Pros: -Thin for a PC laptop, it fits nicely into the slot in my attache case.
-Lightweight. I often have to check my attache to make sure I put it in before leaving the office.
-Great power management. Granted, most of what I do is word processing, document review, internet browsing, etc. But I have a dual monitor set up and can get 5-6 hours of work done unpluged on full brightness and "better performance" setting. I am sure if I was using just the laptop on lowered light settings and put it on power saving options I could squeeze eight or nine hours out of it. It does have a fast charge. About 90 minutes for me from 10% to 100%.
-Has the touchpad disable as a function key, which is f-word amazing. There is a function for most touchpads now that auto detects the mouse and disables the touchpad, but I like that it is a function key too
-Ryzen 5 with integrated graphics. AMD has come a long way IMO, and I am happy with the performance. I upgraded from an old Toshiba with an AMD single core, and I must say, the R5 is living up to its advertising.
-Good sound. I work in a professional environment, so I haven't fully tested the speaker capabilities, but I can hear the audio clear without having to crank it up to 100% (or 11 if your a Spinal Tap fan)
-It has a 2.5HDD/SSD expansion area and comes with the adapters, just note the case is a little tricky to open, and you do have to connect the data cord to the motherboard slot, so if you're faint of heart, it may not be for you, it was not an issue for me so I am not taking an egg off for that.
Cons: -4gb of soldered ram, advertised as 8gb, didn't say that it was 4gb + 4gb. It has a 4gb stick installed in the single expansion slot. I upgraded to an 8gb stick, so there is 12gb total now. Supposedly it will take up to a 16gb stick, so with this machine, 20gb max, which is probably overkill, I think you'll run out of processing power before the ram becomes an issue.
-number pad is scrunched and set up funny
-function key is set up to run media keys rather than function keys and you have to go into BIOS to change that setting
-Top is aluminum and finger prints show up just by looking at it wrong, and its hard to wipe it down and have the prints come off
Overall Review: I like it. My cons are what they are, but I would buy this machine again.
It isn't fancy and you're not going to be doing any sort or gaming, if that is what you're looking for, I don't know why you would be considering this machine anyway.
The left hand side has two USB slots, the USB-C slot, the HDMI port, the ethernet port and the charging port. It can get cramped with cables when you have everything needing to be plugged in on that side.
No optical drive
No SD slot
Pros: Worked out of the package
Updated without issue
Overall Review: No issues so far. I am running a Windows and Linux partition, and it handles without issue. It breathed life into an old laptop.
I got this on sale and so far has been worth the sales price, you may want to wait for a sale to pick this one up too.
-no issues or lost data
Overall Review: -I haven't done a speed test, but transfers are fast when using USB 3 ports
-has about 57gb of actual capacity
Pros: The right cord to fix a broken jack.
Overall Review: Looks, feels and performs like the OEM cable.
Have fun tearing the laptop apart to get to the jack though.
Cons: -The cloning software names the SSD the same name as the HDD which caused boot issues I had to correct, kind of a pain in my keester
Overall Review: -I like samsung SSDs, the off brands work too, but I think there is better quality control with samsung
Overall Review: -Does what it is supposed to
Pros: -Good price point if you can get it on sale
-6 core/12 threads
-screen is bright
-power plug is same as the last MSI I bought so I have a cord in the front room and a cord in the bedroom
-Slot for NVMe M.2 SSD (have to remove the optane if it comes with it )
-Ram upgradable to 32gb
Cons: -WD Blue HDD 5500rpm (cost the egg)
-drangon doesn't light up
Overall Review: -Optane works decent and will get you decent boot times. Before I switched out the Optane for an SSD the boot time was about 30 seconds, not bad, but not 10 seconds with the SSD.
-To remove the Optane you have to disable its function in Windows and then turn it off in the BIOS
-Removing the bottom isn't complicated, just go slow and get all the plastic clips
-Inserted Corsair ram without issues
-reviews have said the keyboard is squishy, I have no complaints with the keyboard, I don't know what they're talking about
Overall Review: -used this to connect headphones into an old stereo unit
Pros: I5 with 8gig ram
Windows 10 preinstalled
Two PCI Express x1 slots
One PCI Express 16 slot
One PCI slot
Cons: Two display outputs one is HDMI the other is DisplayPort, which gives an HD signal, so why not do two HDMI?
