Excellent Gaming PC

Acer Gaming Desktop Nitro 50 N50-600-NESelecti7RX580 i7-8700 (3.20 GHz) 8 GB DDR4 1 TB HDD 16 GB Optane Memory AMD Radeon RX 580 Windows 10 Home 64-bit - ONLY @ NEWEGG
Acer Gaming Desktop Nitro 50 N50-600-NESelecti7RX580 i7-8700 (3.20 GHz) 8 GB DDR4 1 TB HDD 16 GB Optane Memory AMD Radeon RX 580 Windows 10 Home 64-bit - ONLY @ NEWEGG

Pros: - Desktop arrived very quickly from newegg. Packaging was excellent. - 6 core (12 threads) Intel Core i7-8700 3.20 GHz CPU. Coffee Lake architecture (14 nm). 65 W TDP. Socket 1151 LGA. - Motherboard: Acer Nitro N50-600. - BIOS: American Megatrends Inc (v. R01-A2 dated 05/08/2018). Latest BIOS is already installed. - 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (DDR4-2666). A-Data OEM part: AO2P26KC8T1-BPYS, which should be equivalent to AD4U266638G19-R. - 16GB of Intel Optane Memory in M.2 port (80 mm). - 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM 3.5 HDD. Toshiba model DT01ACA100. - 8X DVD slim burner model DA-8ESH. - GPU appears to be ASUS OEM Radeon RX 580X with 4 GB GDDR5. The GPU clock speed: 1266 MHz, memory clock speed: 1750 MHz. 3 DisplayPorts and 1 HDMI port. - Gigabit Ethernet. - 500W PSU. LiteOn model number PS-7501-5. - Intel Wireless-AC 9560 802.11ac Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 5.0 modem model 9560NGW. - Creative Sound BlasterX 360 Degrees Audio. - Win 10 Home 64-Bit OS. - Front Ports: USB 3.1 type C, USB 3.1 type A, SD card port and 2 audio ports. - Small dimensions (13.39" x 6.42" x 13.78") - Wired keyboard and mouse are included. - 1 year warranty with 90 software support.

Cons: - If you upgrade RAM, it will automatically default to the maximum of 21333. The BIOS does no allow any RAM tweaks. The BIOS doe snot even support XMP profiles. Extremely disappointing. The QVL list for RAM is extremely short. - No case fans. No room to add front or top fans. You can add 70mm or 80mm fan to the back of the case. - The optical (slim) drive is DVD only. No BluRay drive. - Single PCI-E x1 expansion is available but its blocked by GPU. - Single M.2 port (occupied by Optane memory). - The Qi wireless charging pad is not included in this configuration. - Cutout in the front cover for USB type C port is too small for some connectors. As a result, some USB type C connectors will not fit. For example Apple’s USB C to USB C cable or USB C cable that came with my WD Passport SSD drive will not fit. Although Apple’s USB C to lightning cable does fit. I used exacto knife to shave some plastic around the port to make the opening slightly larger.

Overall Review: Acer Nitro N50 arrived from Newegg in pristine condition as it was well packaged for shipping. Once you take the PC out of the shipping container, you will notice the PC is quite compact. It will not take much space. Red accents on the black case give nice appearance. The PC comes bundled with a basic optical mouse and compact keyboard. Acer Nitro N5-600 does come with excellent 8 gen 6 core i-7 CPU and decent RX580X dedicated graphics card. As a result, you will be able to play demanding games at acceptable settings. I averaged 80 FPS playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (beta) on 3440x1440 HP Omen X monitor. The GPU and CPU did get warm at 80 C (GPU) and 75 C (CPU) after prolonged play. However, the beta seemed to be exceedingly taxing on the PC for some reason. Nitro handled less taxing games like WoT and Doom with ease. WoT at 60 FPS and Doom at 53 FPS. The temps were significantly lower. The computer is very quiet at low to medium loads. The CPU fan gets a little louder when CPU is getting stressed. The CPU cooler appears to be stock Intel fan. I ended up adding an additional 80 mm fan to the back of the case (one additional 4-pin fan header is available on the motherboard). There is no solid state storage. However, the 1 TB Toshiba HDD is “accelerated” by 16 GB of Optane memory module that is installed in M.2 slot. As a result, Windows 10 loads extremely fast. I clocked 19 seconds from cold boot to login screen. That’s an excellent time, comparable to what regular SSD would give you. In my experience, the Optane acceleration works quite well. Frequently used programs load much faster. With Optane optimization, when you open a particular program (or a game) for a first time, certain data gets ”front loaded” to Optane chip that sits in M.2 slot. So, the next time you call for the program, some of its data gets loaded from Optane memory, not your HDD. This way the load times get significantly improved as Optane memory is really fast. The Windows file explorer does not show Optane memory as its own drive. Rather, when Optane optimization is enabled in BIOS, the Optane memory and Hard Drive are “merged” into one virtual drive. The whole process is transparent to the end user and does not require any additional input (from the user). The PC ships with Optane acceleration enabled out of the box. The Nitro N50 PC is quite compact, as a result, there is little room for expansion on the inside. In addition to included 3.5 inch 1 TB HDD there is one empty SATA port (out of 3 total) and space to mount one additional 2.5 inch drive. The extra PCIe x1 port is blocked by the GPU. Before you buy RAM, consult ACER support and get a list of supported RAM. Otherwise, you are running into a risk that your newly purchased, shiny RAM will be throttled down to 2133, an there is nothing you can do about it. I am hoping there will be a future BIOS release that will address this issue. I feel I need to take 2 eggs off because of the issue with RAM upgradeability. Nitro Acer Gaming Desktop is a choice for those looking for a capable gaming system delivered at a great price. However, the PC is not very upgradeable.

