The Kingston KC600 SKC600/1024G is a 1TB 2.5-inch SATA III internal SSD for desktop and notebook users upgrading a compatible SATA system, with sequential speeds up to 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write.

    Recommended For

    • Owners of an older laptop or desktop with a 2.5-inch SATA drive bay who want to replace a hard drive with solid-state storage for faster booting, loading, and everyday file access.
    • Users upgrading a compatible SATA system who want a 1TB replacement or secondary drive; reviewers found the KC600 performs near the top of the 2.5-inch SATA category.
    • People who regularly write large files to a SATA SSD and want sustained write performance: PCWorld found the KC600 maintained its top write speed during a 450GB file transfer.
    • Users whose compatible system and security setup can use hardware-based drive encryption, including AES 256-bit, TCG Opal, or eDrive.

    Real-World Use Scenarios

    • Replacing a compatible laptop or desktop’s hard drive with the KC600 can make startup and everyday tasks like opening apps feel more responsive; the improvement depends on the rest of the system.
    • Adding a 1TB drive to a PC with a compatible 2.5-inch SATA bay provides room for a large collection of games and applications, with SSD storage helping reduce storage-related loading delays.
    • For moving photos, videos, or other large files on a desktop or notebook, the KC600 offers consistent SATA SSD storage; a review found it maintained write speed during a long, 450GB file transfer.
    • In an older computer that has a 2.5-inch SATA drive bay but no suitable M.2 slot, the KC600 can serve as a storage upgrade, provided the system supports a SATA drive of this size.
    • For a compatible computer configured to use drive encryption, the KC600’s hardware-based encryption can help protect stored data; encryption must be enabled and supported by the system or security software.
