WD BLACK SN750 NVMe M.2 2280 1TB Joke!8/13/2019 2:53:36 AM

Pros: It looks nice in the build, but just that doesn't cut it! That's it nothing else good to say. So I'll follow mothers advice and say nothing (more)

Cons: This absolutely must be THE slowest NVMe SSD on the market!! No, not in read/write, it does fine there,. but in boot time? Kill me! Gag me with a spoon! This, in my fifteen years of building computers, is the absolute worst I have ever had to endure. This is supposed to be PCIe not SATA speed. WD you should be exceptionally ashamed of yourselves with this model! Stick to RE4's. Unless you wise up you'll never make it in an SSD world Will I keep it? Yes. Long enough to buy a good drive like a Samsung 970 Pro. Then get rid of this Voilkswagon bus of an M.2 SSD. I sincerely dislike having to create this kind of review but WD you deserve it.

Overall Review: Everybody's talking about how fast this is? I've had faster rotating drives. This, is one sick puppy!

ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING Fit My Build8/4/2019 7:06:58 PM

Pros: It hasn't whimpered. (Month and a half after build) Burn in tests and all. 2066 socket. 128Gb RAM capable x2 M.2 slots Simplicity: No switches on board, except a Reset button Digital MB Code SupremeFX Sound *RGB Lighting

Cons: Other than going behind the machine to physically turn off the PSU in order to kill the on board RGB lighting, there should be an actual MB setting for shutting down MB RGB's, when the machine shuts down, if one chooses. Instead of using a destabilizing work around (disabling the "Wake On" sector) that makes the board unstable. It hesitates and flickers upon startup, but does kill the lighting upon shutdown.

Overall Review: I custom build a lot of machines and for the motherboards I've used, mostly ASUS and MSI, this motherboard ranks right up there with the best. This is a personal build for a relative, my active duty Marine Corp son. It's actually a belated (1 1/2 years) birthday gift. I waited that long for the MSI/NVIDIA RTX-2080 Ti GPU unit I wanted for this build, to get their act together and come up with a stable platform. Enough history. The B-52 of Illuminated Keyboards7/25/2019 3:42:11 PM

Pros: 5 phase illumination. Full sized keyboard w/number pad. FN function keys. On/Off switch. No slide bottom and Feet Unifying Receiver

Cons: The only con for this keyboard is you didn't buy one yet.

Overall Review: I have owned this keyboard since 2010 and have had to change the rechargeable batteries once, about three months ago. Other than that this keyboard has been in constant service and has never failed to provide excellent service.

G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) X299 Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16Q-32GTZR6/17/2019 11:34:41 PM

Pros: G.Skill modules are the best!

Cons: In my first review, written earlier today, I told of the very conflicting situation between Trident Z RGB Control, Trident Z Royal Lighting Control, and other RGB lighting programs i.e., ASUS's Aura, Corsair's iCue, and MSI's MysticLight3. So why am I back here re-reviewing? Because I mistakenly fed you bad information. Newegg don't let you edit reviews and I want to correct my error. I said you could run your G.Skill Trident Z RGB modules in Corsair's iCue but that is not correct. I meant you can run your G.Skill modules with ASUS Aura. NOT iCUE! If you follow my lead and use the three lighting programs that actually play well together: 1. ASUS's Aura ver. 1.05.22 (newer versions say "Aura has stopped working" when I try to open them.) Fix it ASUS 2. Corsair's iCUE ver. 3.16.56 3. If you have an MSI graphics card, Mystic Light 3 ver. 3.0.0.50 Why only 4 eggs this time? Dock one egg G.Skill for a lousy job in producing a software that knocks out the RGB lighting on our modules and conflicts with every other lighting control program out there.

Overall Review: Just came in here to edit my earlier first review

Manufacturer Response:
. Hi James Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We sincerely appreciate you taking time to provide feedback. We are constantly working with other manufacturers to improve compatibility and functionality. The Trident Z RGB memory modules are not a stand alone product as they are controlled by the motherboard, so changes to BIOS and OS can alter compatibility. Also with multiple RGB lighting software installed, it may also access the same control, so conflict can occur if using multiple versions at the same time. Hopefully with the collective efforts of each brand the software can improve with each update. For any other feedback or question, please feel free to contact us directly. Visit the G.Skill website and Download page for all the latest information. Thank you for choosing G.SKILL Quality and customer service are our top priorities. Motorola MB7420 16x4 686 Mbps DOCSIS 3.06/13/2016 4:18:46 PM

Pros: Motorola. 16 download/4 upload channels. Nice looking in gray and black ( a bit tall though). Truly impressed by the speed boost both up and down.

