Fast and easy storage solution!
Pros: + Easy installation + Fast Speeds + Black PCB to match my dark color scheme
Cons: - None so far
Overall Review: Installation was a breeze. You just need to use the supplied screws (and mounting screws) provided with your motherboard/system to install this drive. Windows installer detected the blank drive and was able to install without problems. The black PCB and Corsair product label matched my system’s dark/black color scheme very well and blended in nicely. This drive replaced my SATA3 SSD as an operating system drive and the speed is noticeable especially when loading programs. Productivity programs such as Word, Excel and others loaded noticeably faster compared to the previous drive. Boot times were also extremely fast when compared to previous drive but only by a second or two. When benchmarking the drive with CRYSTALMARK it met max sequential read and write speeds that were documented on the product page. It wasn't listed in any provided documentation with this drive but when considering purchasing this drive please keep in mind that to take advantage of the speed of this drive make sure your motherboard/system can support the 4x that it can use. My ASUS STRIX Z270E board required me to go into bios turn change it from default 2X to 4X. This will disable specific SATA ports so please read your motherboard manual. I highly recommend this drive for any normal consumer use.
Good Productivity Laptop, Bad ASUS software.
Pros: + Lightweight and Thin. + Fast and responsive when booting windows and starting apps. + Decent screen quality for videos.
Cons: - ASUS software is terrible. - Disappointing audio quality. - ScreenPad 2.0 and trackpad randomly switching became annoying.
Overall Review: Would I recommend this laptop? This is a fantastic laptop for anyone looking for a light, thin and productivity friendly machine. If your only purpose is to use it for workflow and productivity it’s a decent laptop even with its shortcomings. The hardware configuration is solid and the battery while not being the best does what it can for it’s capacity. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with entertainment or gaming in mind. If you’re interested in more details read on. The SSD made Windows 10 boot up very quickly and launched applications extremely fast. I opened up the laptop to see if I could expand storage and found out you can install an additional M.2 SSD if the initial 512 GB wasn’t enough. The 4 core 8 thread CPU is strong enough to run my office/productivity software without a hiccup, unfortunately I didn’t have any heavy CPU usage software onhand to challenge it. I also didn’t have any applications that required more than 8 GB usage of ram but from opening the laptop before I could replace the current ram stick with a larger capacity stick. The webcam was terrible as every laptop camera is so don’t expect anything amazing. While watching videos (example: Youtube, Xfinity Stream) the screen did an OK job for a midrange priced laptop displaying decent colors only when brightness is turned up to maximum. The audio leaves much to be desired. The speakers didn’t really do so well as expected so I hoped that plugging in headphones would be a different experience with my Sennheiser HD598. The audio with headphones wasn't any better with the lack of mid to high range, disappointing. Gaming on this computer was a slideshow (5-15 frames per second) for the fast paced games I usually play. **I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS LAPTOP FOR ENTERTAINMENT OR GAMING PURPOSES** The myASUS software will check if your currently installed drivers need to be updated but won’t install any missing software or drivers. The drivers & bios tab is disappointing because you have to download the software manually to your hard drive through the myASUS app and then unzip and THEN install the drivers using administrator level command prompt or power shell with unique inputs. **THERE ARE NO SETUP EXECUTABLE FILES WHICH WILL CAUSE ANYONE WHO ISN'T KNOWLEDGEABLE TO HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING DRIVERS** I had a very poor experience with the ScreenPad 2.0 and Trackpad since both would switch out unexpectedly during use causing a lot of false inputs while moving the cursor. To switch between the two you need to tape the pad with three fingers. I could see it being very useful for anyone looking to switch between desktop applications very quickly but the fact that the ScreenPad 2.0 and Trackpad had trouble figuring out who would be in use was extremely frustrating. You can lock it to either of them in the ScreenPad 2.0 settings but that defeats the purpose of having a three finger tap gesture feature to switch between the two on the fly. The apps all launch applications fairly quickly but I haven’t found a use for the handwriting app and the number key app seems a little redundant when you have a number pad on the keyboard.
Fantastic for WiFi dead zones, speeds WILL vary.
Pros: ++Fantastic way to help get internet to my home's WiFi dead zones. ++Devolo phone APP and PC software is easy enough to use.
Cons: --Internet speeds will VARY A LOT depending on your home's wiring. --Did not pair automatically, had to manually pair.
