Plextor M3 Series 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PX-128M3
Plextor M3 Series 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PX-128M3

Pros: No, I don't work for Plextor - I'm just tired of reading negative reviews on this and all products from those claiming to have more tech knowledge than they do. THOSE of us who actually posses a high level of tech knowledge LOVE these drives. They DO perform as advertised - I know - I have benchmarked them more than one way. I have 4 of these and am buying 2 more soon. They DO NOT slow down as long as you know how to properly set one up and use a OS that supports SSD features. They ARE FAST - and a great performance value for the $$ They come with mounting brackets They have the best warranty out there. One reviewer gave one egg because it wasn't compatible with his system, but yet stated the drive worked fine. Hey pal - you are reviweing the product, don't dock eggs because you don't know how to integrate an SSD. Read other thoughts if other reviews have you concerned about performance.

Cons: None - I am comfortable disregarding all reviews of less than 5 eggs so far - as for the one previous that gave it four eggs, I can't tell why he didn't go 5. When reviews consistently start coming in about these totally failing (i.e. not booting, etc...) then I would pay attention. If there is a con, it would be for less experienced builders/upgraders - you have to spend a bit of time reading up on SSD's - specifcally making sure you have an OS that will support its most important features (such as trim/garbage collection), know whether or not your MB will support one and on SATA 3 before you complain it isn't fast enough/doesn't work at advertised speeds - also know how to at least check alignment (free software is out there). And if you feel you have a speed/perfomance issue, at least base that, and and subsequent negative reviews, upon your proper use of the right benchmarking software.

Overall Review: I have 4 of theses in 3 different machines - one is a raid set up, 2 others are not. They perform flawlessly, as advertised utilizing more than just the benchamrk software the manufacturer tests with. I also have crucial M4's, and they run great too. I chose Plextor most recently because of positive reviews, they come with mounting brackets, & they were quite a bit less $$ - a nice warranty is reassuring. As for performance: One past reviewer mentioned (about the plextor and M4 both) losing 1/2 their performance after a week - TOTALLY UNTRUE. If your SSD's are having that issue pal, which can happen with almost all SSD's, it is your setup/config, not the SSD. Read this if you are worried about the board

Pros: A hint for faster boot up in final comments and "cons" should you have issues I bought two of these for two identical builds. I build about one computer a month for family/friends and have been doing so for 20 years. I was concerned over the negative reviews some folks gave this, but bought it anyway. I also have installed many other gigabyte boards and all are still working to this day. I suspect with quite a few of the negative reviews, the problems are not with bad boards, but with builders lacking the skills needed to get the board to function or diagnose the real issue, i.e. bad ram, ram not seated properly, PSU issues, for starters. Well layed out board - plenty of room around the CPU socket for after market coolers. Mine function as they should and will buy more when the need arises. Super duper easy to safely overclock with even for novice users (with right CPU and/or RAM of course) Came with latest bios.

Cons: I tried to keep in service some older (from 2002-2003) SATA hard drives (Seagate and WD) that I had laying around for extra HDD storage on these builds, bios would always see them, but WIN 7 home premium 64 bit, not so much. It was 50/50. Not sure if this was a MB or OS issue, but had no problems with 2006 and newer HDD's I then used. The old and slow ones met Mr. Sledgehammer. On behalf of those of us who build computers regularly and pro builders: Having to read reviews from others complaining that the board doesn't have USB front headers, etc. and docking eggs for that skews the product ratings we rely on. Did you folks not know this stuff when you bought the board? How about rating the product based on its advertised functionality and possibly your interaction with the manufacturer rather than docking eggs because you thought the manufacturer should have included more options. If you wanted more options, go buy another board - Geez already.

Overall Review: Should you choose to install a gigabyte utlity from the insall disc that has to do with automatically checking for updates to other gigabyte utlities you installed from that disc, you may experience longer boot times - in my case, nearly 60 seconds using a SSD hard drive. Once istalled, you can choose to disable that utility from windows start up, but the delay remains. Once unistalled however, boot ups were fast agaiin. My core compenents: this MB, Plextor 128GB SSD (love it by the way), Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz, Processor with Intel HD Graphics 3000, G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL, OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular High Performance PSU, COOLER MASTER Vortex Plus RR-VTPS-28PK-R1 92mm Long life sleeve CPU Cooler, Win & home premium 64 bit. From power on to all apps, anti virus, etc. fully loaded - 15 seconds. Handles video/photo editing just fine. I'm using integrated graphics and things look great.

