Great RAM! 7/23/2017 9:31:44 AM

Pros: G.SKILL quality with no issues out of the box. My system is very stable and rock solid. I had no issues setting it to run and 2133. Plays nice with my AMD FX6300 CPU and an MSI 970 Gaming MOBO.

Cons: Detected at 1866 by default.

Overall Review: I upgraded from 1866 G.SKILL sniper RAM to this and noticed minimal improvements in performance but it's very stable now with no issues to report. My CPU runs better overclocked now as well. Games run a touch smoother than before but mostly they don't crash anymore.

Had problems at first & then it just worked 4/4/2017 7:04:39 AM

Pros: 2133 MHz memory. Duplicate to what I put in my build back in 2014. Relatively inexpensive .

Cons: When I first put the memory in (after cleaning the computer thoroughly) it would try to start up and then die and then try to start up and die, etc. Pulled the new memory and everything back to normal. Wrote to G.Skill asking a simple question - are the sticks all the same whether 2 sticks of 4GB or 4 sticks of 4GB. Got back a nonsense answer that essentially said No one can not depend on the memory sticks being the same. Luckily I had gone and tried the sticks one at a time and they worked, then both and it worked and then put the old sticks in the new slots and everything worked. Don't know what the problem was originally. Maybe dirt in the slot causing problems.

Overall Review: Perhaps G.Skill could actually read the question instead of getting a somewhat close canned response. This is their response "Mixing kits is not a guaranteed result. For high performance RAM, simply because the specs are the same, does not mean they are compatible. " What that says to me is don't buy G.Skill because you can't depend on a PC3 17000 stick being the same.

Manufacturer Response:
.
Hi Lloyd

Glad to hear you got the RAM at a good price and they are working well in your system. RAM is unlike any other hardware in a computer. Each chip and module can vary depending on batch. Especially for high frequency kits, it is imperative they are perfectly matching to reach the rated specifications. For this reason, we sell complete kits of RAM that are guaranteed capable. Otherwise, we could simply sell individual modules and you can purchase as many as you need. By mix matching multiple kits, the rated specs are no longer guaranteed. This is the nature of DRAM, it is not exclusive to G.Skill. You can check or use other manufacturers to verify this information. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

This won an award for a reason... 1/2/2017 7:44:16 PM

Pros: Flawless RAM. From the day I bought my first 8gb 7-11-13 to now they are running strong. I just ordered another 8gb for a grand total of 16gb.

I have started video editing with my Gopro Hero4+ Black and the 4k videos and large amounts of rendering I do is time-consuming with only 8gb of RAM. I know these 2 new sticks will boost the process and make BF1 that much smoother ;)

Cons: I dont have the technical know how to know if there is any downside to these sticks of RAM.

Overall Review: I would absolutely recommend this RAM if you can still support it. I am back after 3+ years ordering my next pair.

Updated Review - Fantastic Memory 2/28/2016 7:16:07 AM

Pros: Updated Feb 2016: Replaced power supply and updated ASUS Bios and the memory works with standard voltage and 2133 settings in BIOS. I have since added 2 more sticks and am running 24gb in all four slots and stable - GSkill solid as a rock.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to update my review because I do not think I gave G.Skill a fair review. I was able to get the memory running stable at 2133 on my FX8350. Even though the FX8350 memory controller only supports 1866, it is not unusual to run 2133 DDR3 at full speed with the FX processor. After testing my FX8350, I found the max I could OC was 4.1Ghz. Unusual for an FX8350 which is known to OC to as high as 5Ghz. I upped the voltage on the CPU, NB, and memory and set everything to auto except for the memory timings. I set the memory to 2133 with 13-13-13-35 timings and it runs stable. Since then I have dropped the speed to 1866 and timings to 10-11-10-30 as recommended by ASUS. Memory runs fine at 1866 and with lower timings the benchmarks are better than running at 2133.

Cons: Not really any cons, I should have checked the Asus website for DDR3 2133 memory compatibility.

Overall Review: UPDATE - Feb 2016
Replaced my power supply in January and updated BIOS and GSkill DDR3 is now running at 2133 completely stable. No problems. My random freezes and blue screens were caused by the Corsair power supply. Replaced with trusty 7 year old Antec and systems is completely stable.

After checking the ASUS website I found the G.Skill 1600 and 1866 are compatible with M5A97 r2.0 but not 2133. My fault for not checking the memory compatibility on the ASUS site. Sure enough when I checked the forums, the only DDR3 2133 that folks were able to run at 2133 was the ones listed on ASUS documents. The G.Skill runs fine at the ASUS recommended setting of 1866 10-11-10-30 at 1.5 volts.

So I changed my mind and admit I was a little hasty in my first review. For the cost and the performance I am getting running this memory at 1866, I would say it was a really good deal.

Nothing Wrong. Dirt Cheap for the price and speed 2/1/2016 10:08:28 PM

Pros: Less than $50 when I bought them. Not even on sale. Just dirt cheap for memory, even with prices now

Cons: Uh, nothing. No instabilities, no random fires from tweaking voltage. Nothing
