Pros: -Rubberized/texturized surfaces -Cherry MX-Blue switches + mechanical keys -heavy duty feeling plastics and superb build quality -Slim profile + detachable wrist rest -Headphone/Mic Pass-through + 2 port USB 2.0 hub -Macroable keys -N-Key Rollover (anti-ghosting) -Heavy braided cable + gold plated connectors -Bright LED's with 4 settings: Breathe, normal, bright, and "OW MY EYES!"
Cons: The software could use a little polishing. While it does work, it could use a little more user friendly interface. As I say the software does work so I will not remove an egg, but I just hope it gets a graphical overhaul and streamlining update in the future. I really wish that the Num-Lock, Caps-Lock, and Game mode indicator LEDs (located above the num pad to the right of the F-keys) were buttons of some kind. maybe profile mode keys for fast macro setup switching? I think that would have topped this keyboard off nicely. One possible "Con" would be the Braided cable. It is very thick and stiff because it also has the headphone/mic cables there as well. While is not a problem for me (in fact, its more of a benefit) this may not be a good keyboard if you plan to use it with a laptop, or similar mobile device.
Overall Review: I purchased this keyboard over its competition because of the overall similar feature set while maintaining a slim profile that would fit in my limited desk space. I also use a G-13 gamepad so I really only use the keyboard for typing. In closing I would like to add that this keyboard is HEAVY and well built with thick plastics. I was immediately impressed with the overall attention to detail and hardy feeling. Also, This keyboard is a pleasure to type on, the MX-Blue switches feel awesome, and the individually lit keys look great.
990FXA-UD3 Rev 4.0
Pros: -looks good -heavy duty heat sinks -nice features -good layout -decent BIOS
Cons: I received two of these boards that would not support the FX family of CPU's. Upon power on I would get no POST, no error codes, and no display signal. Gigabyte tech support is a joke. They insisted that my CPU was to blame, even after I had explained to them three times that I tested the both boards with two FX-8350's, a FX-8120, and a Athlon II 635 x4. And that all of these are running right now in different machines with no problems and have been recently put through the ringer of several different benchmarks. My CPU's are fine and have been tested more than any other CPU's I've ever owned and perform flawlessly. The two boards that I got simply just don't support them. Also, there is only 1 BIOS update and it doesn't add support for any CPU's so there is no way to get the board to work with the FX chips. After about 10 email exchanges with Gigabyte tech support they graciously offered for me to pay to ship my board to their lab and back where they would test it for 3-4 weeks and send me a refurbished board if they found it to be defective. No thanks. Its funny how Gigabyte seems completely unaware of this problem when a simple Google search will show people have been having this exact problem with every revision of this motherboard. In fact they have a forum page dedicated to a "fix" for this issue. Needless to say, this fix didn't work for me.
Overall Review: Newegg, as always, is amazing and lucky for me I am still withing the 30 day return period. I will hopefully be able to return this board for a full refund (possibly even the shipping for RMAing the board twice) and buy a different product. I've bought several Gigabyte products before and have never had a problem. They just really seem to have dropped the ball on this board, or there is a bad batch. I cannot recommend this board to anyone at the moment.
MSI RTX 3080 Ventus OC
Pros: +This card is fast! We are talking 80fps+ in 4k UHD HDR with max settings + Ray Tracing on every game I tested. It's stunningly fast. +Base model cards are just as relevant as high end cards here (see below) +Good thermals. Running 35C idle and 60C under extended period of full load. Thicc boy cooler is putting in the work here. +Comes with a bracket to help support the weight of the GPU. Probably not needed but is nice to have to help prevent sag +Extremely easy to upgrade from my last card. Literally pulled the old card, put the new one in and turned on the PC. Couldn't have been an easier swap/upgrade.
Cons: -Price. I know there is a silicon shortage right now and high demand for these cards, but the price is still galling. I won the shuffle and paid around $1,000 USD for this card, and MSRP is supposed to be about $800 USD. Overall WAY better than paying a scalper... It just sucks. -I was forced to buy another product in a combo with this one (an m.2 SSD) and lucky for me I have use for that other product, but it really shows disrespect from Newegg that they use their customer's desperation for these in-demand products move other non-related merchandise with forced combo deals. Really a scumbag move and has affected my view of the company. -Card can get loud at 100% speed on the fans. Don't get me wrong, I would rather a card get loud than excessively hot. So, for me, this isn't a big deal, but for some, it might be.
Overall Review: This is a great card and I am very happy with the purchase overall. One thing a lot of people are getting wrong is they are carrying their views of older generation graphics cards over to these new ones. To be clear, you NO LONGER need to buy a high-end or overclocked version of a card to get great performance. Base model cards are just as capable now. What matters most is that the card you buy has adequate cooling to allow for extended periods of boost speeds. This card for me runs at 1995 Mhz consistently at 60C and the advertised boost clock is 1740 Mhz. This is with stock settings apart from a custom fan curve. It delivers more than enough performance to meet my 4k gaming needs and is much cheaper than some of the higher-end cards on the market. compatibility and stability are great even with the 2x 8-pin power connectors. Just make sure the card isn't starved for cool air and it will work its magic. The support bracket was a little fiddly to install correctly but worth it and looks nice. Finally, the card is quite large, in both length and thickness, so make sure you have the space. WD Gold 10TB WD102KRYZ
Pros: -Fast (150-200Mbps sustained transfer speeds). -High capacity, 9.3TB of usable space on mine with 2 partitions. -High median time to failure (MTTF), vital for important or large data storage. -Quiet, my PC sits on the desk and my ear is literally two feet away. I can't hear it. -Western Digital brand confidence, odds are you are getting a good, tested, quality product -Bump protection, and other enterprise-grade features. -Temperatures are warm but not hot.
Cons: - Expensive, but you get what you pay for. - I wish the advertised storage space was the actual useable storage space. This is more an industry-wide issue, but 9.3TB/10TB adds up to 700GB of unusable space. That's significant, imo.
Overall Review: I bought this with the intention of storing games, videos, and music because my old 4TB WD Black hard drive had filled up. So far so good. WD has been my go-to company for hard drives for a few years now. They make a decent product, especially their higher-end drives.
WD 4TB 7200RPM HDD
Pros: -Quiet -Cool -Decent speeds -Good storage space
Cons: The usable space on this drive is a little low imo. After formatting and setting up the drive my 4TB drive has 3.63TB of useable space. I realize that this happens and expect a bit of space to not be usable so i didn't dock an egg... but nearly half a TB? Just seems a bit much.
Overall Review: decent little drive. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would buy this drive again in the future.
