The Intel Core i3 processor family with Intel HD Graphics delivers a revolutionary new architecture for an unparalleled computing experience.
As the first level in Intel's new processor family, the Intel Core i3 processor is the perfect entry point for a fast, responsive PC experience.
This processor comes equipped with Intel HD Graphics, an advanced video engine that delivers smooth, high-quality HD video playback, and advanced 3D capabilities, providing an ideal graphics solution for everyday computing.
A smart choice for home and office, the Intel Core i3 processor also features Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, which enables each core of your processor to work on two tasks at the same time, delivering the performance you need for smart multitasking. Do not let too many open applications slow you and your PC down. Get smart performance now.
Pros: Outperforms previous Intel Core i3 and Core2Duo processors on almost every task. Almost as powerful as quad-core i5-750 but much cheaper. Integrated HD-Graphics excellent for Blu-ray & HD video.
Cons: Not a con, really, but make sure your chosen motherboard has HDMI-out jack to take full advantage of HD graphics & Blu-ray. Also, check motherboard for digital audio-out jack (optical or coax) as some boards only have analog audio-out.
Overall Review: To some other reviews here: Push-pin mounting for heatsink/fan is easy, just push down each corner 'til it snaps into place. If you leave one corner up, it will overheat gradually. Also, if you put it in an ITX mini-case then add a discrete graphics card the whole system will overheat (never use discrete G-card in a mini-case!) Also, Intel and all tech reviews state clearly that this cpu is not overclockable, so why buy it then give it a low rating here because it won't overclock? Previous models i3-530 and i3-540 still available and they overclock like crazy! Also, pressing down hard on center of heatsink fan will damage the bearings and make the fan noisier as one reviewer found out. Try mounting cpu and heatsink/fan before placing motherboard into case so you can clearly see if heatsink push-pins are locked on back of board. But don't bear down on the center of fan! To reviewer who said his memory was "downclocked" from 1333 to 1066, enable XMP in BIOS for full speed.
