Awesome board, but it has some weird issues

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 Ultra (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Motherboards - AMD
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 Ultra (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Motherboards - AMD

Pros: I can throttle this board to give me an outstanding overclock (4.00GHz stock to 4.8GHz). For that reason alone I love it. Supports SLI, M.2 SSD, has USB 3.1 and Type-C and all that good cutting-edge stuff. The Heatsinks/heatpipe for the Northbridge helps keep it a lot cooler than my old board but it still get pretty warm.

Cons: The fan controller on this board just can't find a happy medium. It will underwork your fans, causing things to get hot so then it will respond by overworking them. It's not bad, just irritating. I installed SpeedFan and now it's fine. Powering on this PC is always stressful. Everything instantly comes on, then goes dark for about two seconds, then POSTs and finally boots. I don't know what the deal is. It always works, it just freaks the hell out of me every time. Maybe it's overcurrent protection but I haven't fooled with that in the BIOS, which looks dated but works fine.

Overall Review: Overall, this board is awesome. The fan controller is the only thing that bothers me but SpeedFan solved that problem.

If you have the room for it, there's no reason not to have it

Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate (CL-W007-PL12BL-A) Enthusiasts Class Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 360MM
Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate (CL-W007-PL12BL-A) Enthusiasts Class Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 360MM

Pros: -Works fantastically. At 50% load and 4.2 GHz, my FX 8350 package temperature is only 30°C and the fans are still spinning at their lowest speed. It looks great and is pretty quiet despite adding three additional fans to my system. When running Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at 4K with most of the settings cranked, the fans were barely noticeable. It should be noted that I have a PWM controller but all my fan speeds are dependent on my CPU temperature, which is always kept low by this cooler. -Cooling potential allows for plenty of overclocking headroom. I managed to get 4.5GHz from my system without too much change in load temperatures thanks to the additional thermal mass and faster heat dissipation. -Hoses are a good length, allowing me to configure the radiator facing either direction while the water block still reaches the socket, albeit it's a close fit if I have the hoses in their farthest position from the CPU due to my memory bank cutting it close. -Includes a power splitter plus three adapter cables for your fans! I didn't need them but it's handy to have. -Size! This think is huge!

Cons: -Size! This thing is huge! Make sure it fits your case before buying. My NZXT H440 is roomy enough to accommodate this monstrosity without the case itself being too big. -The instructions are supposedly bad. I didn't even open them. Watch a tutorial instead. The installation itself is quite easy and fairly intuitive. -It feels like one of my hoses are longer than the other. It's probably nothing but it irks me a bit. -Fans seem to only be available in one color. They're quite good and my build is all black and white so this wasn't an issue for me.

Overall Review: I sort of wish that the water block had some fancy lighting effect like my old Deepcool Captain 120 or the new NZXT coolers. Regardless, they don't deliver the cooling potential this thing does so I don't really care. For such a powerful AIO cooling solution, it's a pretty good price. I highly recommend this product if you're an enthusiast. Any ordinary gamer could probably benefit from a smaller, better value AIO liquid cooler and spend the difference on something else like more Mountain Dew Red Alert and Nacho Cheese Doritos.

Outstanding Card

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition, 08G-P4-5173-KR, 8GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC)
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition, 08G-P4-5173-KR, 8GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC)

Pros: For the price, this card is probably comparable to the GTX 1080. Absolutely unbeatable overall quality.

Cons: Be careful removing the protective plastic on the LED shroud. I almost broke the shroud right off.

What can I say? It's great.

CORSAIR RMx Series RM750X 750W 80 PLUS GOLD Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply
CORSAIR RMx Series RM750X 750W 80 PLUS GOLD Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply

Pros: Powerful and fully modular, the RM 750X is a very attractive option. It's also very thermally efficient, so the fan rarely comes on, making it virtually silent. Helps cut down on my electric bill, too.

Cons: None. This is the best PSU I've had.

Gorgeous and works well.

DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 120 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3
DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 120 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: Undoubtedly the nicest looking closed-loop water cooler I've seen. And it just works. It's also very light. I was concerned when I got it that the radiator was empty. This was not the case.

Cons: I can actually hear the pump, but I think that's because my PC is very quiet. The plastic on the pump feels cheap but it's nothing to worry about.

Simple, beautiful, quiet and easy to use.

NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FN V2 Fans, High-End WC Support, USB3.0, PWM Fan Hub, White/Black
NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FN V2 Fans, High-End WC Support, USB3.0, PWM Fan Hub, White/Black

Pros: With my setup, this case eliminates basically all noise unless I'm gaming. I can actually hear the pump in my water cooling loop. It's fantastic. I also got some of the best cable management results I've ever had. This is mostly due to the rubber grommets and abundant openings for wires and cables, but also because of the sleek power supply shroud, where I could simply shove all my extra cable. Excellent case air flow, for the most part. The dust covers are pretty nice too. No complaints. Extremely robust and feels like quality. Love it. The price point makes this a fantastic value.

Cons: I had to remove the top two drive bays to fit my radiator, but I didn't need them anyway. I also wish that the ventilation didn't starve the fans so much but it really helps cut down on noise. Good trade-off. Putting the side panel back on is a challenge due to the excessive padding but it also helps reduce noise and promotes good cable management.
