Nice Speakers

Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1 CH Home Theater Speaker System
Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1 CH Home Theater Speaker System

Pros: Easy to setup Sounds are reproduced very well. Center speaker sounds very crisp.

Cons: Sub-woofer is a little weak.

Overall Review: I have this system hooked up to an Onkyo TX-SR608 and for a medium sized room it really does the job.

Good for the Price

MAXI-MATIC DRC-50 White Cool-Touch 5 Cup Rice Cooker
MAXI-MATIC DRC-50 White Cool-Touch 5 Cup Rice Cooker

Pros: The rice cooker cooks the rice properly. I did not experience any undercooking or over cooking. It does the job in that aspect.

Cons: The build quality of the cooker is not very high, but I guess that is why it is so cheap. My unit had a bent top latch which would not allow the top to close properly. I had to use a screw driver to bend the metal latch in a way that enabled me to lock the top before cooking. It has since been locking properly.

Overall Review: I only gave this product 3 eggs due to the shoddy construction. It does however perform its primary function as a rice cooker properly. Make sure you understand that this is the 5 cup model and is a little on the small size. I realized this after I purchased it.

Reliable Switch

D-Link DGS-1008G Gigabit Desktop Switch - Retail
D-Link DGS-1008G Gigabit Desktop Switch - Retail

Pros: Good connectivity, Low profile Front link lights. Good Tech support

Cons: Price

Overall Review: I have had this switch for over 2 years and it has been rock solid. I recently had some connectivity issues for which I contacted D link support. Tech support agent Hazel (AR004636) walked me through a few steps that eventually resolved my problems. The switch is back working as it has for the last 2 years.

More reliable than Wifi

NETGEAR XAV1004-100NAS Powerline AV Adapter and Ethernet Switch Up to 200Mbps
NETGEAR XAV1004-100NAS Powerline AV Adapter and Ethernet Switch Up to 200Mbps

Pros: Compact design 4 ports Easy to setup Fast reliable connection QOS Available security encription

Cons: Actual speed never hits 200Mbps..... but you already knew that! See other thoughts below.

Overall Review: I purchased this to replace a wireless N bridge that although it worked was not reliable for streaming HD content from my HTPC. With my HTPC connected to one of the adapter ports, I can stream HD quality recordings to more than 3 TVs in my house simultaneously with no hiccups. This wasn't the case with my wireless bridge. I have this paired up with a Netgear XAV2001 and I average about 150Mbps at both ends.

Ok Cable

Monster - THX Standard Speed HDMI Cable ( 4 FEET)
Monster - THX Standard Speed HDMI Cable ( 4 FEET)

Pros: I got this on sale so I did not pay the full price. Works as advertised

Cons: Not too different from cheaper cables.

Overall Review: I connected this cable to my TV and the picture looked ok. Just to compare, I then connected the hdmi cable that came with my DIRECTV hd receiver to the TV and I could not really detect a difference between the 2 cables.

Nice features at an affordable price

ONKYO TX-SR608 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver
ONKYO TX-SR608 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver

Pros: This is my first Onkyo receiver and after reading about some issues such as that it runs hot I was a little concerned. However, the price and features of the 608 were in my sweet spot. Newegg shipping was fast as usual and it took me less than an hour to unpack and setup everything. When I first turned on the receiver sound was crisp especially from my speaker’s center channel. After going through the Audyssey setup I was hearing sound effects from movies I never heard before. As for heat, mine is in an enclosed cabinet and after having it on for a few hours, it is barely warm to the touch thanks to the large fan installed in the receiver. If you are on the fence about this receiver, do your research and I am sure the TX-SR 608 will emerge as a very strong contender for your dollars.

Cons: The first few days of using the receiver, it would make clicking sounds when switching inputs. However, I have had it now for about 3 weeks and I haven’t heard the sounds since.

Overall Review: I have my PS3 and Directv HD receiver hooked up via hdmi, my Wii is connected through component and my PC via RGB. I have a Hitachi rear projection TV with no hdmi input only DVI so the receiver is connected to the TV using an hdmi to DVI cable. Even with this connection, everything is upscaled nicely to 1080i which is my TV sets maximum resolution. I highly recommend this receiver.
