Well they don't lie, really.
Pros: Read speeds are indeed ~300mb/s Heavy and expensive feeling. Really though, it feels very premium, if that's something you're concerned with. It's got a nice size to it, not too chunky and not so small it's hard to remove from a port. Narrow enough to not block other ports.
Cons: Write speeds are atrocious. Around 45-50mb/s for large contiguous files, but things like installers and programs with lots of small files, around 14-16mb/s. That's very slow, but if you only need to put them on there once, you'd be fine.
Overall Review: I'd buy it again, I don't need a crazy fast drive, but if you do, look for a more expensive model, because this one won't do it.
Loud and proud?
Pros: First off, these are cheap, so bear that in mind. Large storage space, relatively fast.
Cons: It's a loud drive. This doesn't bother me, but it's definitely a con. Lots of seek noise when writing/reading, and even the initial spin up is a noisy affair. They're power hungry. I had to put this on a separate rail from my other drives, because it sucks so much juice. And to go with that, they get toasty. Runs at nearly double the heat of my other 3 drives. Idles around 21-23c, I've seen it reach 32c. That's pretty warm. I've decided to move it to a separate bay, and get a fan just for it. The first one I ordered was DOA, this happens and isn't the reason I'm taking an egg off. HDDs are a tough thing to ship.
Overall Review: Between the heat, the power and the noise I'm just going to dock an egg. I knew going into this that it's a bit of a gamble, but as it's considerably cheaper than "name brand" drives (they seem to all be hitachi) that have proper long warranties and you really need to consider that. I was willing to take the gamble, but for the first year or so, nothing important is going on this drive. I'm still not confident in it fully. Willing to risk it? go for it, it's a decent drive and the 1 year warranty would cover any defective units in the short run. Notice a lot of people are complaining about it failing in a couple months. Keep an eye on it with crystaldisk and you should at least know when it's going to fail.
Pros: Used these with item# N82E16835103052 and they work great.
Cons: Little hard to plug the fans into them, and even the molex end was a bit of a pain to get connected. Once connected though it's a nice solid connection that should last. Taking one egg off because of this. When you're dealing with tight spaces the last thing you need/want is a hard to plug in connector.
Pros: They all work! They spin in the correct directions? There's 4 of them, which is a great deal more than one. Black fans blend into most builds.
Cons: I can't think of any cons at the moment. They're maybe not as quiet as other more expensive fans? (duh) They're replacing a system full of very loud dying fans, that even multiple refills of oil couldn't save.
Overall Review: These appear to be "repairable" meaning there appears to be a sticker covering a plug that you can put fresh oil in when they inevitably start to die. I don't know how effective it will be, but hell if they last even 2 years they'll be doing great.
Pros: Consistency between the two main switches is almost perfect. The actuation point for both left and right click buttons is huge and across it the force required is very consistent. Great sensor, no studder, jitter, or errant movement. The on the fly DPI selection is a cool toggle switch. Removable grip panels are great, though I wish there were more options. In any case, the two provided work for the two main grip styles. RGB lighting is a nice accent, and not over done. Mouse doesn't look like a disco ball. Adjustable weights is really cool and actually makes an impact on mouse use. Ceramic feet glide over normal mouse pads. Sometimes they squeak if there's a little moisture on the pad, but I don't really consider it a con. Seriously though, on the right surface you could use this as an air hocky puck.
Cons: Braided cable looks nice, but snags on any rough surface like crazy. It's also pretty stiff, so it takes some getting used to. When I got mine I had two of the same grip panel in the box. Customer support was awesome and fixed it right away. RGB has no ability for different modes. Stuck in "breathing" so provided you like that mode, you're set. The little tray that holds the weights can be hard to put back in there, but hopefully you don't need to do it often.
Overall Review: All in all, this is a great mouse. I've been using it for a little over a month now every day and it still looks brand new. It feels sturdy in the hand, even with a removable panel, there's no creak or groan. You can feel that it's a pretty decently well built mouse. The lighting could be fixed to allow for different modes, but other than that I don't think the software needs much work. I'm not really a big user of macros, so until I find a reason to do that I can't really comment on those. Having owned a number of mice including several larger name brand gaming mice, this is a steal at it's price.
Fantastic little kit!
Pros: Lets be real, there are a ton of these things both here and other sites, but I honestly think this is the nicest built one. Sturdy and with a slick black paint job, it fits well and holds the drive secure. It comes with a screwdriver and little spudger tool to help you remove the old cover plate/drive. As well as little rubber screws that dampen shocks and hold the HDD/SSD firmly in place.
Cons: The instructions are a little poor. There were a few typos and some of the steps refer to features not present on the Caddy I received. I've done all this before, so it wasn't really a hassle for me, but I can see less technically minded people struggling The included screwdriver is terrible, most laptops have lots of loctite on the screws, and so the weak and small driver stands a better chance of stripping the heads or its self before removing any screws. If you have access to anything better, use it. I used the included one to make sure it could be done, and while it can, it's not easy.
Overall Review: This is a great caddy, and I fully recommend it. If I need another, I'm definitely buying this one again.