Budget friendly Nose, Ears and Brows trimmer

Norelco NT3600/42 Nose Trimmer 3000 Men's Shavers
Norelco NT3600/42 Nose Trimmer 3000 Men's Shavers

Pros: - Norelco NT3600/42 Nose Trimmer 3000 is a budget friendly Nose, Ears and Brows trimmer. - Item arrived quickly from Newegg. - The Trimmer Head has guards on both sides to prevent pinching. - Short Eyebrow cutting attachment (⅛ in or 3 mm) - Long Eyebrow cutting attachment (13/64 in or 5 mm) - Rotary nose/ear trimmer included - Cleaning Brush provided - 2 year warranty - Runs on one AA battery (included)

Cons: None at this price point.

Overall Review: Norelco NT3600/42 Nose Trimmer 3000 Nose, Ears and Brows trimmer is very inexpensive. Build quality seems adequate. Plastic body has some texture for better grip. Item is not too loud to operate. It is easy to sanitize the trimmer. Nose hair can be cut by either regular Trimming Head or by using included Rotary Trimmer. Switching between heads is easy, via a simple twist on/off mechanism. The trimming head cuts nose/ear hair with ease. It has never pinched me. Great design. The rotary trimmer works well too. To trim the eyebrows, simply slide one of the two attachments over the trimming head. For the price, this is a great trimmer.

Budget SSD drive

Mushkin Enhanced RAW Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDRW1TB
Mushkin Enhanced RAW Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDRW1TB

Pros: - Decently priced. - SSD.

Cons: - None

Overall Review: I bought this SSD for local storage for music. I did not want to hear HDD spinning every time I open my music player. For that purpose, the drive works well. Its fairly slow for an SSD but plenty fast for what I am using it for.

Very fast drive. Quality build.

Corsair MP600 PRO XT M.2 2280 4TB PCI-Express 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F4000GBMP600PXT
Corsair MP600 PRO XT M.2 2280 4TB PCI-Express 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F4000GBMP600PXT

Pros: - PCIe Gen4 x4, 3D TLC NAND, NVME M.2 drive. Up to 7,100MB/sec sequential read and 6,800MB/sec sequential write speeds. Backward compatible with PCIe Gen3. - Large aluminum heat spreader. - Rated for up to 3,000TB writes, 1M+ IOPS. - 5 year warranty.

Cons: Corsair SSD Toolbox software needs to be fixed, It would not let me clone my existing drive to Corsair's drive.

Overall Review: - The 1 TB MP600 PRO XT drive arrived very quickly from Newegg. The item was well packaged for shipping. The drive itself is permanently mated to a very hefty heatsink. It is not immediately apparent if the heat sink can be easily detached. Because the size of the heatsink, the MP600 PRO XT is not designed for use in laptops. Installed the drive on my PCs motherboard and then cloned my current 1 TB C drive to MP600 PRO XT using 3rd party software (Corsairs SSD Toolbox returned errors). - The performance of MP600 PRO XT is top notch. I am clocking sequential reads speeds of 3084 MB/s and write speeds of 2943 MB/s (Win 11 Pro/Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI/i79700K). While MP600 PRO XT is not a budget drive, its performance will not disappoint. The build quality is top notch. Large heatsink is great for cooling. Fast read/write speeds will get things done. Corsair backs MP600 PRO XT with 5 year warranty.

Works as advertised.

GIGABYTE B365M DS3H WiFi-Y1X (LGA1151 / Intel / Micro ATX / USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB3.0) Type A / DDR4 / Motherboard)
GIGABYTE B365M DS3H WiFi-Y1X (LGA1151 / Intel / Micro ATX / USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB3.0) Type A / DDR4 / Motherboard)

Pros: - Works as advertised. - New I/O shield included. - New Wi-Fi antennas included. - Supports CPUs with "Firmware TPM"

Cons: - Heat sink for voltage regulators (VRM) is missing (the part with yellow "ultra durable" letters on the product photo).

Overall Review: The motherboard arrived in a well-protected, sturdy package. The box was sturdier and of better quality then the OEM box. The item looks new, except for the fact that the heat sink for voltage regulators (VRM) is missing. I happened to have a VRM shroud from my old motherboard, so the missing Shroud was not an issue for me. The motherboard posted OK and runs Win 10 just fine. There is no hardware TPM chip. However, certain CPUs support "firmware TPM , so Win 11 can be installed after "Intel security" is enabled in BIOS. After I made the change in BIOS, I was able to install Win 11 without buying physical TPM module as the CPU I am using (i5-8600K) supports "Firmware TPM".
