Absolutely Amazing

LIAN LI PC-A70A Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case
LIAN LI PC-A70A Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case is incredible. I've never seen any computer case designed so well. Pretty much everything can be modified or changed to suit your needs. And yes, this thing is HUGE, so be prepared for that. Lots of screws of all kinds included, and they even included a tool for tightening the motherboard fasteners. For those of you looking to add a large fan to the side (I haven't gotten to this point quite yet), a 250mm fan would fit easily and a 360mm fan could theoretically fit, but it might be tight. Removing the two 120mm fans behind the primary harddrive stack would give some more space (yes, they can be easily removed, as can the vertical video card support bar. just need to remove a couple screws). The fans included are okay for being stock fans (quiet but not high CFM fans). The front faceplate simply pulls off for easy access, so no more messing around those with annoying plastic clamps that hold most PC face plates on.

Cons: The primary harddrive bay stack can be rotated 180 degrees, but make sure you take your time as there are several parts which connect to it and it can be a little confusing. The only other complaint that I have is that the harddrive and power LEDs aren't long enough to be snapped into the wire holder at the bottom front corner with the power and reset switch wires, but its not a big deal.

Overall Review: If you're wondering about the funny harddrive bays, the case is designed so that there is a rubber o-ring between the harddrive screw and the case to eliminate vibration noises. Again, this case is mind blowing. I heavily modified my old case, and this is like upgrading from a BMW to a Ferrari. I got it on sale ($50 off), but knowing what I know now I would even pay full price for it.

IDE adapter works in BIOS, not in Windows 7 x64

Rosewill RC-216 PCI Express eSATA II x 2 / ATA 133 x1 RAID 0/1/0+1/JBOD mode Controller Card
Rosewill RC-216 PCI Express eSATA II x 2 / ATA 133 x1 RAID 0/1/0+1/JBOD mode Controller Card

Pros: Automatically detected by bios on MSI 990FXA-GD80, allowed me to boot to the attached IDE drive (CD/DVD). I assume the SATA adapters work (I never tried them), but being limited to using only 2 of the 4 is disappointing. This is the only reason the card gets 2 eggs instead of just 1.

Cons: Both NewEgg and Rosewill indicate that the card is supported under Windows 7 x64 (via Vista x64 drivers). However, the IDE interface and IDE CD/DVD drive would not work under Windows 7 despite my numerous attempts. I purchased the product specifically for the IDE adapter, so without a functional IDE adapter the card is worthless to me. Rosewill driver and firmware upgrade documentation is terrible, and Rosewill customer support is completely unreachable. A note about the firmware upgrade process: the program used to upgrade the firmware is a 16-bit program, and as a result CAN'T be run on x64 editions of Windows. The instructions say to run the program "from DOS". Not sure if "DOS" simply means a command prompt or DOS 6.22 (DOS 6.22 sounds ridiculous, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case).

Overall Review: First time Rosewill has let me down. I will probably continue to buy their products, but I will be much more careful.

High Quality and Very Sturdy

Mount-It! Single Monitor Arm Mount Desk Stand | Full Motion | Fits 19-32 Inch Screens
Mount-It! Single Monitor Arm Mount Desk Stand | Full Motion | Fits 19-32 Inch Screens

Pros: Very good quality and extremely sturdy! None of the joints or elbows so much as wiggle. The base plate is solid steel approximately 6mm thick!!

Cons: Only con is that it was missing 3 screws that attach the vertical pole to the base. Not worth knocking off an egg since (1) I was able to get replacement screws (6mm x 10mm) at the hardware store and (2) the rest of the unit is extremely good quality.

Overall Review: Used in conjunction with a 20" LCD monitor (~6 pounds).

5 Months and still works great!

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Size, cost. I've had this drive for 5 months now and it still works wonderfully. See my "other thoughts."

Cons: None!

Overall Review: I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone buying a harddrive should also buy a harddrive cooler. Keeping the drive cooler will lengthen the life of the drive. After all, if you're going to spend a bunch of money to store your data, why not pay another few dollars to buy a harddrive cooler to make sure your drive doesn't overheat? My guess is that a lot of the problems with these big harddrives are from heat issues.

Awesome Fan

AeroCool XtremeTurbine-Blue Case Cooling Fan
AeroCool XtremeTurbine-Blue Case Cooling Fan

Pros: moves a lot of air without a lot of noise. i currently have two of these and i plan on getting two more for a total of four in my machine.

Cons: none.

Overall Review: although this fan is already very quiet, if you want to reduce the noise level even farther (for example, during a quiet movie) just get a fan speed controller.
