EXPENSIVE - WORTH IT? - NOPE!

Bose® Companion® 3 multimedia speaker system
Bose® Companion® 3 multimedia speaker system

Pros: Small clear desktop satellites. Small clean sounding sub-woofer. Quality.

Cons: Satellite cables, and the Audio input cable from the PC to the sub-woofer are woefully too short from many desktop cable routing needs, and could have been made three feet longer for 50 cents. There is no POWER OFF/ON button on the control puck, just a MUTE (which does NOT turn the power off). Woofer boost is located on the back of the Sub as is the main power switch which makes both of them totally useless in my opinion. I just replaced as set of Logitech Z2300's which just up and died out of nowhere and Logitech is actually replacing with the Z 623 System for free and included a shipping label to send them back the dead control pod (which on their set up DOES have bass-boost and Power off/on user-accessable.

Overall Review: BOSE has become synonymous with price-fixed technology. For X-mas they gave all dealers a 10% discount to pass along to consumers. Even at 224.00 with free shipping. The Klipsch, or any Logitech's are better values and sound just as good. Save a bunch of money and look for something else here on NEWEGG.

CAVEAT EMPTOR

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Can be used as a Paperweight (or bait weight if you are Bluefishing on the East Coast and need to keep your bait on the bottom.) These Drives are absolutely DISMAL to say the least. This is a defective design problem Seagate knows about and has know about since three weeks after they hit the market in volume. It doesn't matter where they are made and people make stupic comments about it being made in "China". Years ago, people made snide comments about things being made in "Japan", now Japanese procucts dominate in quality. ther real issue here from a manufacturing point of view is " what level of quality is the Manufacturer willing to accept?" What "rate of failure"? Seagate apparently has a very low threshold of pride and quality. Drives are made in "clean room" factories. this technology is nort new and has been around for decades now. If Seagate actually cared, they would have pulled this line of drives a long time ago. Don't blame NEWEGG for this problem.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Cons: Like one of the other reviewers here, I am not a teenager wenting or extolling my limited knowledge on "one" drive purchase. I am a professional who has been buying hard drives for 15 years in volume and from changing manufacturers. Ignorant reviewers will post a comment like "made in China and cr_p", or I have a WD and it ran flawlessly for .......... but. Every manufacturer is going to have DOA's and products that fail, (some earlier than others)...and everyone is going to have a sad story to tell about lost photos data, term papers, thesis's and their treasured p_rn library going "poooof". This is not a commentary one drive. I have purchased about 40 of these Seagate 7200.11 in 1TB or 1.5TB capacities ( the ".11" is the version number), and about 60 percent of them have failed between day one to 3 months. A Deplorable performance history! I have paid the $ 19.00 advanced service warranty replacement so many times that Seagate knows me by my first name and my zip code...

Overall Review: ... I have refused to allow Seagate to replace these with "recertified drives" as the new ones don't work, and I am not trusting my data on someone elses defective product that Seagate has "re-certified". After pressing Warranty Supervisor KIM (800-732-4283) I was able to get "new" product as warranty replacements instead. You have to PUSH THEM, but you can try to salvage a bad situation with at least a new product. Then dump it on Eb_y, and buy Sams_ng Drives. New Egg has great prices on them, they have a three year warranty that you most likely will not need, and great specs. And to those that don't understand the GREEN CONCEPT and the clicking on some Samsung Drives ..The Samsung Green Series are Power friendly. They SPIN DOSN when not active, saving war and teaer on an idling drive, reduces heat and therefore reduces electrical consumption. When you access the drive it takes a second or two to SPIN UP. So they are perfect for DATA STORAGE and maybe not for your Operating System.

Corsair Obsidian Series 900D (CC-9011022-WW) Black Brushed Aluminum and Steel ATX Super Tower Computer Case ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: again...... NONE!

