Western Digital WD Green WD10EADS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: 2 of these drives reliably in continuous service since August 2009. Fast shipping with accurate online order tracking. Compared to prevoius drives used, these are extremely quiet and produce less heat. Upgraded 2 home media center system drives. Downloaded the free Acronis True Image WD Edition from WD support site to prepare and manage the drives. Partitioned, formatted and transferred both drives with minimum time and effort. Transferred Windows Vista Media Center OEM version from HP, including HP system restore partition, plus dual boot Ubuntu Linux. Family frequently uses these drives to store, backup and access music, photos, video and documents from multiple PCs and operating systems.

Cons: OEM drives were bubble wrapped in styrofoam trays cut from the larger OEM tray, then packed in styrofoam peanuts. Safely dissipated static electricity on anti-static bench pad after removing from styrofoam peanuts. Drive diagnostics before setup found no problems.
