Good Box, Terrible Linux, No Flash Boot

Pros: Nice little box. Quiet with a quality build. 512M of DDR2-667 memory is ok for Linux. The hardware is fine and a really good deal. It makes a great internet box for a parent.
Cons: It doesn't boot off a flash drive and has no USB port on the front of the box. Not booting of a flash drive doesn't make sense on a new computer without a cd drive. The biggest problem, however, is Foresight Linux. What a mess. The rPath package manager has a limited selection of programs and couldn't even install Thunderbird. The other install program is conary but it's no emerge or apt-get. They are using an undocumented bootman instead of grub. It didn't recognize my USB wifi card that kubuntu recognized with no problem in 6.10. The software update I ran on install crashed and never worked again. It seems there are a lot of partially implemented bad ideas with no documentation.
Overall Review: Don't buy this without a USB-CD drive and a copy of Kubuntu 8.10. Newbies should not let this be their first Linux experience. I work with different Linux distributions a lot and this is the worst I've seen. It's nice hardwar for the money, too bad they used the worst Linux I've seen in years and overlooked the USB flash boot.
