Very impressive, excellent build quality.

GIGABYTE Radeon R9 390 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 ATX Graphics Card GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD
GIGABYTE Radeon R9 390 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 ATX Graphics Card GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD

Pros: - 8GB of VRAM (Hynix) - Excellent construction and comes with attached back plate. - Base packaging of the card is very large, so the card is very well protected during shipping. At least 2 to 3 inches of foam surround the card in the case its shipped in. - 2X Windforce fan design, so it will fit in MidATX chassis, the previous revision was a 3 fan design. Took up more space. So its nice to see them get it down on size some and still maintain good temps and low noise levels if any at all. My H60 is loud enough during a heavy load, and only during a render in AutoDesk 3DS Max that I cant even hear the GPU assembly working in the background. - Put it threw its paces on GTA V with everything maxed out. Uses 3.2 GB of the 8GB of available VRAM to turn everything to max @1080P. Ran smooth as glass, so I am very pleased. - I ran Far Cry 4 at Ultra as well, never blinks or stutters. Textures are smooth and seamless, no more popping of objects randomly in and out. - Handles my older games that are less memory smart very well and keeps them in the 140 FPS range at 1080P. So I am very happy there. - Loaded up some of my older games as well Bioshock series, Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex HR, all performed flawless and as expected. ** I dont have a 4K monitor yet so I can't test at that level. But for my needs this card exceeds all my expectations so far. And should cover any needs until both NVIDIA and AMD get further along with the HBM designs.

Cons: - None that I have experienced yet.

Overall Review: - I upgraded from a 7870 GHz Edition 2GB. The last two cards I owned have been Powercolor and never gave me an issue. I went with Giga for 2 reasons, 1 the Powercolor card has a 3 fan assembly and is to long for my current case, the second was that my new motherboard is Giga and its outstanding build quality and I knew my new video card would be as well. And what I have seen so far is just what I expected, excellent quality and performance. - Before purchasing the R9 390 I had purchased a 970 GTX, the segmented memory bit me in several games so I returned it and waited for the 300 series from AMD. It was a smart decision, this is a stellar GPU, yes its built off of a refreshed chip, but the builders have really fine turned the builds from the 290 setup. Better cooling with less fans and physical real estate needed in the case. Previous versions required a 3 fan cooling design. Gigabyte and several other vendors have been able to refine their cooling designs and reduce board space so that the new 390/390X can fit into Mid ATX cases with room to spare. That was not the case before. The card stays at or below 60C under gaming conditions such as my shootouts in FC4 and GTA V. - I did have to reactivate Windows since it considered my GPU a hardware change qualifier, no big deal. Though that's the first time i have had that happen. - Make sure you use the appropriate driver from AMD, 15.15. Do not use the 15.6 Beta, that is meant for the HD series and R9 200 line. The R9 300 and Fury have a different driver, just make sure you pull down the correct software. - I hope to test it out on Batman Arkham Knight once both sides and the developer get all the issues sorted out. i cant blame either GPU dept right now for the issues when Rocksteady didnt even take the time to port their own game. So I feel any blame placed there on AMD or NVIDIA is really misplaced. They can only work with what they are given and having a AAA title ported to PC by a third part vice the original devloper who knows what everything should look like and react was a very poor call on WB and Rocksteadys part. Has no bearing on the performance rating of this card for me at this time. Everything I have asked of this card so far it has done with out making a peep. **Updated to my intial Review of the MSI 970 and the RMA process

MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5T OC
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5T OC

Pros: The card had sturdy construction, looked nice and ran out of the box no apparent issues. The card in principle is not a bad card, unfortunately in design it has flaws that do not become apparent until much later. I would still recommend the card assuming the consumer has done their research and now knows all the facts regarding the 900 series design and the VRAM limitations specific to the 970 platform.

Cons: Unfortunately NVIDIA lied on the initial specifications for this card. It is not a full 4GB card they would have you believe. There are now several reputable tech sites that show information about the problem with the VRAM. In addition to word directly from NVIDIA's own PR department about how the card is designed with the final .5GB of VRAM at a reduced speed rate and without its own Cache. While NVIDIA is still working to address the issue. The run around given to customers when they started seeking solutions or recourse in the matter has been unacceptable. I had higher standards and expectations for both NVIDIA and many of the vendors and this entire ordeal has changed how I look at many of these companies and which ones I will and will not do business with in the future. The customer base is your bread and butter and some of these companies think they are big enough where they can abuse that and there will not be a recourse from it. You only need to look at the NVIDIA 900 series forums to see other wise.