Cons: The power cord is at the top of the unit. Should be at the bottom to keep a low wiring profile.

Overall Review: Swapped out my Surfboard 6121 for the MB7420. I pay for 100 down/10 up. According to "Speed Test" my ping is 35ms, Download speed 171.11 Mbps, Upload speed 11.86 Mbps. Works for me! Great Product: Corsair Hydro Series H110i GT High Performance Water / Liquid CPU Cooler3/19/2016 6:16:45 AM

Pros: Nice cool temps. Creates a clutter free look in the CPU area of the board as opposed to air cooling. Keeps temps well below anything that air cooling can offer. Link software is okay and essential if your wanting to color configure your L.E.D. logo lighting on the pump head. Pump is quiet.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Been using Corsair cases, closed loop liquid coolers, and DVD drives for as long as I've been custom building computers for myself and clients and I personally cannot complain ... much. However, this cooler will not fit flush to the top of the Corsair 650D case. The reason? The bottom of the housing for the hot-swappable SATA3 dock (external) prevents the radiator tank from being flush with the top of the case. Therefore, it must be mounted at an angle of about 5% toward the front of the case. It doesn't take away from the aesthetics since the windowed side panel covers it, and it works every bit as good as it would if it were flush. My Rig: Corsair 650D Black case. It's G.Skill, Enough Said!12/17/2015 4:08:01 PM

Pros: It's G.Skill. It works! Nice medium speed modules G.Skill heatsink color variations allow for excellent build themes. Most G.Skill sets arrive with sequential serial numbers = match If a module goes sour send it back you'll get a new one ... anytime!

Cons: No cons. Excellently crafted memory modules. Economically priced.

Overall Review: Been building custom machines, my own and client based, with G.Skill modules exclusively for the last 10 years and have never had a bad module. That's not to say that the consumer can throw caution to the wind and buy just any memory stick to stick in the machine. You need to actually check to see that the particular module(s) are compatible with your motherboard and processor setup. SAMSUNG 840 EVO 2.5" 1TB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7TE1T0BW10/9/2015 7:33:23 PM

Pros: Nice, fast drive. Not the newest Samsung 1Tb SSD but it is still plenty fast. Samsung Magician optimization software (read/writes get better). No moving parts.

Cons: The current advertised price ... whew! ... $695.00 that's steep considering the newer model 1Tb (850 Evo) is only $344.06 currently, and the 850 PRO 1Tb SSD is only $469.99 currently. So, why the premium on this drive newegg?

Overall Review: Don't recall buying the drive here (Newegg) so maybe no green check for verified owner. I bought this long over a year ago, maybe two years ago to come into the SSD world from mechanical drives section. I really like this SSD and will stay with it until it falters. G.Skill Just Works ... period!10/8/2015 8:28:27 PM

Pros: Been repairing, upgrading, plus building custom machines for years now, and I have never had a client machine come back to me with complaints of faulty G.Skill memory modules. Fact of the matter IMO G.Skill can well be counted on to just work ... period! They look oh so cool if your running in black & blue, and I am. Nice heat spreaders. Your memory is a match set (sequentially serial numbered modules) which means they came off the "line" one right after the other ... a good thing. These particular modules, on my machine, run at advertised speed. Although I must admit I had to tell the motherboard twice to run at 3000, but that's not a memory problem.

Cons: Don't know if it's a con or not, but one of the reasons I always bought G.Skill over other brands was the lifetime warranty, but I notice no such warranty mentioned in the ad for these modules here at Newegg, on the packaging I hold, or on the modules themselves. What's the deal G.Skill?

Overall Review: I bought two of these sets of these, at separate times, and just put them through Memtest86+ ver 5.01 The "wall time" was 5 hours15 minutes for two full passes with zero errors and that works for me. Nice and Cool3/12/2015 1:20:19 AM

Pros: 140 X 280 Cooling surface. Nice quiet pump. Keeps CPU 10-15 degrees C cooler than my H100 (no i) did.

Cons: There is only one con to the Corsair Hydro Series. The fans. I learned years ago. Replace all stock fans (cases or radiators) with better bearing fans at install. Believe me it'll save you trouble down the line. Most of the time I go with Gelid's fans, but for this cooling set-up I went with BitFenix Spectre Pro 140mm fans- Blue LED for better bearings and better CFM.

