Screw It!

Link Depot LD-SCREWSKIT Screw Kit
Link Depot LD-SCREWSKIT Screw Kit

Pros: This is a small box of screws for your case/s. About 10 screws of each type and the plastic rivets you'll use in parts installation from motherboard to optical drives. Very handy for when you lose screws or order and OEM part with no hardware. It comes in a 3.75x2.625x0.875" divided case. Easy to open, stores about anywhere. Good price.

Cons: Wasn't free.

Overall Review: I was called a geek for buying this. I was a mechanic in a former life and you can just never have enough extra screws/nuts/bolts. I see where some reviews say this case is hard to open. Maybe it's just me and my nimble fingers but mine is really easy to open or they redid the case design. On the other hand, you don't want it too easy to open and have screws everywhere. Just slide a fingernail under the latch and pull forward. It's harder to close than open.

Works

Diablotek DA Series PSDA350 350 W ATX12V Power Supply
Diablotek DA Series PSDA350 350 W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Inexpensive and work.

Cons: Didn't turn my computers into new super gamers.

Overall Review: Got a couple of these to replace the inexpensive Rosewill psu's that got hit from a surge. Let's hope they last at least the 5 yrs the Rosewill's did and no surges. These are older computers.

Caviars

Western Digital WD Green WD5000AADS 500GB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital WD Green WD5000AADS 500GB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I have never had a caviar drive fail yet. All of them from the late 90's til this 500gb drive are still kickin and I leave my puters on 24/7. I got a caviar back in 2000 to replace a drive that failed after 3 months. This is back when drives were rated for 100,000 hours. It was 'top of the line' back then and they still work great now. Sure, it's mechanical and will fail one day but that day is not today!

Cons: Why do I always need more space?

Overall Review: I'll be buying Caviar drives until their quality fails.

Accident Review

Hanns-G 22" Active Matrix, TFT LCD WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms 1680 x 1050 D-Sub, DVI-D Hi-221DPB
Hanns-G 22" Active Matrix, TFT LCD WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms 1680 x 1050 D-Sub, DVI-D Hi-221DPB

Pros: Just a note: My cats knocked one of these over and it survived falling across the keyboard and to full stop. The power cord was loose so it didn't turn on but once I checked the plugs, it was fine aside from a scratch across the screen. So you know it will take a tumble.

Cons: I wonder if there's something to help keep the screen from getting scratched in a fall, although that should happen. But, if you don't clean them with special stuff they'll scratch too, I've seen that.

Overall Review: Good to know it'll take a decent fall.

So Nice I Bought It Twice

Hanns-G 22" Active Matrix, TFT LCD WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms 1680 x 1050 D-Sub, DVI-D Hi-221DPB

Pros: It's 22" for little money. It's very bright, crisp and clean. This is the second one with no dead pixels, none. Easy to hook up, easy to set the settings once you push the right button :P

Cons: It doesn't fold out to a 44"

Overall Review: I had a crt blow up and was looking at 19" to replace it and thought I'd just check on this 22. It was on sale again so I got it of course.

Great Setup

EVERCOOL NW11F-825CA 80mm Ball CPU Cooler
EVERCOOL NW11F-825CA 80mm Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: Inexpensive, design is right, fits snug, blazing fan with great cfm, comes with everything you need.

Cons: It's out of stock too much. I blame you guys for buying them up! As soon as I get another chance, I'm getting revenge on you guys! :P I've been trying to get these for about 2 years, finally it was in stock at purchase time.

Overall Review: I expected some temp reduction from my p4 3ghz I OC'd to 3.4ghz from idle of 44C but I didn't expect it to drop to idle of 32C. Ah well, I can live with that. A lot of ppl say the fan is noisy, well, it is a high volume cfm fan and I need that and it's the only fan I hear on my box. It's rather nice to hear it for once. It's a nice whirr.