Overall Review: This is an updated review of Newegg for me. And it is a direct reflection on the events that deal with the NVIDIA 970 GTX platform problem many have experienced this past 2 months. I have been a Newegg customer for over 10 years now. In that time I have never once had to RMA or return an item. With this being my first experience it has left me with some concerns. First off I want to say though the process was painful and long Newegg did finally refund my money to my original form of payment. The process to get to that point was a bit longer then I think it should have taken. And filled with a myriad of information gaps among the employees I dealt with over the 3 weeks. I sent in my video card on 1/26/15. My invoice arrived closing my RMA on 2/13/15. That's 19 days from start to finish, and I don't yet have my money back. Just RMA closed and money return is in the process. That is 15 business days total to do a simple return. Had I bought this card with another vendor my time for this process would have been cut in half or less. As evident by the countless people who purchased these cards and have long been done with their returns. In a ever growing digital marketplace for store fronts each company needs to be the best it can be at customer service, and Newegg needs to step it up a notch if they want to compete with Am***n for future business. I have two large problems. My first one is this. It simply should not take this long to return a product, when it is 100% as it was shipped back for a full refund or store credit. My second issue is the information disparity that was displayed between the return department and customer service representatives that I and several others have had to deal with. Some customers got refunds immediately, while others had to make multiple phone calls, threaten with credit card charge backs, or just got blown off by support all together. I can understand that this can take time, but for a big company when handling and issue like this where a product is sold under false advertising, (NOT BY NEWEGG) by the manufacturer. The response and information being put out by the returns and customer service department should be uniform. Unfortunately it was anything but for me and many others. I made around 10 phone call's, 1 chat conversation logged with representatives, and waiting several days with silence while wondering what could take so long or no update on the site. In the future I would like to see Newegg review its RMA process and see if it can be completed in a more timely fashion so customers are not waiting for such a long period to be able to get a replacement component or purchase a replacement item. Not every person keeps a stock pile of spare parts to wait around with while Newegg takes their time to complete a return. My biggest suggestion is to keep the customer involved in the returns process. Don't leave them wondering what is going on and when they can expect a resolution. I

Big power, easy to setup package.

ASUS Prime 850W Gold (850 Watt, ATX 3.0 Compatible, Fully Modular Power Supply, 80+ Gold Certified, Dual Ball Bearings, Two Color Options in One, 8-Year Warranty) AP-850G
ASUS Prime 850W Gold (850 Watt, ATX 3.0 Compatible, Fully Modular Power Supply, 80+ Gold Certified, Dual Ball Bearings, Two Color Options in One, 8-Year Warranty) AP-850G

Pros: - Has all the goodies you need for dedicated rails to all your components. - Native 12V power for your larger GPU needs such as the 5080/5090. No splitters or adapters needed. Dedicated rail and cable.

Cons: - Last PSU came with a cable bag to store all the cables not needed. Nice to have for future needs and storage. No big deal, but would have been nice. EVGA had the bag im referring to.

Overall Review: Nice PSU, comes with everything you need to kick off a new build from budget friendly to enthusiast. No matter the need it had plenty of power and dedicated rails for my cabling needs.

Plug n play. Exactly what you want from your ram today.

Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6400 (PC5 51200) Desktop Memory Model CP2K16G64C32U5B
Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6400 (PC5 51200) Desktop Memory Model CP2K16G64C32U5B

Pros: - Defaults to 5600 as expected on my B650E board. Once EXPO enabled jumped to 6400 stable as expected. Fast RAM.

Overall Review: Recommend and affordable compared to some others. The side heat sinks vs vertical make it so the sticks dont conflict with my Noctua DH15 G2 fans on the cooler that hangs over.

Feature packed board at a great value.

ASUS B650E MAX GAMING WIFI W - AMD B650 AM5, PCIe 5.0, ATX Motherboard, White PCB, DDR5, 3x M.2, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5Gb LAN, USB 10Gbps Type-C, DisplayPort, HDMI, BIOS FlashBack, Aura Sync, Advanced AI PC

Pros: - My components all worked out of the box. Did the BIOS update later and went smooth as silk. - AMD 9800x3d - Crucial Pro DDR5 6400 EXPO Enabled - RX 9060XT/9070XT PCI-E 5 enabled and running smooth - Crucial P310 2TB PCI-E 5 enabled and running smooth. Plenty of additional SATA 6GB slots for my secondary storage of steam game drives and docs/music etc. Tons of fan controllers. Easy BIOS update utility. Sound is acceptable, not as good as having a dedicated DAC will be but this is great for now. Note: It did support the 64GB I initially put in. But as expected downclocked all 4 sticks to 3200 MT. So I dropped 32GB of it for now and will update to 2 32GB sticks later when prices come back down.

Cons: Cant think of anything i needed it didnt have other than a native basic PCI slot for an internal sound card. But thats mostly gone extinct so its not worth a star deduction.

Overall Review: Definitely a great budget performance board. Happy with my purchase so far. ASUS never disappoints for me.

Plenty of room and air flow options. Clean and classy looking case.

Fractal Design North ATX mATX Mid Tower PC Case - Charcoal Black Chassis with Walnut Front and Mesh Side Panel
Fractal Design North ATX mATX Mid Tower PC Case - Charcoal Black Chassis with Walnut Front and Mesh Side Panel

Pros: - Tons of air flow options for you to choose from. - I am using a mATX Board (Asus B650E Max Gaming Wifi White) - Noctua DH15 G2 CPU Cooler (I prefer air over AIO) - 4 Noctua AX14 140MM fans for front facia entry and roof - 3 AX12 120 MM Noctua for Rear exit and PCI card configuration additional cooling. My air cooler prevented the use of the side slot fan tray that comes with the unit. May switch to AIO later, if I do then I can move those 2 140MM into that tray easily.

Cons: Nothing. Great case, clean, classy and plenty of options for cable management and airflow.

Overall Review: I am going to buy a 2nd one to transfer my old build into. The old Rosewill case has had the beef and is due to be retired. The fact I am buying a 2nd says it all.
