HGST Ultrastar 7K600012/6/2015 8:45:45 AM
Pros: Bought the 4TB SATA version, using in RAID array. These drives are quiet, and as fast as you are going to get in a spinning disk. Availability on these is still somewhat constrained, but getting better, and so is the price, but....
Cons: ...they are still too expensive for what they are. In just a few years we won't need spinning disk hard drives as capacities of solid state drives improve and costs come down.
Overall Review: Newegg had the best price, was a bit concerned ordering hard drives from newegg though because in the past they would not properly pack them and had a lot of DOA RMAs for hard drives, this isnt a reflection of the manufacturer, just the retailer middle man not understanding how to pack and ship fragile components.

Poor shipping protection but works fine otherwise, Excellent Customer Service9/22/2018 8:28:01 AM
Pros: Good deal for the speed and storage size, and works fine if it is not damaged during shipping.
Excellent customer service in providing quick support during the return process.
Cons: The original HDD I received had a bent SATA connector, the replacement was damaged during transit, made loud clicking noises and was not recognized by the BIOS. I then got a refund and purchased it again, the final HDD now works like a dream.
It is as good as a mechanical drive can get2/22/2019 7:57:57 AM
Pros: This drive is truly enterprise grade. Really a 24/7 drive. It was priced right, arrived when promised, was properly packed so no travel damage could occur and Newegg used FEDEX, so they were willing to leave the package on my porch so I did not have to take off from work. Never ship anything with the post office.
Cons: It is pricy but worth it. I am installing it in my main desktop and retiring an older version of the same drive with over 16,000 hours on it.
Overall Review: After the wonderful experience of buying this drive from NEWEGG I just bought a second one. Definitely a no glitch experience.

Seems to be great... bit loud though.8/11/2020 12:07:27 AM
Pros: The good; 4TB, cheap, got here fast, S.M.A.R.T. check all clean, it seems great. Fast, nice HD.
Cons: The bad(?); It has powered off once on me and cycled, and makes a thunk noise. The former almost certainly was just a loose connection, and probably related to the latter... which based on all the reviews and talk I can find online, seems to largely be due to vibration. The thing is very much a heavy duty vibrating piece of machinery and I can feel it by touching the outside of the case, as well as hear it. I don't think it's failing, but you know, covering your bases when reviewing new hardware.
Overall Review: Seems pretty good! I don't mind the noise-assuming I'm correct and it's just noise, which so far so good on. (Though lord I had a bad rush for a hot minute there when I was re-seating that connection to be sure. You usually do that just to be certain!) It's been fast, big and if it makes funny noises I personally don't mind-apparently a lot of reports of that.
Here's hoping it's just funny noises though-might have to change this if not.

I didn't order a used drive.5/24/2019 2:47:50 PM
Pros: We'll see how this holds up.... seeing as it is used.
Cons: This already had a partition formatted...
Overall Review: I'm redoing partitions.
Any problems I'm raising hell.