Overall Review: The home is a single floor home with many thick walls and was built in 1977. I would recommend this product if you're looking to help get WIFI and ethernet into rooms and areas that need it. I was able to get WiFi from the outside of my house just fine as well with the devolo MAGIC 2 WIFI next adapter when it was at least 25 feet when I tested it. The speeds were disappointing in my experience with the wireless speeds being faster than ethernet AND only reaching less than 9% of the actual rated speeds. Consider how well your home is wired and the age of the home before buying this product, I troubleshooted as much as I could (including factory resetting) but couldn't get my speeds any higher. The phone APP and PC software do a sufficient job in helping you change settings and update firmware. Automatically pairing as listed on the instructions didn't work so I had to manually pair the devices for it to be detected. The software shows my devices are doing 180 to ~400 Mbps when communicating with each other (see pictures) but when I tested I received only UP TO 105 Mbps. I have a 1200 Mbps internet plan (confirmed by speed testing) and was only able to get 60 Mbps downloads while using the powerline LAN ports on the devolo MAGIC 2 WIFI next adapter. When it came to WIFI, I would get 80 to 105 Mbps downloads while in the same room. If I was in a different room or outside I would receive 40 Mbps downloads. The upload rate for any situation was about 40 Mbps for LAN and Wii which is the maximum upload rate for my internet plan. My download speeds are less than 9% of the device's rated speed which is extremely bad if download speeds are important to you. While these speeds are perfectly fine for watching 4K or 1080p content on your smart tv or computer/laptop, I had to wait longer for large files to download compared to connecting to my router directly via it's WIFI or LAN.
XMP works with MSI Z690 CARBON WIFI
Pros: - XMP works and is stable on MSI Z690 CARBON WIFI Bios ver. 118 with i9-12900K , tested with TestMem5 Extreme profile and passed. - MSI Mystic Light detects it for RGB purposes without the need for addition G.Skill RGB software.
Cons: - XMP not stable on ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z690 APEX Bios ver. 0806, manual settings also very unstable. - Expensive early adopter fee.
Overall Review: I would recommend this product very much so if you're looking for a quick memory overclock using XMP. I would highly suggest that before buying this or any DDR5 memory to check if the sticks are supported by the motherboard manufacturer. MSI Carbon happened to support these sticks 100% stable and passed TestMem5 on Extreme Anta profile. ASUS ROG APEX which with every bios and beta bios has failed to run the sticks at XMP and manual settings stable. Your experience will vary depending on the motherboard and their bios updates. I'm sure more motherboard manufacturers will fix it with more bios updates in the future to ensure more stability.
Bad Audio, Good Wireless Headset
Pros: + Very comfortable to wear on my especially big head. + Plenty of EQ settings on PC (if you download the Dolby Atmos APP) + Very good microphone. + Nice and sturdy material quality.
Cons: - Dolby Atmos app REQUIRED for EQ settings in Windows 10. - Not high-fidelity sound reproduction (poor audio quality). - Poor positional audio for competitive games. - Additional Windows 10 Wireless Adapter ($25) required for PC usage.
Overall Review: I wouldnt recommend this to someone who expects great audio quality. The extremely bass heavy and muffled audio makes everything sound disappointing. This headset is more geared towards people looking to trade audio quality for convenience of a comfortable wireless experience. If thats what youre looking for then maybe this headset is for you with the extremely comfortable headband, ear cups and many integrated controls. More details below. BATTERY: It took me about 2.5 hours to charge the headset for about 18 hours worth of usage. I like to crank my volume to the highest setting so my battery usage will be higher. MICROPHONE: Friends on Discord tell me its crystal clear. GAMES: The positional audio was extremely bad. It sucks for competitive games like Apex Legends, I couldnt tell where shots were coming from. The audio wasnt even bass heavy, it was muffled audio. MOVIES: Extremely disappointing. The overwhelming bass is extremely present in any movie and stream I watched and the higher frequency sounds were muffled. Even when testing with every EQ setting in Dolby Atmos app, the audio is lacking range you can find on speakers and wired headphones. MUSIC: It plays music decently under the music preset in the Dolby Atmos app. The extremely bass heavy and muffled audio still ruin the experience. The Dolby Atmos App has available custom EQ settings but I found it difficult to hone in the listening experience I wanted.
an OK air purifier (on HIGHEST/LOUDEST setting)
Pros: + Easy interface panel+ Easy to clean filter+ Quiet on everything besides HIGH mode+ Doesnt take much floor space
Cons: - AUTO mode only runs in low mode- HIGH is very loud.- Doesnt clean air much
Overall Review: I have two cats and one dog and placed this purifier in my bedroom that has a lot of lint floating around. I let this air purifier run on AUTO with UV LIGHT on to see if it would make any difference. The panel showed the numbers #12 to #16 which I guess is the purity of the air and while on AUTO the fans ran on a very low setting where I didnt even know if it was actually working. After a long while I checked the air around it with a high-powered flashlight and I didnt see it actually sucking any particulates (lint) in the air. Double checked the filter and it was still pretty much clean. Fed up with the results I set the fan speed on high and left it on. HIGH is very loud, comparable to a box fan on med-high settings. Used my flashlight once again and saw it actually sucking up some particulates. I left it on a little longer then double checked the air. It was a little less polluted with particulates but not to my liking especially after running it on HIGH mode. The filter after checking it did create a very small layer of lint. Would I recommend this? No. The AUTO mode doesnt do enough work, HIGH mode does okay work but makes the area around you especially uncomfortable with sound. The only real good thing about this to me is the fact that the filter is easy to clean. My box fan is more effective than this air purifier.
Quick processing and delivery
This seller creates a ton of electronic components and my SSD was one of them. The ordered processed and shipped very quickly and came a few days earlier than planned from USPS by Free Shipping. If you order the ADATA XPG SX8100 note that it's called ADATA SX8100NP in hardware settings.
