Works great in Windows 7 x64

DViCO FusionHDTV7 Dual Express DUAL HDTV/Analog TV Tuner Card W/PVR
DViCO FusionHDTV7 Dual Express DUAL HDTV/Analog TV Tuner Card W/PVR

Pros: Overall, this is a very good dual digital tuner. I have had a great experience recording and watching live TV - sometimes doing both at once. It comes with a remote, which is very convenient. It works great in Windows XP 32-bit and Windows XP x64.

Cons: Tweaking it to work in Linux is a nightmare. No matter what I did, I could not get the remote to work. I also had to use new v4l-dvb drivers rather than the ones included in the kernel to get the device to work. It did work great without the remote in Linux after that, though, but the remote spoiled me. On some programs, I have noticed it tuning the picture brightness without doing anything. Sometimes, it will progressively darken. Also, the quality of the picture is still better when watching the TV through its tuner as opposed to through this tuner.

Caused hardware weirdness

ADATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD2U800B2G5-DRH
ADATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD2U800B2G5-DRH

Pros: Price

Cons: I installed the kit using proper ESD precautions, including a grounded mat and wrist strap. When I tried to boot into Windows 7, I got a STOP error (116) with the graphics driver failing to reset, which never happened before. After researching that, I tried using onboard VGA instead of the graphics card. Onboard HD Audio failed to be detected as an audio driver in Windows; instead, it was detected as a "High Definition Audio Controller" in System Devices in the Device Manager. My motherboard has four memory slots, so I tried this with my old RAM installed and not installed - same problems. After returning to my original setup, with the graphics card installed and without this RAM, my system worked perfectly. No more STOP error. Audio detected perfectly and sounding great. Unfortunately, I had to conclude that the source of my problems was the RAM. I am returning it for a refund, shipped today with an RMA from Newegg.

Great addition to speed up computer

Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664AA800
Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664AA800

Pros: Works very well. Good price for 4 GB of memory.

Cons: Packaged in sealed plastic which had to be cut all around to open - a potential ESD hazard.

Works wonderfully

SYBA CL-CRD20023 USB 2.0 3.5" Drive Bay Internal Card Reader
SYBA CL-CRD20023 USB 2.0 3.5" Drive Bay Internal Card Reader

Pros: Low price. Works wonderfully at USB 2.0 speed. Works with Windows 7 ReadyBoost.

Cons: All the metal surfaces had plastic protective film on them, which was a pain to take off.

Great HDMI graphics

MSI GeForce 9400 GT 1GB GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card N9400GT-MD1G
MSI GeForce 9400 GT 1GB GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card N9400GT-MD1G

Pros: This is a great card. The drivers that came with it allow for overscan correction on an HDTV display. It works very well in Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 x64, connected via HDMI. It has an HDMI port, which is very nice, and it came with a DVI to VGA adapter to be used for the other DVI ports if you need to hook a VGA display to it.

Cons: The manual is inaccurate about the HDMI setup. No DVI-HDMI adapter is required, since the HDMI port that it comes with actually works well. However, to get HDMI audio, the SPDIF connection to the motherboard is required, which is done by connecting the card's SPDIF connector to the motherboard. The Linux drivers from nVidia need work, though. They lack the overscan correction for HDTV displays like the Windows driver has, and I had to tune the DPI manually in Linux.

Added life to an old computer!

CORSAIR 512MB DDR 333 (PC 2700) Desktop Memory Model VS512MB333

Pros: I just installed 2 sticks of this in an old Dell machine (to max it out) with the original 128 MB of RAM. It worked beautifully! It was detected right away, and the system recognized it all. No problems booting or anything. The system runs much faster, and this is exactly the boost that it needed!

Cons: None.