Power fan bearing going out so the fan gets loud sometimes
One HHD bay
Overall Review: This is a great used product, I have purchase a total of 4 for my business and have not had any issues with them. These were well build machines that will last me for many years to come. I think this would be a great machine for lighter improvements such as a SSD or a low budget graphics card, but I don't need any of that for work.
I have now had these machines for two years. Everything is still working. Even the machine with the fan bearing issue is still going. I have purchased a second set of these machines with the same specs from this vendor. I would will buy from them in the future if the need arises.
Pros: Connects the DVI to HDMI without any issue
Cons: -None, even the price was good without a sale
Overall Review: I bought this when my 12 foot HDMI to DVI cable fell and the HDMI end got damaged. I plugged this into the DVI port and have not had any issues. DVI and HDMI use the same signal, but DVI lacks the audio capabilities, but I have a bluetooth system so it works for me.
I have purchased tons of coboc cables in the past and I am yet to have one fail to perform.
Pros: -The wifi feature was simple and easy to use
-Can print from your phone with the xerox app
-the stock toner lasts a long time, I have printed over 2500 pages and it is still going strong
-set up is easy
-Print preferences are easily changed and it prints relatively quick
Cons: -the printer and scanner work, but are pretty sluggish, that is where it lost an egg, even for a consumer unit I expected the scanner to be a bit faster. If you're going to need fast scanning and printing this unit isn't for you.
Overall Review: -I got this unit on sale, I have seen it come up for sale every couple of months, and I would get it through the sale.
-It has been the primary printer and I haven't been disappointed.
Pros: Good brightness and contrast settings.
The stand is good so you don't feel like it is going to fall over when you touch it.
The power cord was long enough to get to the pug without worries
Overall Review: -It doesn't come with any cables (hdmi, dvi, etc) so if you need them be sure to order them seperate
Pros: Rosewill, synonymous with quality.
Well made with a thick housing. This cable is not flimsy.
Cons: Turns out I didn't need a six foot cable, but that is on me, not the cable
Overall Review: I am buying another one.
Pros: This is a sturdy, well made cable.
I bought this to connect my laptop to my projector. The projector didn't have HDMI (only DVI), but DVI is essentially the same signal, and I have not had any issues with this cord. It works as it should.
It is extra long so I don't have to leave my laptop on the floor to be stepped on
Overall Review: I have purchased many cords from different companies, but Coboc is a company that I know makes quality products. I am not a paid spokesman, just a satisfied repeat customer.
Pros: Top quality at affordable prices. I've purchased several of these from G. Skill and have never had issues.
Pros: Heavy duty and better constructed than apple's OEM cord. It is ten feet long, which means I can plug it in behind my night stand and not be struggling for space. It also means I can plug my ipad into the computer to charge it and not have my kids jumping all over me while playing on it.
Overall Review: I don't care for the premium apple makes you pay for their products, and in the case of this cord, an inferior product. I will be ordering another one of these. I got mine on a shellshocker deal so it was even cheaper.
Pros: -Trackpad becomes disabled when you plug in a wireless mouse and reengages when you unplug it, huge bonus points.
-Installation instructions for overriding W8 were clear and concise and the drivers and utilities are available for W7 on the disk provided with the computer. CD with the drivers crashed after install and wouldn’t load again so I had to go to the website to get the utilities, a minor inconvenience. CD forces an install of Norton. Norton can suck it, no thanks MSI.
-upgraded to 16gb ram, recognized without issue. The trade out was simple. There is a warranty void sticker, but MSI claims trading out the ram or upgrading a few other components really won't void it, but take that as you will.
-runs virtual box, a movie and rendering software without breaking a sweat
Cons: -Plastic case for the main body seems sturdy, however the lid seems like it will break if you look at it wrong, this is where it loses an egg. Overall the hardware is good, but the case is something it seems they cheeped out on.
-It does have a 7200rpm hdd. It is made by HGST, so it probably isn’t running anywhere near where it should. For the price, I expected better quality hardware, so it loses an egg for that.
