Excellent Fill-In for Upgrade

AMD Sempron 145 - Sempron Sargas Single-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 45W Desktop Processor - SDX145HBGMBOX
AMD Sempron 145 - Sempron Sargas Single-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 45W Desktop Processor - SDX145HBGMBOX

Pros: Using this sempron as a filler until I decide on something better. I may wait for Piledriver; I need to see what comes out this Spring. Absolutely thrilled with the fact that I got a competent cpu w/ heatsink fan for $40. Haven't tried gaming or anything really intense with it. It works very well for daily computing (web, itunes, excel, photos etc). AMD always provides a value, and that is why I am a customer for life.

Cons: Unstable 2nd core (which my Asus m5a88-v evo unlocked easily). It's really the luck of the draw and you can't deduce eggs because your cpu doesn't do things it's not advertised as doing. My copy does not take kindly to much overclocking, although i'm sure someone with more experience than me could probably get it to work. I just get the feeling my specific cpu isn't one for unlock or overclock... but that is completely fine as it's not my main concern. FYI it seems that most people can overclock these very easily; mine is the exception to the rule.

Overall Review: asus m5a88-v evo 8gb mushkin silverline ddr3 1333 Antec One case

Nippon Labs HDMI-HS-6 6 ft. HDMI 2.0 Male to Male High Speed Cable with Ethernet Channel, Black
Nippon Labs HDMI-HS-6 6 ft. HDMI 2.0 Male to Male High Speed Cable with Ethernet Channel, Black

Pros: Visuals are identical to the $100 monster cable it was compared to.

Cons: Sound transfer over the cable was buggy. Through my 5.1 system the sound goes in and out, sometimes ruining dialogue in a movie.

Overall Review: From my experiences, it is worth the risk. It's very cheap, but by the looks of the reviews it's more likely you'll get one that performs well than not. You payed 10 dollars... don't be upset if it does not work perfectly

stay away

Acer H213H bmid Black 21.5" 5ms HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ACM 20000:1 Built-in Speakers
Acer H213H bmid Black 21.5" 5ms HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ACM 20000:1 Built-in Speakers

Pros: High resolution, good packaging, nice response time, no dead pixels, comes with 3 cables; great features but lacks the most important one- picture quality

Cons: Well... a lot -Colors are very washed out. I have calibrated many lcd monitors/tv's and this is absolutely the worst when it comes to color accuracy and blacks/whites. The disk allows for a few calibrations but they have little impact. -Way too bright. All of the presets (the ones most people will use) are too bright except for the "text" preset which has pitiful color -Viewing angles are absurd. I know this kind of screen is not supposed to have good viewing angles but even if you move your head an inch or two colors can change dramatically. -Horrible flicker when using ps3 or xbox over hdmi. Any scenes with black in them flicker and distort. I've tried all the settings, swapped cables (even consoles), and still find the color vibrancy to be lacking and flicker to be too bad to tolerate

Overall Review: LCDs are something I know a lot about, and this monitor was a true disappointment. Am going to return because there must be something wrong with this one; I can't imagine so many good reviews if everyone's performs like this. I even tried to calibrate it using color filters; filters (and of course the naked eye) revealed that this thing is not a good performing or accurate lcd This is my third bad experience with an Acer product Gets 2 eggs instead of one for the high resolution and great packaging

Cheap and works

XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 92mm Rifle CPU Cooler rev.w with bracket ACK-i5361 I7 i5 775 1155 and AMD compatible
XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 92mm Rifle CPU Cooler rev.w with bracket ACK-i5361 I7 i5 775 1155 and AMD compatible

Pros: Keeps my quadcore 9850 phenom cool. Installation onto an Asus board was simple with clearance for my ram. My cpu temps are idling around 27... for a 125w quadcore that's pretty good.

Cons: easy to bend parts of the heatsink, be careful when installing the fan. Took a look at the directions, threw them away, and found a review online which explained installation much better. This was my first build.

Overall Review: I love the design.

Affordable and powerful

PowerColor Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card AX4850 512MD3-DH
PowerColor Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card AX4850 512MD3-DH

Pros: Works perfectly. Runs Crysis at High on Max resolution with 2.5 quadcore phenom and 4gb ram @1066. Every other game... bioshock, COD, etc run completely maxed. Does not heat up my case as much as I thought.

Cons: Software on installation disk was buggy. Downloaded drivers from ati and all is well.

Overall Review: Definitely a bargain. This performs much better than I anticipated.

Keeps things cool

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0

Pros: I love the ability to install 6 total fans. The 200mm top fan is great because my cpu cooler blows air right out of it. It's solid built and the power supply bottom location makes for nice airflow. Comes with tons of screws and brackets, everything you need.

Cons: Mine did not come with a case speaker (i'm not sure if it is supposed to) Front audio jack does not work unless you are constantly pushing the jack in hard. Even with my mild setup cable management is a challenge (but totally doable with enough zip ties)

Overall Review: I would definitely buy another, but beware that it's not perfect. I do not like the fancy LED aspect of the case, I'm trying to figure out how to disconnect them. I'm not going to return for the audio jack because i don't want to remove anything; sometimes it's best to just let things be if you can live with them. I only bought this case because of the reputation and the airflow- my system is ice cold on air.
