NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case
NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case is so beautiful. When you look up the word aesthetics you are inevitably presented at some point with pictured of beautiful lithe women. The case is huge, but it has curves in all the write places. Assembling your components is so easy and fun to boot because for once there was no squeezing in to cramped places. No tight spots that a lot of cases have and end up with you cursing under your breath. Instead, for me at least, it was how beautiful can I make the cables and wiring. The fans that are included are already hooked up and ready to go. In fact they give you more extra wires for fans than there are spots to hold them. I had been researching cases for months, and like almost everything I buy for my computer I read, and read until I know the product inside and out. I was moving out of an NZXT Apollo metallic chrome case that was six years old. It is a pretty case, but no cable management at all. It is also a midsized case, and the Cooler master hyper 212 Evo I purchased after dropping in a new AMD fx-8350 because the sound of the stock fan was driving me crazy just barely fit. It fit with some creative Dremmel work. When I had the evo on the older case it was much quitter and kept temps down to 51-52 C. This new case was built to make sure people like me never have to worry about issues like this. In fact, with cables out of the way and a cougar in the first slot on the bottom blowing up and the tilt-able device with another cougar angled up it seems like it was designed just for me. Playing any game all out or running Prime 95 makes no discernable difference in sound, and the temp never goes over 38 C, but I read that the Intel burn in was the real test. That I could expect 20 C degrees more in heat running this savage program. So I got it set up and could only put on the setting right under max since I only have 16 GB of ram. Once again, sound wise you would never know the machine was under load, and better it topped out at 45 C and wouldn’t budge after that. This is all thanks to the airflow dynamics of this case. The HUE color system is wonderful, and I have the fans maxed out. I would turn them up if I could since they are so quiet. Inspired I have begun my quest of perfecting it. Bought some Red cables to match the Crosshair V Formula Z motherboard, but I am having a problem finding some 140 mm red bladed fans. Juts not sure I want to go red led. I can’t find any color changing led fans either.

Cons: I haven't had anything break on me, and I just found out I can order a fuller windowed side panel from NZXT for only $30.

Overall Review: I get a warm happy feeling just looking at the monster sitting on top of my desk on the corner. I put a small 2x4 inch magnet of Frankenstein's monster on the side panel. It says it all.

Worked great until they broke

Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro Closed Studio Headphone
Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro Closed Studio Headphone

Pros: The sound was great and the headsets were very functional.

Cons: I still have a cougar headset I suspect that was built to last. The headphones are shedding a little from the plastic coating over the foam but these things are so tough.

Overall Review: It seems like the construction of many newer headphones are very unforgiving. I am truly scared to buy a pair of expensive headphones only to have them break.

Second review over five years later

Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD5000HHTZ 500GB 10000 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I use my Desktop for gaming as well as odds and ends. When I Purchased this it was so much more expensive than what you can buy it for now. It still spins up ultra fast and quiet with zero problems. Honestly, I have considered purchasing another since the price is so low now and create a mirror image backup. I have no and have never used an SSD but deciding if one of these will part of the evolution of my PC is all that holds me back. That and if I did get another and the original ran great a few more years it would make the expenditure a waste.

Cons: None, never had a problem.

Overall Review: It is a hard drive so yes you will wait a few seconds longer than a SSD might get you up and going but my computer boots so fast I never get impatient. Basically, I researched every component I used to put together my beautiful PC and nearly everything is still doing the job since 2013.

Looks nice, EZ setup and protection for your pc

CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems - Pure Sine Wave / 100% Active PFC Compatible with USB Charging Ports
CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems - Pure Sine Wave / 100% Active PFC Compatible with USB Charging Ports

Pros: Out of the case (besides the time needed to allow the unit to fully charge) setting it up including downloading the power panel software to manage the unit and what your computer does during an outage is super fast.

Cons: The smell! My unit is only a couple days old and to be fair I read i might be running into this issue; however, while charging I sat this in the living room in front of a fan to move some air through the case. I even allowed it power up and run the fan on battery so the interior fan would push air. Man, this thing stinks..I am going to allow some times to pass but before my 30 days is up if I have to sit at my computer an smell this we are going to exchange models or something.

Overall Review: One thing I sort of discovered after buying this was that the similar APC model has a port where you can plug in an external battery pack to extend your uptime. I am really sad to see this isn't available on this unit because even though the sine wave is good for over $200 why not when lower priced APC models have the same option. This is edited in it's been a few months and as hoped for there is no longer any smell. I was stuck deciding on upgrading to four or five stars. I decided on four just because the pervasive smell took at least a month to finally go away. Honestly, barring that and...the lack of being upgradeable. I can't imagine why Cyberpower wouldn't want to sell you an add-on pack that adds to longevity of uptime during an outage. I have mine set to shutdown my computer in two minutes automatically. With the monitor turned off I can still watch tv for about 45-50 minutes which I guess would cover the bulk of outages; however, for some reason where I live we get a lot of outages except in winter. I had one about 10 days after getting mine setup and power came back on with about five minutes to spare then winter and nothing. Long winter this year but first storm of the spring and we got a little bump to remind us it was time again.

Wow! This rare beauty is well worth the investment.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 FTW2 GAMING, 9GHz, 06G-P4-6768-KR, 6GB GDDR5, iCX - 9 Thermal Sensors & LED G/P/M
EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 FTW2 GAMING, 9GHz, 06G-P4-6768-KR, 6GB GDDR5, iCX - 9 Thermal Sensors & LED G/P/M

Pros: This card was designed well after the introduction of the 1060 model which means you have a piece of equipment which has been optimized. -The cooling system is so well designed and integrates with EVGA's Precision XOC program which enables you to control everything and activates some cool looking lights on the front indicating temps of three key components of this card. -this card runs as 9GHz.....As far as I know no other model has this capacity. -Actually, this looks like someone's project to build a dream card well within the budget of most gamers.

Cons: Ok, yes it is a little expensive but this card was what consoled me to the fact of having to choose a new card earlier than planned.

Overall Review: I wanted a 1070 with a few bells and whistles. In fact, I would take this card over the baseline 1070 because I know the better cards have much higher quality control standards. My card started producing artifacts out of nowhere and I had planned on getting my wonderful 1070 on Black Friday. I read a lot of reviews and this card was one that people felt worth the extra money and based on that went this way. I always have the step up program and looking at it although the 1070 choices are feeble there are two top of the line 1080 models so I have 63 days to consider if that is something I want to do. This card is easily worth the $20 to extend the warranty to five years and I am debating on the improved RMA program which is $29 but they send you a new card then you send your card and that's the process, pretty nifty.

Seem nice so far

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3, 220-G3-0750-X1, 80+ GOLD, 750W Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode with New HDB Fan, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3, 220-G3-0750-X1, 80+ GOLD, 750W Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode with New HDB Fan, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply

Pros: An advanced PSU fully modular replacing semi-modular so in the future if/when I need to replace I can just drop in a new modular unit without having to redo cabling.

Cons: Where is the free power on self tester? I decided to not bother complaining about this to customer service since I already own one but there was no self tester included. I wonder if this is an issue with other folks as well? Were it not for this I would have no problem giving it five stars.

Overall Review: Just something for consideration: I noticed a smell for a bit after installing this. After initially freaking out and researching the issue I found other people reporting this issue and noting it as grease or something burning off. It went away fairly quickly but it's one of those things that sticks in the back of your head for a while.