Overall Review: I had to settle for a slight mounting angle in my Corsair 650D case with this radiator. The angle comes in because the radiator doesn't quite clear the 650D's top mounted hot plug and play drive(s) bay. So with allowing the 2-3 degree angle I was able to mount with the hoses on the left. I don't like the hoses on the right, it blocks the view of my memory modules and my beautiful highly functional motherboard. The best part of it all is my build is now running at idle in the mid 30c's and under load has not been over 58c ... eggcellent! ASUS PCE-AC685/3/2014 6:36:26 PM

Pros: Very easy set-up. Excellent reception. Per "Speed Test", my up and down speeds have increased by X2 just by installing this card. Very happy with this product.

Cons: I have zero cons for this product.

Overall Review: I bought this NIC because I will be going AC with the ASUS AC68U router to replace my ASUS RT-N66U next pay period. I figure it's a pretty safe bet that a 5th generation AC router will have most of the bugs worked out by now. I am looking forward to fast up and down speeds by going AC.

Vizio 40" Refurb Soundbar5/3/2014 6:21:57 PM

Pros: The sound bar, by itself, is a good improvement over the stock speakers that came with my Vizio 42" E3D420VX. LCD is a plus ... sometimes, see cons.

Cons: Unit came with hook-up cables, analog and RCA, but did not come with the optical cable (the easiest way to set this up). LCD has no menu item to turn off power light or the ever present MUTE flashing in your face if you decide to use head phones.

Overall Review: Would I buy it again? Yes I would. Would I recommend it to a friend (or anyone for that matter)? Yes, I would. The stock speakers that come with most, if not all, flat screens are terrible at best. This sound bar is a welcome addition. I docked this product one egg because although it's way better than stock speakers, it still has a long way to go to be eggcellent.

Specifications?4/27/2014 7:05:28 PM

Pros: A picture for the ad.

Cons: Really Mr. manufacturer, or distributor? Why would any able minded individual purchase your product with no specifications for the product? No potential customer could tell anything about the battery (6 cell 8, or the chemistry, i.e., li-ion or other) unless they did a little research, but, that was your job to do Mr. distributor, not the customer's!

Overall Review: I just happen to be in the market for an ASUS G73JH-A1 battery but because you have no specifications listed for all to clearly see, I've decided to buy my battery from a dealer with a little more appreciation for my, the consumer(s), intelligence.

AVG 20144/27/2014 4:11:44 AM

Pros: Ease of use. Keeps Trojans and viruses off your machine.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I've been using AVG in combination with Spybot Search and Destroy for over twenty-five years now. It all started when McAfee allowed a Trojan called "zlob" to take up residence in one of my computers. AVG and Spybot S&D got rid of the Trojan and all of its remnants. Both programs have free, fully operational downloads available at CNET. I chose the retail (paid) version of AVG because I wanted all of the features AVG Internet Security 2014 has to offer. AVG is good stuff for your machine and I'll keep using and recommending it until it is no longer a viable product. Want to get rid of your viruses and Trojans? Buy this, then go get "Spybot Search and destroy" and you'll have a security pair that cannot be beat.

Pros: Basically a good product. (See Cons) USB 3.0. Reasonable screen resolution. Runs quiet. Runs cool. Helpful software, for the most part.

Cons: Let me say, up front, that I put in for an RMA from Newegg and it was accepted, but due to time constraints I declined to send it in. I bought this notebook for my daughters birthday eight days before the event. Had I have sent it in on RMA the turn around was to be in excess of six days, which would mean along with shipping time, to late as the gift it was intended to be. It's fortunate that I am quite tech savvy because when the machine arrived, it arrived with a failing hard drive (30 sectors had been re-allocated) and a "caution flag" was raised per CrystalDiskInfo. So I ordered up a Segate Momentus XT 750Gb drive to replace the failing, slow (5400 rpm) drive. Because of the failing hard drive it would not clone to the Seagate. I tried with four different programs. In order to perform the clone I had to obtain the "Plus Pack" for Acronis which did get the job done. Thank you Acronis. IMO when a machine, or anything, is marked "Refurbished" it translates to all hardware has been checked out and is in good health. This was not the case! Because the product was sent out with a failing, apparently unchecked, hard drive I have docked this product one egg.

Overall Review: Were I not a hardware tech it would have been absolutely necessary to utilize the issued RMA. That would have really sucked! This is the first ASUS product, I assume they did the refurb since their warranty is on it, that I have bought, or worked on, that has ever been less than adequate. I have built dozens of desktops, all with ASUS motherboards, bought and upgraded no less than seven ASUS high end notebooks and all have been superb. I know refurbs have their drawbacks but bad hardware should not be one of them!

