Pros: First off, I'm upgrading from a I7-4790K (4.7GHz OCed). The 4790K I have is 5 years old. That CPU is a true beast, but I felt like it was time to get a new MB/CPU/RAM due to age. So, that said, I see a huge difference in desktop work and games. I mainly game. I don't understand why everyone says these CPU's run hot. I'm running stable at 5.2 on an AIO and this CPU doesn't even break 40c-70c in some benchmarks or games. It runs way cooler than my 88w 4790K. I am using an Aorus Ultra MB. If you are coming from a way older generation Intel or AMD, this CPU will not disappoint!
Cons: Cons. I didn't want to wait for however long for the KF series, so I paid the extra for the K. That has nothing to due with how this CPU performs. So, not really a con. (I tried to find one)
Overall Review: Overall, this is a fantastic CPU. I've owned both AMD and Intel through out my 42 years. If you are coming from a much older Intel gen CPU, I recommend it fully. If you have 9th gen I7-I9, I wouldn't recommend.
Pros: I never seen anything this fast! I am addicted to building these now. I was a certfied Master Tech I could fix anything on a car or pick-up truck. But my specialty was electronic controls for cars and trucks. So I am 70yrs. old and I still have s passion for this stuff. I built my frist computer in 2004 it is a lot simpler now than then. But this stuff has gotten so fast it is crazy. THAT is it. It is a hobby to me now and enjoy this stuff good luck all!!
Overall Review: I give this cpu a 10 I wonder what gen. 12 is going to be like?
Pros: - Great performance
- Readily available
- 5 GHz all cores is attainable without pushing voltage/temps too hard
Cons: - No PCIe 4.0 support, though that only matters for I/O intensive storage workloads
Overall Review: As others have said, this is a cheaper and more readily available alternative to the i9-10900K. Performance gains that the 10900K might have are likely to be imperceptible in the real world. Benchmarks show that this CPU can even outperform the 10900K due to how voltage/temperature throttling is handled.
Thinking about the future, Rocket Lake S (11th Gen CPUs) will be the only upgrade for LGA 1200 platforms, and those are expected to ship with 8 instead of 10 cores. Higher IPC and PCIe 4.0 might be worth it for some workloads, but this is probably the "end of the line" for top-tier Intel CPUs until they can shrink their desktop die below 14 nm.
Pros: - Temps under 63C under load w/ 240mm AIO, med pump speed, stock clocks
- fully unlocked my 3080, frames considerably higher coming from an OC'd 7700k.
ex: FC5 I'd get 120fps on low settings @ 3440x1440, now I'm chilling at 130-144FPS on Ultra Settings. Ex2: CP2077 ran at 60FPS Ultra w/ 7700k, now sitting around 85fps. (QUALITY dlss, RT off)
-No OCs and also have not touched the 420W firmware update for my card. Likely more performance to be had.
Cons: -Expensive (honestly if you're looking at the CPU you're not worried about pricing)
-New Socket type
Overall Review: Experience is great so far. The new socket allowed for a RAM upgrade, further lifting performance.
Happy to do this upgrade even with the 11th gen processors on the horizon. From what I've heard it looks like the next i9 is going to loose a couple cores, which could impact some people (although likely not gaming people). Amazing processor. No regerts.
Pros: HAS ONBOARD VIDEO.
Its fast as hell
Cons: Virtually none.
Overall Review: Cant buy a graphics card at a reasonable price right now, Thanking past me for purchasing
this cpu with onboard graphics. I cant play every game out there and the ones I do dont run
super awesome but hey, its better than nothin rn.
Pros: -Straight out of box speed is fast
Overall Review: I have been running this CPU for about a month now with no issues at all. It is running stock @ 4.7-4.9 and boost up to 5.3 this is also with my ASUS board using standard Intel power limits. I use a Noctua NH-U12A for air cooling and under stress it doesn't go above 74C using HWiNFO64 to monitor each core.
Pros: -Just a small bump in the BIOS and its essentially the same as the 10900k, but for slightly less in cost
-Been really great for gaming and broadcasting
Overall Review: Would definitely recommend to others, especially if these go down in price when newer Intel and AMD cpus start hitting the market
Pros: Hot diggity dog, this is fast.
Note: in case it isn't obvious, this cpu doesn't ship with a cooler. You'll have to provide your own, as well as your own thermal paste. Just something to be aware of. I didn't deduct any stars due to this.
Overall Review: I would recommend!
