second time around

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 95W Processor - HH80562PH0568M
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 95W Processor - HH80562PH0568M

Pros: cheap, got a G0 stepping (i doubt theres any B3's left out there now), overclocks like a dream.

Cons: it wasnt cheaper ? not 45nm....

Overall Review: i put this into a Gigabyte EP45 UD3P motherboard and cooled it with a Thermaltake SpinQ, great combo.

Most Critical Review

no good for me

KINGWIN HDMIC-02 6 ft. Black HDMI Male to DVI Male Extension Cable
KINGWIN HDMIC-02 6 ft. Black HDMI Male to DVI Male Extension Cable

Pros: cheap, hdmi to dvi

Cons: it works, but when i hooked this up between my 24 inch monitor and PS3 it made weird white dots / little lines randomly pop up all over the screen, was really noticeable looking at dark pics / screens.

Overall Review: go for something better :)

Best of the Best

EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED "Overclocker's Pick" 3-Way SLI + PhysX 1366 Intel X58 EATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED "Overclocker's Pick" 3-Way SLI + PhysX 1366 Intel X58 EATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: This is pretty much the ultimate motherboard full stop, the layout has always been a problem for me on other boards but this one has it down to a T. The pulsating red 'E' on the northbridge is a nice touch too, definately the best looking board i've ever seen. The Dummy O.C setting in the BIOS is cool, it will automatically adjust CPU overclock settings for you, in my case it set my 920 to 3.33ghz from 2.66.

Cons: PRICE !!! it is so expensive for a motherboard.

Overall Review: Do not buy this just because it's the best, if you don't know what you're doing setting up a board like this and know about tweaking everything then this is not the board for you it would be a waste, infact if you're not going to be doing Tri-SLI and adding a Physx and soundcard on top then you might aswell just get the regular evga board.

i like

BFG Tech GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card BFGEGTX260MC896OCE
BFG Tech GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card BFGEGTX260MC896OCE

Pros: lifetime warranty was easy to set up and register, works great in SLI, the scaling has gotten a lot better than the last time i tried it a year ago, also the drivers seem a lot more stable. i know this is the 65nm version not the 55nm version but it doesnt make any noticeable difference, also i like the backplate on the 65nm ones too, i dont like bare pcb.

Cons: runs pretty hot, around 80 degrees after playing for a while, bottom card runs about 85.

Overall Review: 2 of these in SLI will play anything at 1920x1080 with good framerates. going to add a 3rd one when i get bored.

good for the price

Wintec AMPX 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 3AXH1600C8WS6GT
Wintec AMPX 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 3AXH1600C8WS6GT

Pros: the price for this kit was only 67 bux when i bought it, that is serious value for money. it can go all the way to 1600 at 1.65v but if you're not overclocking then you can set these to 1.5v and just settle for them at 1066 / 1333.

Cons: none.... some LED's for less than a bucket of money like the 6gb tracers would have been nice.

Overall Review: make sure you are running a 64bit operating system otherwise half of your memory kit will be wasted.

don't even need to write a review

Intel Core i7-920 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1366 130W Processor - BX80601920
Intel Core i7-920 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1366 130W Processor - BX80601920

Pros: quad core hyperthreaded = 8 threads !!!!! for CPU dependant games like Lost Planet this will SMOKE any other series of CPU's. Also for converting video it is stupidly fast.

Cons: $288.... it cost almost as much as my motherboard.

Overall Review: don't be silly and buy an i940 or 965 for all that extra money, you can just tweak a couple of things in the bios and have it running much faster than both of those a piece of cake.