Cons: See previous post

Overall Review: Here is a BIG FIX for a BIG PROBLEM........W h e e l s ! We have used this fix before on the 800D and wanted to mention it here as well. - Lain Li makes a Billet Aluminum Wheel kit for their own Tower Cases. New Egg carried it previously but it now shows as "discontinued"..The LInk to the New Egg listing is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16841101030 It is still available if you Google it and are willing to simply pay 33.00 bucks for it. Solid Aluminum, with a wheel brake on the front set of wheels. They are not rotating casters but solid axle wheels on a straight axle...( lets not get too picky now ). I ordered the BLACK set Go to Home Depot and pick up 1 ft. of 2X 3/4 inch POPLAR ( or other "hard" wood ) and cut it into (2) 5 1/2 inch lengths. Pick up a pack of two part epoxy. - Glue the wood to the underside of the case with the epoxy. - Wait 24 hours. - Place the wheel frames on the wood and mark the holes. Oversize the holes to 3/16th, and grab a bag of metal or wood screws such as # 8 X 1/2, and pre-drill the holes in the Poplar so as not to bind the screws or split the wood.. Screw the 8 screws thru the aluminum frames into the wood...to mount the wheel assemblies. Take a few pictures, pat yourself on the back. and get someone to help you rotate the case. Wheel the sucker to wherever the heck you want it, and pack it with hard drives, 'cause NOW the 900D "ROLLS", and the wheels are invisible under the case. Send some pictures to Corsair (attention George M.) and tell him he should be ashamed of himself for the second time. These wheels cost 33.00 retail. Which means the manufacturer, and the on-line seller you are going to buy them from BOTH made a profit at 33.00 so I suspect they probably cost about 5-7 dollars to make. Do you think Corsair could have included them in a $ 350.00 Case?

Pros: These babys work flawlessly in a MFC8890DW.

Cons: None

Overall Review: In the 6 pack with free shipping they come out to about 21.00 apiece.....Shipped! It don't get better than that.

Great device....

ICY DOCK MB559U3S-1SB Aluminum / Plastic 3.5" Matt Black SATA I/II/III USB 3.0 & eSATA Professional Ultra Slim External Hard Drive Enclosure
ICY DOCK MB559U3S-1SB Aluminum / Plastic 3.5" Matt Black SATA I/II/III USB 3.0 & eSATA Professional Ultra Slim External Hard Drive Enclosure

Pros: This is a great quality device from the maker of the best quality and most innovative internal and external drive enclosure/backplanes/adapters in the industry. IOt si simple, and a no-brainer.

Cons: People like "N/A" should be barred at birth from being able to submit reviews or even opinions on things they apparently are not qualified to speak to. He is apparently not familiar with the issues of hard drives over 2.0 TB, and the legacy limitations of much of our "olde" technology. To make a comment about why manufacturers produce technology that is compatible with his STUFF, leads me to believe that he thinks we should still be using IBM Selectric Typewriters. Time marches on buddy, and get with it. Partition your drive into two Partitions of less then 2.0 TB's each and you will be good to go if you are using an antiquated BIOS or using anything less then Windows 7 - 64 BIT software.

Overall Review: N/A should have returned it to NEWEGG as not compatible and paid the few bucks for return shipping rather than post a dumb review on a good product. Lastly, IcyDock has excellent support , and he could have contacted them for questions and answers like in Kindergarten. No, I do not work for ICYDOCK. I am an ICYDOCK technology "user".

Why?

Mediasonic HFD1-SU3S2 2.5" & 3.5" Black SATA USB 3.0 & eSATA ProBox 4-Bay Dock Station
Mediasonic HFD1-SU3S2 2.5" & 3.5" Black SATA USB 3.0 & eSATA ProBox 4-Bay Dock Station

Pros: None

Cons: Why would anyone purchase this unit when you can buy the External enclosure from Mediasonic or Cineraid or Rosewill for less money and some of those are also tool-less and screw-less ? Enclosures are quieter, have a fan to actively pass air over the drives, and are more secure and easier to carry as a portable unit, than this thing.

Overall Review: I give this a Zero.
