Pros: Solid build quality... metal exterior (seems to be metal-plated plastic to keep it light).
Not a gosh darn touchscreen (that's the most extreme language NewEgg will let me use).
No buttons on the sides of the machine - the power button is the top right key on the keyboard (side buttons are a pet peave of mine since I always hit them by accident if I have to hold the machine in my hands).
Good speakers and low latency camera for a laptop.
No discrete GPU (I list this as a pro since optimus support on Linux has always been and still is a bit of a mess)
Solid Intel loadout (Intel CPU and chipset, Intel WIFI 6 + Bluetooth) so core hardware generally works quite well in Linux.
M.2 SSD is Intel, which is a surprisingly high quality brand to find stock in a laptop (even though I replaced mine with a 2TB Samsung SSD).
Cons: No 2.5" SATA bay, and only 1 M.2 NVME slot (which comes populated). This isn't really a complaint - it was a design decision to keep things thin and light... just know what you are getting. There is no room for adding additional storage; you can only replace the existing M.2 SSD with a larger one.
Fingerprint reader doesn't work in Linux... would be nice if they made drivers available, but they don't advertise Linux support so I can't mark them for it. Also, this is the only thing that isn't working perfectly out of the box in Debian 11, which is pretty darn good.
USB Type-A ports on the right side of the laptop are USB 2.0... the only SS port (USB 3.2) is on the left of the machine. I get it... these are on a separate board internally and connected to the mainboard over a ribbon. Meeting the USB 3.0 spec would be nearly impossible with that arrangement, but still, it would be nice if all USB ports nowadays were SuperSpeed.
Overall Review: I would certainly recommend this computer, and especially to anyone looking for a good laptop to run Linux. Some additional miscellaneous info:
The spot for the M.2 drive is clearly intended for a pretty standard 2280 form factor. I don't think you will be able to get a larger one in there and there certainly won't be a screw hole in the right spot to secure the drive.
The M.2 drive is not flush mounted to the mainboard, as is common practice for some manufacturers. This means that you could probably put a double-sided M.2 NVME drive in the machine if you wanted to (e.g. the 4TB Corsair MP510). I didn't try this but it looked like it would work.
The WIFI/Bluetooth module is the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201.
The webcam seems to be made by Azurewave.
Pros: Runs smooth and quiet. Powerful enough to run my Adobe suite and make my job a little easier.
Overall Review: Highly recommend this product
Pros: I bought this to replace an Asus that I bought almost 10 years ago, and it has exceeded all of my expectations! Fast, lightweight, great graphics (I'm not a gamer) and plenty of storage for most users.
Overall Review: I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone that needs a thin and light laptop that performs well and has a full sized keyboard and a reasonably large monitor.
Pros: i7 11 gen
Cons: No packing material, just intricately folded card board, and we watched the mailman drop it 3 times crossing the street. No damage, amazingly...
Overall Review: Yes, definitely. 6 months later it is still the best laptop on the market for $900
Pros: Laptop is significantly faster than my old one, runs CAD and computational fluid dynamics simulations with ease. MyAsus is a very helpful dashboard to manage your computer.
Cons: Arrow keys could be larger for people with large hands.
Overall Review: Highly Recommend! Amazing laptop for the price.
Pros: Nice light laptop! Fast. Plenty of RAM.
Nice screen, nice keyboard touch.
Cons: 1. DOES NOT ACCEPT 2ND SSD - NO SLOT. I did not do enough research - some reviews and specs said it had a second slot for a second SSD - NOT SO! (I did use a 512GB MicroSD card for backup.)
2. 1st Laptop was DOA - charger was good, laptop dead.
3. Backlit keyboard could be much brighter
Overall Review: I would purchase again, if the specs fit the task.
Pros: Screen looks great, very fast. No comment on battery because it is plugged in most of the time.
Cons: At first I was put off by the keyboard lighting, you really need to turn it off if room is lit because at some angles it is hard to see lettering with back light on. Not a big deal.
Wish it had a better camera, has 720 not 1080.
Overall Review: I wanted this for work and it is wonderful for that. No gaming on it so no opinion there. Liked it because of I7, 16gb ram, and 512gb nvme.
Pros: This laptop is very thin and lightweight. Setup was intuitive and so far my son is very happy with it. This was purchased for a college student and I feel it will serve him well.
Overall Review: I would recommend
