I dont care what the internet says vertical GPU looks awesome (thermals not as bad as expected)

Fractal Design Flex VRC-25 PCIE x16 Extender and Vertical GPU Riser Card Adapter - Black
Fractal Design Flex VRC-25 PCIE x16 Extender and Vertical GPU Riser Card Adapter - Black

Pros: Vertical GPU mount was on my list of "wants" for my most recent build and part of the reason I chose the Fractal Design case. Massive window + vertical GPU just looks great. I am running it with a air cooler now and larger air coolers do sit close to the glass which I am sure has some level of negative impact on cooling. I will eventually stick a EK water block on it though so that is ultimately a temporary concern for me. I have not done any testing to compare between vertical and traditional mounting of the GPU to say for certain how much of a difference I am running a GTX 1070 FE right now (as I patiently wait for my MSI RTX 2080) and it stays around 70deg with a mild overclock during gaming. I am sure the blower style fan and 2-slot card design mitigate some of the potential thermal drawbacks that you would see with big 2.5 - 3 slot cards. Price wise it is pretty much in line with other options from cooler master, lian li, and other aftermarket vendors. The fractal design logo on on the sleeve looks great but ends up mostly covered and blocked by your graphics card. Fitment, although specifically designed for the R6 is a little tight to get the card to slot in which I have seen others complain about. I was able to fit mine with both screws and standoffs installed but I did have to slightly loosen the screws to allow for a little movement during installation of the card to get everything lined up. I don't really see this as an issue in the long run, but this could ultimately be fixed if the bolt hole spacing was marginally wider apart or even slightly elongated (like a oval instead of a circle) bolt holes to allow for more adjustment for card alignment. Update: Got my MSI RTX 2080 DUKE OC and have it running +125 core (hits 2040mhz boost clocks) and +700 memory and it stays between 70C-74C playing GTA V for several hours at a time. I could test with it in a normal configuration but I don't feel like these are problematic temperatures so either way pretty solid vertical GPU kit, looks great when installed.

Cons: Between the D1 connect and this vertical GPU mount I had to invest an extra $65 in my Fractal Define R6 case to get it exactly how I wanted. So I give it 4-eggs just due to the extra cost although I have no performance complaints.

Overall Review: Overall I feel like the quality and aesthetics of the Fractal Design products I have used now are good, but at a premium price. For that premium price (roughly $200-$215 total between case, usb3.1 front panel add-on, and vertical GPU riser) I am not 100% convinced that other options available don't provide similar style and better value. I am happy though and will definitely continue to consider Fractal design cases and products for future builds.

Good simple internal USB2.0 Hub

NZXT Internal USB Hub - Expands 5 USB 2.0 Ports - Sleek Multifunctional Design - Molex Connection - Plug and Play
NZXT Internal USB Hub - Expands 5 USB 2.0 Ports - Sleek Multifunctional Design - Molex Connection - Plug and Play

Pros: Cant speak for longevity yet but right now it is working great. Didn't have enough USB2.0 headers on my Maximus X board for all the accessories I am running. I like that this uses a magnet to simplify mounting in the case. Simple product really not much else to say

Cons: Used a Molex connector instead of SATA. Easily resolved with a adapter harness but.... why? Update: One of the pins on the molex connector came loose and pushed out the back of the clip. Luckily OutletPC is awesome and taking care of it for me but pretty disappointed something so simple broke.

Overall Review: If you need extra USB2.0 headers you cant go wrong with this hub in my opinion.

Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL Black ATX Flexible Light Tinted Tempered Glass Window Full Tower Computer Case
Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL Black ATX Flexible Light Tinted Tempered Glass Window Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Size - Cable management - Style - Air flow

Cons: - Price - It looks empty

Overall Review: I have recently built up a new rig and retired my previous build to be an unraid server. I had built that system in the Define R6 chassis which I loved at the time. I would have likely re-used that case but with how THICC the graphics cards got during the rtx 30 series I needed something with a bit more room to accomodate. Dont get me wrong, my EVGA FTW3 3090 fit in the R6 chassis, but temps were immediately a problem since I didnt have the new card water cooled. So instead of just trying to fix that specific issue in a already fantastic chassis I decided I should spend a lot of money and just build something mostly new. Makes sense right? Air flow in the Meshify 2 XL has been fantastic, GPU temps legitimately down ~15c from trying to shoehorn everything into the R6. Just waiting on the new EKWB pump/reservoir combo to come in for this thing and then i'll be doing a custom water cooling system with the PETG hard pipes, im looking forward to having room to work in with this new chassis. TL;DR it good, fractal good, buy it if you want it.

Samsung SSD are some of the best

SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-76E1T0B/AM

Pros: I have a 1TB 860 EVO and 500GB 960 EVO in my main desktop and I have another 500GB 860 EVO in a computer I use for sim racing games and they are all outstanding SSD. All of them perform flawlessly and show speeds above the advertised ratings in most benchmarks. Admittedly I don't have any super long term experience but so far so good.

Cons: Generally a little more expensive than other options but not as drastically as it used to be.

Overall Review: Would recommend, easy to install and set-up. No complaints.

