Most Favorable Review

The only brand I buy

TAIYO YUDEN 4.7GB 8X DVD-R Inkjet Hub Printable 100 Packs Shrink Wrap Disc Model DVD-R47WPP600SK
TAIYO YUDEN 4.7GB 8X DVD-R Inkjet Hub Printable 100 Packs Shrink Wrap Disc Model DVD-R47WPP600SK

Pros: Extremely durable, resistant to chemical, light, and thermal weathering. One big plus is I've never had problems with compatibility. I use a Mac, a PC, a modified console for homebrew (which is VERY finicky about DVD format), and an older set-top DVD player (also finicky). I haven't had a bad DVD yet out of about 150 burned DVDs. I'm not allowed to name other brands, but I've tried a few big name DVD-Rs that my console and set-top wouldn't read; a HUGE drag after I burn some home movies and they can't be played because I bought "the wrong brand". I haven't had that issue yet with TY. This particular stack was great because the blank label extended to the center ring, unlike my last stack. I can fit a bit more on the face.

Cons: Pricey and hard to find (except online), but really I can't think of anything else.

Overall Review: This is the only brand I buy if I can help it. I've had pretty bad experiences with a few brands, including a few big names. I found out the hard way some of the big names we see on the top shelf in stores outsource their manufacturing to other, much cheaper companies, then just slap their label on them - something I don't believe TY does at all. Google "DVD-R" and "rebrand" (in those quotes), you might be surprised.

Most Critical Review

Very poorly constructed, but comforable

Logitech 980445-0403 3.5mm/ USB Connector Supra-aural Premium Notebook Headset
Logitech 980445-0403 3.5mm/ USB Connector Supra-aural Premium Notebook Headset

Pros: VERY comfortable. Most headsets just don't feel right, but this one isn't very heavy and has a nice shape to it. It's also adjustable. In-line mic and volume control. USB-adapter included. Decent sound quality.

Cons: This is the second worst headset I've ever bought in terms of build quality. The worst was a cheaper Logitech set. The USB adapter died out on me within two months of use. After that it was the microphone, which took about six months total. Now it's just a comfortable headset without a mic, which cost me far more than i should have paid. The mic is just a metal rod that only goes forward or back, it offers the least level of adjustment I've seen on a headset so far. You are pretty much eating the mic or not using it at all.

Overall Review: I'm very dissatisfied with this product due to how quickly it fell apart. I've bought house-brand headsets that lasted me years, and both Logitech sets I've purchased were not only shoddily made but cost more than most of their competitors. This is something that I just can't fathom, as I use a Logitech mouse and a Logitech keyboard and I'm extremely happy with both. Logitech must outsource their headsets. If they were as cheap as the house-brand units they replaced I wouldn't care, but they aren't. I'd give this product just 1 Egg if it weren't for the fact that it were actually a very lightweight and comfortable set. Logitech needs to build their headsets somewhere else, wherever they build their keyboard and mice hopefully.

Headsets are the only thing Logitech seems to mess up on every time

Logitech 980231-0403 Gold Plated Audio Connectors Connector Circumaural Precision PC Gaming Headset
Logitech 980231-0403 Gold Plated Audio Connectors Connector Circumaural Precision PC Gaming Headset

Pros: Somewhat cheap. Interesting looking.

Cons: This set is just utter rubbish, I've never had a more poorly constructed set of headphones in my entire life. I also had a more expensive Logitech headset that lasted me about three months. Both replaced generic house-brand headsets that didn't feel JUST as comfortable (almost though) but lasted ages and were far better built, and MUCH cheaper.

Overall Review: Don't buy Logitech headsets. I don't understand why they are so poor quality. They build quality is the worst I've seen, especially for the price range, and the audio quality of this particular set is just unacceptable.

Great pocket cam

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Silver 8.0 MP 3X Optical Zoom Digital Camera
Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Silver 8.0 MP 3X Optical Zoom Digital Camera

Pros: Fits VERY nicely into just about any pocket. Very light weight. Shots are usually pretty good. Zoom works well and isn't always an included feature on cameras this size and in this price range. The Macro feature works really well, again something uncommon on cameras this size. Camera starts pretty quick and doesn't take too long between shots, even with the flash. Videos usually come out great, if huge in file size. Sound quality in the videos is much better than I expected, and motion blur is pretty minimal in most situations.

Cons: The colors are sometimes a bit wonky. I did some side-by-side testing with other Canons we use at work and an older Kodak, and in comparison to those cameras (one of which was also an IS, just a different model) on the Auto mode the colors come out a bit off at times; too yellow usually. I can't figure out why but when ambient light is lower the shots are real hit-or-miss. Sometimes they are GREAT, other times it's nothing but blur and smudge - flash or no, it doesn't matter - and these can be two shots made within seconds of each other pointed at the same object. The battery charger is odd-shaped, so it doesn't fit well onto certain outlets or surge protectors, especially if they are already "busy". In almost all cases, quality difference between Fine and Super Fine is nil, and honestly the picture quality is much more in the range of 6 megapixel cameras, no matter how many MP this camera can output to.

Overall Review: I bought this primarily for the good Macro function (I need to take good pictures of rocks and minerals for work), but it's probably the best "quick snap" camera I've come across. It's definitely not a "family portrait" camera, but it's great for parties, vacations, and the like. I'm not sure why it's rated at 8 MP, quality comes out around 6 MP, at least based on the shots I've taken with this camera and other cameras. I'm no pro, but honestly, few buyers of a camera like this would be.

The little hub that could

i-rocks IR-4610 Blue USB 2.0 4-Ports Hub
i-rocks IR-4610 Blue USB 2.0 4-Ports Hub

Pros: Incredible price, small size, great power, no performance or connection issues on my computer. I've used it to do the following at the same time (I'm not kidding): power up my USB-powered MP3 player, read files from my USB-powered hard drive - which were being written onto a DVD also hooked up to this little hub (that DVD burner has external power however), while using a keyboard plugged in to it. So it's a little trooper. No power or connection drops at all with my external hard drive, after a number of hours of continuous file transfers this weekend.

Cons: The AC power cable could have been a little bit longer. Most of my accessories have longer power cords, so I had to move my surge protector to plug this guy in. Don't get me wrong, it's "plenty long", just not as long as everything else I'm using!

Overall Review: I'm running on a laptop which has only TWO USB ports - you read right, TWO USB ports. This thing is great, since I use an external mouse and keyboard. In the past I had to unplug one or the other to print or scan anything, to access my external hard drive or DVD drive. This pretty much did the trick. Those of you who have a laptop made by a certain Fruit company, get this hub!

Works great, no problems

BYTECC SVST-10 10 ft. SVGA w/3.5mm Stereo male to male Cable
BYTECC SVST-10 10 ft. SVGA w/3.5mm Stereo male to male Cable

Pros: Definitely long enough for most purposes. The 6' cable that tends to be more common in stores is usually to short for media-center purposes, at least if you are wiring up anything larger than a bedroom - 10' is a good length. I was worried about the length of the 3.5mm cable due to my DVI / VGA port and 3.5mm audio out being on opposite sides of my 15.4" laptop, but this cable has plenty of length on the 3.5mm, does the job just great. Video quality is fantastic, no artifacts from what I can tell. I run my laptop on my 37" LCD 720p without issue.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Incredible price, most stores in my city don't even carry this, especially in this length, and all of them charge triple or more what I paid on NewEgg.
