preivous Netgear router because I needed USB storage support. Sadly the USB storage feature is so slow it's unusable. The default method of connection is samba (windows sharing) and on a Mac the avg speed is ~500KBs! Impossible to configure time machine backups at that speed. The issue exists regardless of wired or wireless. If you enable the ftp support then the speed improves to 5MBs! So it's an issue just with the devices samba support. I have to return it as it's essentially unusable at this speed. Pity too because I've always used and promoted their products.
Overall Review: Stay away if you are looking for a wireless storage solution!
Pros: It worked for 4 months sharp as per the advertised technical specification.
Cons: It died in 4 months. No wireless signal, no wired signal. All sorts of remedies as resetting it with a reset button, powering down and up didn't help. Customer service is horrible. The automated system gets you into an infinite loop for selecting options, so I ended up navigating from one menu to another, then back, etc. Live person chat online is unavailable because of out of 90 days period for a basic technical support since the date of purchase. So much for the advertised "Life time warranty". I can't even get an RMA from Netgear. They used to be better and more responsible for their products. The quality control was much better as well. Not anymore.
Overall Review: Bought a Belkin router with a 2 year warranty, as opposed to what turns to be Netgear's 90 days warranty. Shame on you Netgear.
Pros: Inexpensive, very stable once you install DDWRT
Cons: Even the latest stock Netgear firmware from 2013 this is unstable and will cause connections to "cycle" frequently which is a pain. This means it disconnects then connects again after a few seconds. Only fix is to restart (unplug, wait plug it back in), then it works fine for a few weeks or a few days depending on its "mood". I only get -64dbi on 2.4ghz band and -71dbi on the 5ghz band upstairs. With my Linksys E4200 with ddwrt with stock settings gets -55dbi and -60dbi respectively. Both mounted in the same location running on the same channels. This means the Netgear maintains a 50-60Mbps connection and Linksys will maintain a 72-114Mbps connection.
Overall Review: If you can afford something that costs twice as much range, just get an ASUS, it will have far better range as long as you use inSSIDer or something to figure out which channels are open.

Pros: It has NAT and DDWRT Easy guest network Decent signal if close to router
Cons: Poor signal when just a little further away than "same room," crashed on me twice, and multiple connectivity issues. I am supposed to be reviewing this product as an EggXpert but I am so frustrated with it that I'm quitting now and I'm going to reject any further router reviews for awhile. I don't want to screw with any more of them thanks to this product! Buyer beware!
Overall Review: Netgear is usually my preferred brand for routers, but they have missed the boat on this one
