good player

COBY 2.4" 4GB Touchpad Video MP3 Player With FM MP757
COBY 2.4" 4GB Touchpad Video MP3 Player With FM MP757

Pros: 1. Cover art displayed on screen if in mp3 metadata 2. Reproduced music well even with provided headphones 3. Photos looked nice on display 4. FM radio is okay. 5. Battery lasted about 10hrs of continuous music play w/ some photo browsing and occasional changes to genre/playlist 6. Aesthetically pleasing 7. Recognized automatically by Win7, syncs with no issue with WMP (never bothered with Coby's included software)

Cons: 1. Controls are not consistent between file types. 2. Controls not intuitive at times 3. Sluggish response to button inputs 4. Very limited file types for video 5. FM radio suffered in a pocket 6. Provided headphones not that comfortable 7. 3.6 gigs of 4 gigs available after deleting included music, photos and software

Overall Review: When pressing M or = inputs, there may or may not be lag or unresponsiveness depending on what you were doing. Once you're used to its temperament it is less of an issue, but it can be frustrating at first without patience for learning when to tap again or when to let it catch up. The controls can be very sensitive to input. The one good thing in this is you can "wiggle" the volume up and down very quickly, the down side is you can accidentally trigger buttons you didn't mean to by getting a finger too close to them. At vol 15 (about 1/2 max vol) it was more than enough to drawn out a bunch of people talking in a programming lab, at 10 was enough for walking about campus. The device looks nice and has a bit of heft when holding it in the hand, doesn't feel flimsy. Assuming the battery charge keeps to around 7-10hrs of playback and the control quirks stay consistent to what I mentioned, it is a good player for the price point. Holds a bit over 900 mp3 files and 30 HD photos for me

Good speakers

Logitech X-530 70 Watts 5.1 Speaker
Logitech X-530 70 Watts 5.1 Speaker

Pros: Good sound for the price. Cable length for rear speakers is ok.

Cons: Cable length from speakers to pc out feels somewhat short, limited my options on how/where I could arrange my pc and speakers.

Overall Review: For the price, the sound quality is good if you're looking for a simple set up.

Works well.

LG DVD±RW SuperMulti Drive 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model GH22NS50 Bulk

Pros: Works well. Around same noise as system fan during reads.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Installed on Windows 7 rig. Auto-detected and auto-installed drivers with no problem. Ripped 43 CDs to hard drive, no issues so far. Pretty quiet, not sure what previous noise complaint reviews were about (case manages noise poorly? Faulty unit?). Mine works well, I approve.

It works

Link Depot C6M-7BUB 7 ft. Cat 6 Blue Network Cable
Link Depot C6M-7BUB 7 ft. Cat 6 Blue Network Cable

Pros: Works.

Cons: It did not not work? Double negatives, woot.

Overall Review: I like Link Depot cables in general. Price is ok and I've only had one be defective on arrival out of all the ones I've bought so far.

Trash.

TRENDnet TEW-432BRP Wireless Broadband Router 802.11b/g up to 54Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4
TRENDnet TEW-432BRP Wireless Broadband Router 802.11b/g up to 54Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4

Pros: Newegg shipped out my purchase quickly as usual and UPS delivered it ahead of their scheduled delivery date as usual.

Cons: Wireless from 3 ft away, LoS / no obstructions had less than 25% signal strength, which would then consistently drop. Very temperamental piece of junk. Either it was a faulty product or I got hosed with a bad unit that I should have returned. Whatever the case based off of this, I certainly don't recommend this defunct router and will not buy this brand ever again.

Overall Review: Did not have a chance to install for a couple of months (long boring story), when I finally did I find out that I wish I had so I could have known to return it for a new unit or for my money back as it were. Lamesauce.

Almost perfect

Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Lots of room inside even when trying to fit long video cards (fit my extra long video card at about an inch shy of the drive bays, and it fit a V8 snugly). Aiiiiir. So much air. My temps stay very low (30's-40's) even with long sessions or lots of gaming on just air, which is nice. I imagine this thing would be frosty paired with water cooling. Good construction (aside from a glaring con, see below) that made it very easy to drop in and add most components except for the V8 (my own fault for not thinking ahead on that one though). Pretty good cable management. I always leave the case lights on, the honeycomb blue pattern it splashes on my walls is relaxing.

Cons: The front panel audio static! >.< There's an issue with how the front panel audio connectors are constructed that can cause popping/hissing static when connecting headphones. This goes from somewhat annoying to unbearable when (ironically) playing anything with a sound file. Between the onboard sound and the additional sound card I have enough ports to get around this, but that's no excuse for a known issue with this case variation. A shame too, it should be a 5 egg case if it weren't for this.

Overall Review: I always pull a complement from people who see this beast, even from non-geek types that think it's a really eye catching case. Don't forget to clean your front intake air filters to keep that cool air flowing. Maintenance has been so much nicer by having those front intake filters catch so much of the dust and it's made for some funny conversation starters, "what am I doing right now? Oh nothing, cleaning my pc filters."