Overall Review: -the realtek sound manager is good for the audio, but sucks it up on the microphone. Part of it is due to the microphone not being that special to begin with. I didn’t buy the laptop for the microphone so it doesn’t lose an egg for that.
-I upgraded the msata slot with a 128gb ssd. Boot time was approximately 1 min 56 seconds, now, 15-20sec. Blazing fast. Upgrade the drive or get the msata , or both, whatever, its your machine.
Pros: its ripjaws, its quality. expensive, yes, but worth the price every time.
Pros: Thin, light weight and portable, and you don't feel like it is going to break sitting in your backpack. Uses the micro B usb connection so if you lose the cord you don't have to pay a premium for a proprietary cord.
Overall Review: Have to update the firmware on arrival. Remember that W7 & 8 do not natively support BR. The package comes with PowerDVD, which works, but I don't like it. There are other options out there, but I don't like them much either. I can archive a BR in about an hour.
Pros: -Owned this set for over two years and still goings strong, while a set of Crucial I bought at the same time failed
-Price for the performance
-G-Skill, enough said
Cons: None, as expected
Overall Review: I have liked the ripjaws series and have put it in all of my new builds and laptops. Like I said, it won't disappoint. A little more expensive, but worth every extra penny because I have read enough reviews to and know the company will stand by the product if there are issues.
Pros: -Great length
-owned for over a year without any issues
-doesn't feel like you're going to pull the wires out when removing it from the stereo or 3.5mm jack
Overall Review: I used this to connect my laptop to the tv before I got HDMI. I then used it in my car to connect my phone to my car stereo since it had RCA audio in capabilities. The cord was 6ft long so even the passengers in the back seat could connect to it to share the music with the car.
Pros: -Worked out of the box
-Computer case was in great condition
-Genuine Windows Refurbish Key Code provided
-Wireless accessory connected to WIFI without issue
-No bloatware installed, clean copy of Windows 7
Overall Review: I purchased this unit as a replacement for a friend that isn't tech savvy. The internal components on the machine are older generation parts, but they still work for everyday computing needs. If you're thinking about buying this machine to do hardcore gaming you're an idiot. The machine ran Netflix and SMPlayer at the same time without any lag, and processed Photoshop without too much lag time. This machine is worth the price for your basic computing needs.
Pros: Worked out of the box. Has HDMI, VGA, and audio in. Many different viewing settings.
Overall Review: It is what you pay for. It is a computer screen so if you're buying it thinking that the audio is going to be stellar, you'll be disappointed. I've used it as an extension monitor for my laptop and have not been disappointed by it.
Pros: Love the ridiculous storage capacity. I haven't had to worry about deleting files in a long time decreased boot time from 2min to 30 seconds. I've had this drive for 6 months and no issues. Replaced an OEM 320gig seagate.
I dual boot with windows 7 and Linux Mint and this drive boots fast into both partitions. I haven't had any issues with dual boots.
If I could afford a full SSD I would have, but since I can't, I'll take the advantages of this drive.
Cons: None. I've seen negative reviews about hibernation with Windows, but I don't think having to wait 30 seconds for the laptop to wake up is worth losing an egg.
Overall Review: This drive goes on sale for under $100 every couple of months, so if you want to wait you can usually get it for a good price with free shipping.
I put the 7500rpm/750gig version of this drive in my wife's mac, and booted to mac's OS, Linux and Windows on it, so if you wanted to tri-boot these hybrid drives, you're in luck.
Pros: Recognized by W7 and XP without any issues. There is a lot of storage space for the price. There are no issues as far as functionality goes. This is the second WD I've purchased, the last one went 4.5 years before giving up the ghost, so I know this one will be reliable. (see cons section for why it lost an egg)
Cons: Formatted it is about 450gb. That is a big difference in the advertised 500gb. I understand that there will be less space than advertised, but 10% less is fairly unreasonable.
Overall Review: use it to backup my system. I've done three backups and have not had issues with timing out or read errors. Its a good piece of equipment if you can get it on sale. just be aware that it has 10% less space than advertized.