Works For Me!1/20/2013 4:27:26 AM

Pros: Great little RF optical mouse. Wireless. Long Battery life (so it says here). Plug (wait for drivers to install) and play. Comfortable. 3 year warranty.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I use this mouse for my desktop, along with a Logitech K800 wireless illuminated keyboard while sitting on the couch when I'm being lazy. I'm using a Vizio 42" 3D HDTV as my monitor so seeing things from across the room is no sweat. This little (it is small) mouse fills the bill just perfectly. Setting it up on a Widows 7 Ultimate system is a no brainer! Just remove the plastic battery shim, turn the mouse on, plug the USB Unifying receiver into an available USB port, wait for the drivers to download and install, and your in business.

I Like It!1/17/2013 3:10:18 PM

Pros: Where to start? This scale is decent! Very modern looking Gives Measurements on: Body Weight. Body Fat. Hydration (Water Weight). Muscle Weight. Bone Density. Body Mass Index. Calories. Automatically Zeros Out (Very Nice). Pounds or Kilos. Step On Technology. 10 User Profiles.

Cons: None really. But, if I have to choose one it would be that you must be barefoot for all functions to work and the glass is cold. At $20 (on sale) one surely couldn't squawk about the price!

Overall Review: After having bought and tested this scale, I would buy more for gifts for every member of my family (five more units) providing they bring the sale price back. I would not buy this unit at the MSRP simply because I'm cheap ... lol.

Complaints? NONE!!!1/3/2013 4:59:51 AM

Pros: Good size. USB 3.0/2.0 compatibility. Quiet. Runs cool.

Cons: No cons.

Overall Review: I'm using this external drive for my movies. The drive has been running literally non-stop for the last three weeks and it is now 3/4 full of movie files. It is quiet, hasn't even had a hiccup, and for a flat on the desktop external it runs amazingly cool. I like it! My Passport, this size and larger, will my way to go as far as externals are concerned. Good job WD! You sold me.

G.Skill Gets It Done!1/3/2013 4:32:33 AM

Pros: The first "pro" is it's G.Skill! Why? Because G.Skill just flat works!! Paid $134.99 for 32Gb ($67.50 per kit, times two) of dependable memory. Running at 2133Mhz=fast memory. Can simultaneously run my five virtual OS's and not break a sweat. Good "gaming grade" memory.

Cons: The serial numbers on both sets were not sequential, one set to the other. I only mentioned this because I have ordered many, many sets of G.Skill memory (I'm a builder) from Newegg and, most of the time the sets ARE sequential one set to the other when more than one set is ordered at the same time. It helps make a great match if the sets come off the line in sequence.

Overall Review: I bought these memory modules for my new "Ivy Bridge" build. I love this machine. It has all the whistles and bells and I've been waiting a long time for it! Merry late Christmas to me ... kids and grand kids came first. My build: Corsair Obsidian Series 650D Case GELID FN-FW12BPL-18 120mm Blue LED PWM Case Fans (X6) ASUS P8Z77-V PREMIUM with Thunderbolt Motherboard Intel Core i7-3770S Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) CORSAIR Hydro Series H100 Liquid CPU Cooler G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB x 2) Mdl F3-2133C9D-16GXH Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/240G 240GB SATA 3 SSD as Cache 2 WD RE WD3000FYYZ 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache HDD in RAID cnfg MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC GeForce PCI Express 3.0 Vid Card Ultra X4 1050w, 80 PLUS Silver, Fully Modular ATX Power Supply SONY Black 8MB Cache SATA Blu-ray Burner BWU-500S Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - OEM Closing statement: I love the above set up. It's all I wanted from Santa! I don't know why Newegg doesn't sell Ultra X4 Power Supplies, or Ultra Products for that matter. They have excellent PSU's, Card Readers w/USB 3.0 even, and external enclosures. I wish Newegg would re-think the matter, if they even thought about it in the first place. Ultra products are great and have excellent longevity. Have a Happy New Year everybody! The Egg Rules!!

Good Gloves1/3/2013 3:12:51 AM

Pros: Thinsulate. Black. Leather. Easy to adjust.

Cons: As the reviewer before me indicated, these gloves come small! I have medium large hands (ordered large) and although the gloves will go on my hands they are not what I would consider to be a good fit. If your ordering these it would probably be a good idea to order a pair one size larger than you deem your hands to be.