Good card, not the best overclocker

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 DUKE 8G OC Video Card
MSI GeForce RTX 2080 DUKE 8G OC Video Card

Pros: Finally got my hands on this card and have been fairly pleased with the performance. I got this in a pre-order bundle with a 860 EVO SSD and paid $729 for the card which I think is a smokin' deal. Right now the lowest price on a 1080TI on this site is $699, so I definitely feel ok with what I paid. Cant really blame MSI on the price, im sure the turing chips are expensive from Nvidia. Anyways, performance has been great in all my current games with a massive bump over the FE 1070 I was using prior. Have a decent overclock of +125 core (allows for a consistent 2000-2040mhz boost clock depending on temps) and +700 memory that has been stable. This card does not run the fans when the GPU temp is below 58C which is nice for those worried about noise. I personally ended up making a custom fan curve to help keep temperatures a little better in check with the overclocks I am running to keep the clock speeds higher. The card will automatically limit clock speed based off of temperature. The RGB implementation is nice and I appreciate them considering the vertical GPU mounts by adding the strip on the front of the card above the fans, goes well with my GSKILL RGB memory. A pretty beefy card that feels well built including a nice back plate to make the card a bit more rigid. I have mine mounted vertically but MSI also includes a support brace for those mounting it in a traditional orientation, I can certainly see that being useful with the length of this card.

Cons: My biggest complaint is the power restrictions on this card. From my understanding this is a founder edition based PCB, but the power limit is much lower in overclocking software like MSI afterburner or EVGA X1 than founders edition cards and other AIB cards that are available. I am not able to go past 104% for power limit with this card. I called tech support to try and confirm that this is the correct limit for the card but I dont think he really understood what I was asking.

Overall Review: I feel like I got a pretty solid deal on the new generation card. Unfortunately those bundles are not available anymore. It would be a much tougher decision at the higher price because the performance in standard rendering is essentially the same as a 1080ti. The prices of the 1080Ti have normalized in the high $700's it seems, although you can find some at $700 if you are flexible on brand/features/cooler design, so the price difference isn't too terrible. Hoping that DLSS lives up to the hype, at that point any price difference could certainly be justified depending on how well it works. Long story short, depending on which 1080TI you may be looking at the minimal price difference for the latest architecture doesn't seem as bad as it did initially. If you want a hardcore overclocker though you will probably want to go for one of the more expensive 2080 or 2080TI for that. Having said that a RTX 2080 at the out of the box MSI clocks is certainly fast enough to run everything at 1440P/4K with pretty much maxed out settings.

Finally can afford it

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support ATX Graphics Card GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support ATX Graphics Card GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD

Pros: Ordered this card recently when it was on sale with a MIR on top for the computer I use for sim racing games like Iracing and Assetto Corsa. Doesn't break a sweat with all the extras turned on and ultra settings enabled, where as the Radeon HD7970 it replaced was starting to show its age. Running on a dated I7-3770 @ 4.3GHZ I am sure the card is being bottle necked but I will worry about that more when I invest in triple monitors or VR headset. At that point I see a Ryzen 2600 in my future. Currently with my set-up running on a single 46" Samsung TV I am enjoying the smoother, and higher, frame rates. Really helped breathe some life back into an aging system. When I got it for $439 when this card was selling for $500+ 6-8 weeks ago I went ahead and jumped on it. I currently have it running at +150mhz core and +700mhz memory and it is stable using MSI afterburner, although gigabyte does offer their own OC software as well. The cooler has been impressive, with these overclocks and a very slightly modified fan curve I only saw a peak of 52c after running the card for several hours straight under load. It is a pretty standard 2-slot card, although the cooler is effective its not very tall or bulky really.

Cons: No complaints. Just make sure to download drivers direct from Nvidia, the ones currently listed on Gigabytes site for this card are pretty out dated.

Overall Review: Seeing this card get near $400 (I missed a chance to use a code to get an extra $20 off, bummer) if you are wanting an upgrade this is a fantastic card. Anything running in 1080P or 1440P are absolutely flawless on a GTX1080. This card seems to overclock pretty well and the cooler is effective so unless you need extra horsepower for new 4K games then I think this is the sweet spot right now in terms of price and performance. If you cant find it for cheap enough then the GTX1070 prices are pretty insane currently too.

Reliable vendor

These guys have a pretty large website of their own and have been around for a while. No concerns about getting a genuine product and they got it shipped out quickly. Best price on the net for the part I ordered. Would not hesitate to order from OutletPC again. Update: Ended up having to contact OutletPC regarding an issue with the product itself when attempting to install and they got me taken care of quickly. Mike was quick to follow-up and made everything go very smoothly to resolve my problem.

Great cable kits

Been wanting some of these guys cables for a while so when they went on sale I had to go for it. They look great and the clips seem to be of equal quality to the ones my Corsair power supply came with. Got everything installed today and the slightly shorter lengths and individually sleeved cables were so much nicer to deal with. Definitely a awesome upgrade for any build with a window, makes it look much nicer.

Awesome

I don't normally rate vendors but when you unexpectedly receive something you thought would take 5-7 days to get and you get it the next day that is worth 5-eggs to me. Not sure how they did it, but I ordered some Kryonaut and got it much much quicker than expected.
