Pros: Blazing fast, regardless of what tech reviews indicate. Handles multitasking like a champ
Cons: Stock cooler is a pain to mount, otherwise nothing.
Overall Review: I've always been an Intel guy, but wanted to change it up. AMD has decent products at a very good price. Unfortunately, Core i5 and i7 line chips from Intel are pricey, and AMD has a price to performance ratio that can't be beat.
I configured this system with the Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 board, AMD 6870HD Discrete Graphics, and G-Skill Sniper 1866Mhz DDR3 RAM - runs blazing fast and nothing lags the system no matter what I throw at it. Using stock cooler, adequately cools the CPU - I've been running it at 3.6Ghz OC no issues.
A Word of advice though, the core scheduler for Bulldozer processors is different from traditional multi-core architectures, Microsoft has two Hotfixes out to ensure that the Bulldozer architecture is better utilized for the 8 Cores it has. Make sure you google the hotfixes and download them or else you may encounter some lag in Windows.
Pros: Ample room, solid build quality, great air flow. Plenty of expansion slots and USB 3.0 Ports in the front are a big plus.
Cons: None noted
Overall Review: The rear 120MM fan didn't have a molex adapter, only the to mounted one had one. The case is still relatively cooler temperature wise though. Didn't detract from value. I highly recommend this case.
Pros: Amazing build quality and the look and feel of the board really come together. Plenty of expansion, supports new AMD FX CPUs out of the box. Works well with DDR3 1866 (tweak timings manually)
Overall Review: This is my first 3rd party Mobo, did a bit of research and this board passes with shining colors. Only thing that is a bit confounding is the system fan2 connection is well out of reach of my 2nd 120mm fan in my Antec 302 case. Oh well.
Pros: Usually a trusted brand
Cons: This unit was DOA when I received it
Overall Review: I spent the weekend building a new rig, went to plug it all it and...nothing. The PSU was dead on arrival and nothing I tried indicated power was flowing to the unit (tried different power cables and outlets).
Oh well, waiting for a new one to arrive, giving Corsair a second shot at it.
