Targus DEFCON® T-Lock Resettable Combo Cable Lock - PA410U
Targus DEFCON® T-Lock Resettable Combo Cable Lock - PA410U

Pros: Solid lock. They give you all the mounting hardware you need to mount a metal loop at your desk.

Cons: Not Fort Knox

Overall Review: The other reviewers do not know how to set this lock up. There are spacers that you need to install on the lock so that it will latch properly onto your particular laptop. The other reviewers do not understand this incredibly simple feature. After correctly shimming the lock it remains orthogonal to the mounting surface on my computer. It's completely secure. As for extracting your bank account PIN from this lock, WHY WOULD YOU USE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT PIN ON EVERYTHING YOU USE?? It's a laptop lock. It will be used to slow down thieves to the point where they can't successfully steal your computer without getting noticed. Unless you lock up your computer in front of the liquor store every night?? Before you leave a bad review, RTM - Read The Manual!!!!!! Geez

JUNK

StarTech DVISPL1DH 1 ft DVI-D to DVI-D & HDMI Splitter Cable - M/F
StarTech DVISPL1DH 1 ft DVI-D to DVI-D & HDMI Splitter Cable - M/F

Pros: Nope.

Cons: How about everything?

Overall Review: I read the other review for this and took a chance since this would have been perfect for mirroring my DVI monitor to my HDMI flatscreen TV. I plugged it in and there was no signal to my monitor. I played around with the connectors a little bit and finally an image appeared on my monitor but the entire screen was covered in errant pixels in neon green and pink. I then tried plugging an HDMI cable into it and my TV and the image on my monitor became clear and a clear image showed up on my TV. However, for some reason my graphics card was forced to switch to some weird resolution in 4:3 format so the image was stretched. If I tried changing the resolution the screen would go blank until restart. Also, no HDCP support. Awesome. I CAN CONFIRM THE OTHER REVIEW. DO NOT BUY.

Terrible terrible PC OS

Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (Full Version)
Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (Full Version)

Pros: It's new? I guess it seems faster, but it's that way every time I install a new OS, because there's nothing else on there to slow it down yet.

Cons: Where do I begin. The UI is atrocious. This metro thing they've got going on gives me high blood pressure just thinking about it. I'm going from Windows 7 to this. To me, Windows 7 is the peak of Windows design so far. Windows 8 is going back to the days of Microsoft Bob. I use dual monitors, and multitasking has become annoying at best.

Overall Review: Don't get me wrong, I'm all for change, but only if it makes sense. This doesn't. Like others have said this amounts to Windows 7 with a cell phone skin applied.

WOW!

Antec Three Hundred + BP430 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 430W Power Supply
Antec Three Hundred + BP430 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 430W Power Supply

Pros: I absolutely love this case. Usually I go through somewhat of a "buyers remorse" phase where I wonder if I should have saved my money. When I got this case I experienced none of that, I was just impressed. However, I upgraded from a stock HP case from 2006 so anything probably could have impressed me. -Fans are very reasonable audibly on their lowest setting. On high they're not too bad either but they seem to move a good deal of air on low. The front of the case can almost hold a piece of printer paper from the suction. -I noticed on the pics that there is no CPU cutout under the MB so you can access the backplate. I was disappointed by this because I bought it before seeing that. But when I received the case there actually was a cutout, so they must have changed the design slightly or something. -My HDD doesn't seem to be too loud like some of the other reviewers say. Perhaps if the case was on top of your desk it would be loud since the drives have a direct path to your ear

Cons: -Honestly I have no idea what I would use the side cable management pocket for. It doesn't seem like that would be an effective place to route cables. -The headphone jack is a little tight like some other reviewers have mentioned. But I guess a little tight is better than too loose, like many other things in life. -They should have designed the front fans a little closer together to match the screw spacing on a 240mm radiator so a water cooling system could just pop right in there after you removed the 2.5" drive rails. The fans could screw into the cages and the radiator could screw right on the the fans. -The light from the HDD indicator "bleeds over" into the surrounding area such as the top of the front fan cage. I can probably just paint or cover the side of the LED somehow but it's annoying in the meantime.

Overall Review: Screws!!!! Excellent Antec. Good Airflow. My system temps were affected at idle as follows (According to Speedfan): HDD: From 32*C down to 26*C Core: 23*C down to 19*C System Temp: 32*C down to 26*C CPU: Remained similar but I am able to slow the fan I really like the design. There aren't any rainbow LED's to accentuate your glitter covered motherboard, just a sensible, sleek, and understated theme that is somewhat industrial. The power/reset/status indicator area is designed very well. There is a certain quality to the overall construction that you may not find with a lesser brand. Also I have not used the power supply because I reused the one I had that has the side fan design, but I'm sure it works ok. It certainly looks well built. Good stuff.

Seems to be ok

MASSCOOL Fanner-420 Thermal Grease
MASSCOOL Fanner-420 Thermal Grease

Pros: -Very cheap -You get enough to do at least 4 applications -Thin enough to be easy to work with but not too thin -Comes with a little rubber cap that seals the end for storage

Cons: -Syringe is a little sensitive to pressure but I already knew this from the other reviews so I knew to be careful when squeezing

Overall Review: -I have used this on a processor heat sink but have not tested its effectiveness in this application yet. -I also replaced the thermal grease on my Galaxy GT430 graphics card because it was idling at like 40*C+. Immediately after reapplication the temps were still pretty high, it maybe dropped 1*C average. But I've had my computer running overnight and now the GPU is idling at 31-32*C with some light computer use on dual screens at 1600 x 900. Perhaps the thermal grease just had to set up or spread out completely. Or perhaps there was another factor I'm not aware of. Whatever the case it seems fine now.

Good card

ASUS Radeon HD 5450 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card EAH5450 SILENT/DI/512MD3(LP)
ASUS Radeon HD 5450 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card EAH5450 SILENT/DI/512MD3(LP)

Pros: I was a little worried about the fanless design but it's been ok so far. This went into my dad's computer so he can hook up to his plasma through HDMI. Works well. ATI drivers are easy to use compared to Nvidia.

Cons: VGA adapter cable is really short, so it's not very flexible in that respect. Seems to be a problem with most low profile cards.

Overall Review: Still waiting on my rebate. It was approved but from reading the other reviews I'm not too confident.
