Pros: Fully modular, all black cables

Overall Review: Didn't set out to buy this one. Took the first decent PSU that was actually in stock, lucked out with this one. Works great, very easy to use.

Died due to faulty ecoboost 4/2/2020 4:10:41 AM

Pros: None

Cons: See overall review

Overall Review: I first purchase this psu back in 2015. Yes its been 5 years but its taken this long for me to realize that the PSU has been faulty since the beginning.

It comes with a feature called ECO mode, and this stops the fans from spinning unless the PSU is under a high load and needs to dissipate heat. When I first built my rig, it was running all brand new parts (Complete new build). I still have that pc today and have since replaced the gpu.

When I started this build, the original GPU was a 980ti and when I would game under heavy load, the PC would immediately shut down and restart. No errors, no warnings, just restart. As time progressed these crashing became more frequent. I read some forums online at the time and they pointed out the fault eco-mode feature, where the fans would stop and never start -resulting in who knows what kind of damage. I immediately switched eco off and things ran great.... for a while. You see, the damage had already been done. For a period of time, things seem to be running great with eco-mode turn off. The restarts still occurred but they were much less frequent. Less enough that it wasn't so much of a nuisance to me anymore.

At this period of time, I still wasn't confident that the PSU was actually the problem. I eventually upgraded to the 1080ti when it was released.... and the crashes and restarts came back. I had to underclock my gpu's, turn down graphic settings to prevent the restarts. It's taken me a while to write this because I have moved away from gaming over the years, so these restart problems cropped up with less frequency as I was more focused on work than gaming.

It was these last few days that I revisited the issue. The new GPU (1080ti) was having the same restart problems as the 980ti which made me return to my suspicions about the PSU. I had heard that my gpu was notorious for having a lot of thermal paste - so I opened it up, cleaned it, and reapplied thermal paste to the card. Things actually ran better for a time, but the restarts would still occur. So I switched on eco-mode again. Just to see what would happen.

My PC would not even boot, cycling power on and off repeated. What is the issue, its definitiely the PSU. Whatever was wrong with it, it has to do with eco-mode not turning on the fans. When this happened all those years ago, some component definitely failed. Turning off eco-mode at this point was like repairing a boat using duct-tape. It's a bit embarrassing to admit it took me this long to realize the PSU is faulty but I had to get this off my chest.

Powering my PC while you are reading the title. 1/25/2020 10:29:06 AM

Pros: My title says it all.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: My PC is 100% SSD both 2.5 and 2280 (GTX1070) and I purchased this overkill power supply for the build.

I have had good luck with my EVGA purchases. So anything I would say has a bias towards the perceived reliabilty, which in my case between power supplies and videos cards, if you include the to GTX 970 cards I gave away that are still running, the 760 I'm using for my TV and I think one other old card in a haswell I am giving away you could say I am definetly biased towards EVGA.

Never even saw it. 6/26/2019 12:06:40 PM

Pros: Seller was responsive to my inquiries but does nothing to guarantee my product gets to me.

Cons: No idea how to judge this product as I’ve never even saw it. Says it was attempted delivered and notice left with the tracking but there was no notice left on information on where to pick it up. I have no idea where my package that I had paid for already is 3 DAYS after the “supposed” delivery date and no one was able to help me find out where my item is still.
Would prefer to know ahead of time what type of shipping was going to be used.

Overall Review: The seller was responsive to my emails about the product but they could not help much. I would not know to recommend or not to for this product since I haven't seen it yet but do make sure to ask which delivery service was being used and if they are trustworthy.

good! but some improvements. 12/3/2018 5:25:17 PM

Pros: - nice body
- eco mode
- full modular

Cons: - less than full load efficiency compare to competitions. but it's very little problem. this item isn't short platinum.
- some times, eco mode seems unstable because high frequency sounds.
- superflower OEM (I don't like it personally)

Overall Review: Minor issue : If your case is NZXT H series(My case is H700i), the gap of point cable steel cover and M/B is little narrow for 24pin cable thickness. It's some problems that point cable steel cover bends slightly.
In this case series, I recommend

1. To connect with an extension cable
2. Adjust connection angle when connect M/B 24pin
3. Use the right angle conversion connector

Personally, i hope that extension cable will be default options in next EVGA PSU series :)

garbage 2/7/2018 2:12:38 PM

Pros: good looking and nice name: Platinum

Cons: This cannot power an EVGA GeForce Titan X and an ASUS Rampage IV with i7 4730K. It works for a month until it showed random restart. PSU still power on the led on the mobo but failed to start the computer, likely bad and uneven distribution of the wattage on the rails!
I tried all three EVGA 850, bronze/gold/platinum, and they all failed giving random restart:
1) this bronze EVGA SuperNOVA 850 B2 110-B2-0850-V1 80+ BRONZE,
2) the gold EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GS 220-GS-0850-V1 80+ GOLD,
3) the platinum EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2 220-P2-0850-X1 80+ PLATINUM
I will be posting the same review for all of the above. It looks like all these three PSU are internally similar with a different labeling.

I use Antec and Rosewill in computers that have run for over 7 years. EVGA should focus on functionality rather on sexiness of the shell. EVGA should not produce PSU or I should have never bought them in the first place! I will call it a waste of $360 for all three PSUs.. next I will test their RMA response and update with another review.

Overall Review: Surprised with the longevity of Rosewill / Antec / Corsair PSU, but NOT this EVGA!

Well Constructed, Quiet Operation 2/7/2018 8:50:44 AM

Pros: -Solid construction, heftier than other PSUs I've owned.
-Good selection of cabling, braided cable covers on each.
-Quiet/silent operation.

Cons: -Price, if not picked up on discount.

Overall Review: I was able to wait for a good deal on this PSU. I would have been much more hesitant to buy at MSRP.
