Foxconn A7GM-S AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: The motherboard just works for gaming. I am not an overclocker with no intent of doing it for this build. It adjusts the voltages easily to the correct stock range and accepts the very tight timings of my 8gb of Geil Black Dragon RAM. This thing will be a perfect home theatre PC motherboard, but more importantly is that it functions just as well for gaming. If you have concerns on that, I can assure you that this thing will facilitate performance gaming very well. I have not faced any issues with drivers or stability, and the motherboard works very ideally.

Cons: Doesn't include a case badge? haha. Either I lost mine, or it doesn't come with one. One real issue. I had to do a bios update to keep it from hanging on boot one in a while. That "hang on boot" issue was a simple fix since you should always update your bios anyways on a successful build. Also, their website is quite slow and it has many "down links" to downloads. The company is good, but their website needs some administrative work. Not their fault probably. It only includes 2 SATA cables and they are very short. I have not tested the graphics, so I have way to report on that.

Overall Review: In using with an Antec Mini P180, an AMD Phenom 9350e, Zalmann 9500, 8gb Geil Black Dragon (4-4-4-12), a Sparkle Calibre 9800GT (P980), and a PC Power and Cooling 500watt Silencer, I have created the perfect computer. This motherboard gave me a base in which it all works. I recommend it for the gamer looking for the smaller build. Actually, I recommend the whole setup. To answer questions: *It supports low latency RAM and it supports 8gbs well. *It supports the latest 9350e. *It fits inside all MicroATX rated cases with no trouble. *The motherboard will support the largest 3rd party heatsinks. You can put a Zalman 9500 on there for sure (if not larger). *It has decent audio on the motherboard *The motherboard works flawlessly with Vista. *It supports a great variety of RAM voltages (high and low) *The build is solid and uses solid state electronics. *Foxconn's software isn't too bad. It has a decent temperature monitor that reads well. That should address all concerns

Pros: This is the 4th Foxconn MB (2 590 SLI) and now 2 of these. I am very pleased with Foxconn. I use this MB as a HTPC and it is rock solid. HDMI is a plus. Easy to work with overclocking BIOS and a great manual (not that most will need it).

Overall Review: Be sure to get the latest ATI 3200 video, Realtek HD and Realtek ATI HDMI sound drivers. Just add a AMD black 5000+ and 2G of 800 DDR2 and off you go for $200 :-) I have a 690G Gigabyte board also and the graphics on this 780G ATI 3200 are much better, faster and have more overclock headroom. The kids can play their PC games and not complain too much on the big screen. The other 780G MB is now in the wife's machine - a major upgrade for her with with an AMD black 5000+. If you buy this board for non high end gaming, a HTPC or general office machine you will be very pleased with this cost effective solution.

Pros: I like the lay out. Lots of sata plugs. Great utilities cd in the box. Easy upgrade off the Fox site via the install cd. I did the bios upgrade and the overclocking utility. Real easy to use I got my 4600+ up to 3.1 with it but backed it down to 2.8 and it runs just fine. Very happy so far.

Cons: None really didn't notice any heatsink problems even with the OC but I also have 5 fans in my case so that helps with heat. Should have been a $25.00 rebate instead of $15.00..........just kidding.

Overall Review: I have had the board 7 days now and trying everything out. I have run the board with Windoz Expee along with Ubuntu Linux and PclinuxOS. Works great with a dual-boot system.

Pros: For the money, this is a rediculous deal. Rock solid stability and a pretty decent integrated graphics chip.

Cons: If you are running OCZ memory without the updated BIOS, this board will throw you a memory warning message on POST. Does not affect functionality, but it is a nuisance to have to manually let it finish POSTing. Fixed with a simple BIOS flash.

Overall Review: When trying to resolve BIOS issue, could not get Foxconn's site to let me download the driver. Sent off an email to tech support at around 1am. The next day they sent me a followup email and I was able to download the fix from their site. Kudos to them to fixing it in a timely manner, even if it was in a bit of broken english ;) Have not tried overclocking yet, but even if the board refuses to OC, it's still a stupidly good deal for the buy in.

Pros: Cheap, Decent for gaming, pretty good overclocking board (I have the phenom 9550 running at 2.6 stable with my low overclocking skills), six sata ports, 4 duelchannel 1066 ddr2 dimm slots, 7.1 audio, Hdmi Dvi and vga outputs, Gigabit LAN, On the foxconn websit it says it has the ATI Hybrid Graphics technology.

Cons: Only supports 1066 ram with a AM2+ processor(not a problem to me), four of the sata ports will be covered if you install a large video card, noIEEE-1394 port(not a problem to me), In my last review i sead I was having problems with the northbridge overheating the problem was the heatsink on the board that was shipped to me diddent have any thermal grease/pad so I applied some arctic silver ceramique and now it stays nice and cool,

Overall Review: Ignore my last review this board is a great value.

Pros: * Great motherboard, you can see the quality when you look at the components. * Spacing is great. * Using the phenom 9350e and it worked fine. * HDMI connected to my monitor/TV fine at 1080p. * On-baord video plays blu-ray at the 1080 res perfectly.

Cons: i haven't figured out how to use the hdmi audio + back connections audio at the same time.

Overall Review: Using with phenom 9350e. Used some pc800 ram but i've got some 1066 on order. First time to try foxconn and i will be getting more.

Pros: couldn't be happier with this board, I had my old socket 939 die on me and had to make the switch to AM2 on a limited budget. I ended up buying this, along with 4gb gksill ddr2800, and an athlon x2 2.7ghz(3.4 OC). I wanted to build the base for a mid-high end gaming pc and still be able to game for a month while waiting to get the extra cash for a 1gb 4870. I am overall very impressed by this board, see other thoughts.

Cons: no onboard spdif, but not a problem if you have a good sound card or dont use spdif.

Overall Review: onboard audio is good, but had to buy a header for spdif connection. overclocks very well. most impressive is the onboard video. with my current setup, I can run fallout 3 and cry 2 and 1680x1050 on low settings at around 25fps and left 4 dead at 1280x768 low settings and get 35-40 fps.

Whether you want a Motherboard with built in High Definition video capabilities straight out of the box or you want an a good IGP board, this is a great choice.

Cons: Not very many but there's a few: Cannot use both DVI and HDMI at the same time. While 256mb for the IGP works well, wish it had 512mb Shared Video compatibility. No IEEE 1394 port or motherboard connector. Wish it had come with USB back-panels to connect to motherboard.

Overall Review: Great price, amazing capabilities, and of course if you're looking for a good cheap motherboard for a HTPC, this is the one, with the 780G north bridge, you get amazingly low CPU usage while watching Blu-Rays and HD-DVD's.
