Perfect for a Time Machine
Pros: Quiet, huge, inexpensive, low energy use.
Cons: None, as I'm using it, as a Mac Time Machine.
Overall Review: I bought this WD to use internally as a Mac "Time Machine" drive. It's installed in an 8-core Mac Pro, and may I say, how sweet is the design of the hard drive bays? Slip out the rack, screw the four attached screws into the HD, slide the rack back in and close the case. Sweet. That the drive is built for comfort and not for speed is ideal for this application. In a backup role, it's all about dependability, and we'll see how it lasts. It did not fail on installation, as some have reported. It has worked quietly and efficiently for the last week and a half, and running slow and cool, I like its chances going forward. That it's 2TB is ideal for the way Time Machine works, which is make copy after copy of stored content. It would seem that the larger the back-up drive used for Time Machine, the more comprehensive this process can be, and this drive is big.
