The board features the AMD 780G chipset with an integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics adapter. A PCI-E 16 slot gives you the option of adding additional graphics horsepower and it supports ATI's Hybrid CrossFireX technology and DirectX 10 as well as HDMI output – enabling you to display your video on any HD flat-screen television. Hyper Technology 3.0 doubles the data transmission rate between the CPU and the graphics adapter for superior operation. Expand your system with a dozen USB 2.0 connections and 6 SATA-2 connections. Built-in support for AMD's Cool n' Quiet 2.0 technology allows you for power-saving modes and energy-efficient processor operations.
AMD K10 Processor SupportThe Foxconn A7GM-S supports AM2 AMD processors including the Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 X2 and the latest AM2+ K10 Phenom series AMD processors.
ATI Hybrid CrossFireX Technology SupportBased on ATI CrossFireX multi-GPU technology, ATI Hybrid CrossFireX allows you to combine the performance of the HD3200 integrated GPU with an applicable ATI Radeon graphics card to bring enhanced gaming performance, productivity and power efficiency.
HDMI OutputThe Foxconn A7GM-S features an HDMI output for connection to your high-definition video equipment. With the HDMI interface ensuring lossless transmission of high-quality HD video signals, play back HD contents on your computer and view them on your large HDTV set for more comfort.
PCI Express 2.0 InterfaceThe PCI-Express 2.0 interface provides twice the bandwidth of PCI-Express X16 to handle the data load of next-generation graphics cards while retaining compatibility with current PCI-Express cards.
SATA II with RAID SupportThe second generation SATA interface delivers up to 300MB/sec transfer speed, doubling that of the first generation Serial ATA. The on-board six SATA II ports support RAID 0, 1 and 0+1 for better performance and enhanced data security.
Gigabit Ethernet ConnectivityThe Foxconn A7GM-S features a fast Gigabit network interface for high-speed LAN connections at up to 1000Mbps data transfer rates with advanced security features to ward off malicious attacks. Pros: The motherboard just works for gaming. I am not an overclocker with no intent of doing it for this build. It adjusts the voltages easily to the correct stock range and accepts the very tight timings of my 8gb of Geil Black Dragon RAM. This thing will be a perfect home theatre PC motherboard, but more importantly is that it functions just as well for gaming. If you have concerns on that, I can assure you that this thing will facilitate performance gaming very well. I have not faced any issues with drivers or stability, and the motherboard works very ideally.
Cons: Doesn't include a case badge? haha. Either I lost mine, or it doesn't come with one. One real issue. I had to do a bios update to keep it from hanging on boot one in a while. That "hang on boot" issue was a simple fix since you should always update your bios anyways on a successful build. Also, their website is quite slow and it has many "down links" to downloads. The company is good, but their website needs some administrative work. Not their fault probably. It only includes 2 SATA cables and they are very short. I have not tested the graphics, so I have way to report on that.
Overall Review: In using with an Antec Mini P180, an AMD Phenom 9350e, Zalmann 9500, 8gb Geil Black Dragon (4-4-4-12), a Sparkle Calibre 9800GT (P980), and a PC Power and Cooling 500watt Silencer, I have created the perfect computer. This motherboard gave me a base in which it all works. I recommend it for the gamer looking for the smaller build. Actually, I recommend the whole setup. To answer questions: *It supports low latency RAM and it supports 8gbs well. *It supports the latest 9350e. *It fits inside all MicroATX rated cases with no trouble. *The motherboard will support the largest 3rd party heatsinks. You can put a Zalman 9500 on there for sure (if not larger). *It has decent audio on the motherboard *The motherboard works flawlessly with Vista. *It supports a great variety of RAM voltages (high and low) *The build is solid and uses solid state electronics. *Foxconn's software isn't too bad. It has a decent temperature monitor that reads well. That should address all concerns
