Cons: I don't have anything to complain about at all. This is a great monitor.

Overall Review: Before I get into the actual review, I want to tell you a little bit about myself. Before I make a purchase, I deep dive into a product. I look at every single piece of information I can find and learn as much as possible, positive and negative. I spent months doing research on different types of panels and performance of a bunch of different monitors. I got this monitor for my Dad. He is coming from a 1080p 60hz VA panel. He recently got the Xbox Series X and wasnt happy with is because he claimed he didnt notice a difference from his Xbox One. I explained to him that its the monitor that doesnt match the specs of the new console. I picked this up for him for his birthday. He immediately noticed a difference and is loving the clarity and smoothness at 1440p 120hz. I tried it out and have no complaints. Gigabyte has been killing the game with their SS IPS monitors. This is the 3rd Gigabyte monitor ive bought and i love all 3 of them. I will continue recommending gigabyte monitors. They are making great panels at great prices. Great job Gigabyte!!!!

Another great monitor from Gigabyte

GIGABYTE M28U 28" 144Hz 2160P UHD 3840 x 2160 4K SS IPS, 1ms (GTG), 94% DCI-P3, HDR Ready, FreeSync Premium Pro, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4, 2 x HDMI 2.1, 3 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB Type-C KVM Gaming Monitor
GIGABYTE M28U 28" 144Hz 2160P UHD 3840 x 2160 4K SS IPS, 1ms (GTG), 94% DCI-P3, HDR Ready, FreeSync Premium Pro, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4, 2 x HDMI 2.1, 3 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB Type-C KVM Gaming Monitor

Pros: Great colors Super Speed IPS No noticeable ghosting or overshoot from 60Hz all the way to 144Hz HDMI 2.1 Tested with my Series X at 4K 120Hz and it works great Great Size Joystick feels good

Cons: I don't have anything to complain about at all. I am loving this monitor. But here are some things that could be different or improved on. The the max brightness isnt that high and HDR is not worth using in my opinion. If this monitor supported HDR 600, i would definitely pay the extra for it. I wish the joystick was on the bottom of the monitor like some of their AORUS monitors. 4K at 28 inches isn't really noticeably different than 1440p. If you have a keen eye, you will see some clarity improvements. For example, I can see a difference because i have years of experience with different monitors and TVs at different resolutions and different sizes. My girlfriend on the other hand, says it looks similar to my FI27Q-X. 4K does looks great but you could get away with getting a similar 27 inch 1440p 144Hz Super Speed IPS panel for your console. Again, these do not change my opinion of the monitor. Its an excellent choice, especially at this price.

I look at every single piece of information I can find and learn as much as possible, positive and negative. I spent months doing research on different types of panels and performance of a bunch of different monitors. I am a fan of what Gigabyte has been producing lately especially with their SS IPS monitors. I also have their FI27Q-X. With this being one of the first HDMI 2.1 Monitors, it is definitely a great choice. This is priced significantly lower than the other options right now and i feel like it remain one of the cheaper options featuring HDMI 2.1. If you're on the fence considering this monitor, i would recommend getting it.

The perfect monitor

Cons: I don't have anything to complain about at all. I am loving this monitor. But here are some things that don't change the way the monitor performs but could be different. RGB on the back. It's not bright enough to show on the wall and it seems like a gimmick. If the cost could be cut without it, that would be preferred. The on board active noise canceling for microphones is useless. Anyone spending this much on a monitor most likely has a dedicated microphone or a headset they use as a mic. I would prefer a cheap set of speakers for when I feel like just watching videos without a headset.

This monitor is not cheap and I want to really make sure that it will last me 5+ years. I am coming from a 1080p 144hz ASUS TN panel from 2015. That monitor has been great for me. With that said, I was looking for an upgrade with both resolution and refresh rate. I tested out 1 VA panel and immediately hated it. I am very sensitive to motion blur and overshoot and the VA panel was terrible. I started looking at fast IPS displays and came across this. I was hesitant at first because gigabyte is still fairly new to the monitor game. I pulled the trigger and got it. My first monitor had a dead pixel but Newegg accepted the return and I got my replacement at no additional cost. I love this monitor. There is no noticeable motion blur at all. No pixel overshoot. All the way from 60hz up to 240hz. I use it mostly on PC but I do use it with my Xbox series x as well. If you are looking to use it for PC and consoles, this monitor does support 1440p 120hz on the series x. I would definitely recommend this monitor. I've played a bunch of different pc and xbox games and have been very happy with it.