Overall Review: I didn't dock the product any eggs because they are, after all, pretty nice gloves. So much so that I've decided to another pair. This time, however, I am ordering a size X-Large for my large hands. I got the first pair for $8.99 ... bummer ... the second pair will cost me $10.99

Strong Router!12/23/2012 1:13:30 AM

Pros: Esthetically pleasing Dual Band 2.4G~2.4835GHz / 5.1~5.8GHz. 2 x USB 2.0 ports. Firewall: SPI intrusion detection,DoS protection. ASUSWRT Dashboard GUI for novice ease of use. IPv4, IPv6. Excellent wireless data rates. Great range. No dropped signals thus far.

Cons: Price. But, you get what you pay for. This unit does build some heat.

Overall Review: Though the unit does, as I've said, generate some heat it can be reduced by using the included stand. In my case I have it mounted upside down leaning against the top of my wall mounted air conditioner. This allows me to keep the WAN/LAN connections dust free (I live in a very dust region of the country) as they are pointed down instead of up. It also allows air to pass through behind the router. I then put a small cardboard shim piece at the top so air circulates completely around the router. By doing so the router has cooled down significantly. My signal strength, over the Linksys E-3000, that this router replaced, is much stronger! Should this router start to fail I will be updating this review.

For Limited Use12/9/2012 7:21:30 PM

Pros: Compact. Will take an AC or DC charge. Can be utilized to charge other 12 volt items (no car batteries).

Cons: The extra nozzles provided are useless. Cannot be used to blow dust out of a computer case (not enough pressure generated), which is precisely why I bought it!

Overall Review: This would be a good item to carry in your car while traveling to air up low, slow leaking, or repaired flat tires. Maybe air up that inter tube your going to lounge in at the lake, river, or surf. Need to charge up you cell phone? This will do that as well. Need to blow the dust out of your computer case? Forget it!

Finally An External That Rates!11/27/2012 11:13:13 PM

Pros: Finally, an external drive that seems to do all it was intended to do! USB 3.0/2.0 Quiet! Runs very cool. Software utilities with value. Password protect (if you chose). Even monitors other manufacturers drives in "WD Smartware". Updates drivers without having to go to the manufacturers site and hunt them down, just use the provided app. Comes NTFS formatted (MAC users need to reformat). Small. Fits easily into a pocket. Stackable if needed (don't know what the heat implications might be stacked). 2 year warranty.

Cons: At the moment none! Should this change I will update this review. I read squawks about the drive activity light, but turning the drive, back to you, resolves the issue quite well. I don't need to see a flickering, or steady, light to know whether the drive is functioning appropriately or not. Believe me, if things go south you'll know!

Overall Review: The purchase of this drive came about because my six month old Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750Gb internal storage disk crashed with about 450Gb's of movies on the disk ... Grrr! Now I have to go back and regain all that I have lost to a bad drive! That being said, I decided to try (and I'm glad I did) this current external drive, the WD My Passport 750GB Portable USB 3.0. While I RMA the failed, way before it's mean time (MTBF) Seagate. The Western Digital Portable is operating as expected, maybe even better. Although I will be getting a replacement drive from Seagate it will never see the inside of my machine. Instead, it will go into an external enclosure. I've decided to use the Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT 750GB for my internal storage drive, primarily because it has a 5 year warranty, as opposed to Seagate's 2 year warranty. Besides, the WD drive has better (though not much) reviews. My Machine: ASUS G73jh-A1 Intel Core i-7 940XM (1st Generation) Seagate Momentus XT 750Gb (ST750LX003) Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache (storage) G.Skill 204 pin DDR3 16GB (F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ X2 Intel Advanced 6200N (NIC) ATI Mobility Radeon HD5870 Graphics EAX Advanced HD 4.0 Windows 7 Ultimate OS

My Bad10/20/2012 4:48:34 PM

Pros: Runs cool. DOCSIS 3.0 Channel Bonding I originally gave this cable modem a bad rap because it was dropping signal, and cycling, every two or three hours. The modem was not at fault. It was the connection from my ISP at the cable box producing a weak signal. Once COX came out to straighten out their end of the bargain the modem has not missed a beat in the continual seven months it has been in use. I get more grief out of my router than this modem.

Cons: No cons! This is an excellent product.

Overall Review: If your wanting to avoid the rental fees (7-10 dollars per month) from your ISP for the rental of their modem, and you intend to utilize that ISP or even another, this modem will give you the in service longevity that will allow you to capitalize on the savings of the rental to you bank account.