Pros: Cost - I have this running to a 27" HP LCD monitor, at 1920x1080, with the cord running all around and over other monitor cables, power supplies, electrical cords, speakers and you name it. No interference whatsoever.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I just RMA'd 3 Rosewill brand 25' DVI-D Dual link cables that could hardly hold more than 1024x768 without cutting out with the cables run no where near anything else that could cause interference when I tested them. I really wanted 25' footers running to 3 of my monitors, but settled for this one and 2 15 footers.

Again - check your downstream power levels folks

MOTOROLA SB6120 Cable Modem SURFboard eXtreme 160Mbps in DOCSIS mode and 195Mbps in EuroDOCSIS mode Ethernet Port DOCSIS 3.0
MOTOROLA SB6120 Cable Modem SURFboard eXtreme 160Mbps in DOCSIS mode and 195Mbps in EuroDOCSIS mode Ethernet Port DOCSIS 3.0

Pros: 1st - NO I don't work for Motorola BREWYOUROWNBEER: Did you happen to check your downstream power levels BEFORE your tried to install the new modem? It can also be done after as well. The SB6120 needs downstream power levels to be within the specs outlined by the manufacturer. With my old SB5100 and 5120, it was fine with +18db. That is however too much for the SB6120 and lead to the exact symptoms the last reviewer (brewyourownbeer) described. Yes, comcast could see the new SB6120, but couldn't provision it. They said my power levels were fine, but they weren't and wouldn't expect them to know. At my end, I had the endless loop of blinking lights indicating nothing would "lock" or "sync" up. I recalled someone mentioning power levels, thought that I better take the time to actually read the install and specs on the 6120 and found my downstream levels were too high. I added a splitter which dropped the level to +9db and got it provisioned fine and has been fin

Cons: These aren't always as plug and play as we would like. I had to hunt for a day or two until I found the issue and could have gotten it done sooner had I read the online manual and paid closer attention to the specs. I was hoping for a quick plug and play scenario. Again, if you get the endless lights looping and nothing staying on that should be whether or not your HSI is telling you they can see the modem at their end, check your downstream levels. Adjust as need be. Once within specs, call your internet service provider and ask them to provision it. MY HSI also told me along with lots of others that the unit was defective because they couldn't provision it. They were wrong with mine and probably lots of others. Why are they telling people this? Draw your own conclusions.

Overall Review: Before giving this thing a bad review because you can't get it up and running out of the box, please do your due dillifence at your end and make sure your incoming cable is fine along with your signal levels. They are easy to check. Follow the modem directions for this or google it. Again - hope this helps. I am hearing about a lot of these being returned as defective or being told they are defective from HSI providered when in fact it is the end user not installing properly.

They are not defective - READ 1st

MOTOROLA SB6120 Cable Modem SURFboard eXtreme 160Mbps in DOCSIS mode and 195Mbps in EuroDOCSIS mode Ethernet Port DOCSIS 3.0

Pros: Lots of people here and on the net are complaining about these being defective because they won't sync up, leaving HSI providers unable to provision them at their end. Some have returned these 3x over at big box places with the same sync issues with replacements. SIlverfox 1-24-11 review is spot on - you have to pay attention to power levels and adjust with splitters, etc. If you experience the endless loop of lights blinking, going solid as if it is almost there, and then starting all over again, and otherwise you can't get it to "sync" up, check your modem power levels - google how to if you don't know. Mine had the same loop issue - comcast told me it was defective, but I kept hunting, discovered I had +18db coming into the modem, noticed specs for it said that would be too high, added a splitter which reduced the power (got it down to +9) and then could get comcast to provision it.

Cons: None - fast and reliable so far. Pickier about downstream power levels than my old sb5100 so be sure to check and adjust yours. comcast told me (and maybe others) the unit was defective and that at their end, all power levels and everything else looked fine. Are they just trying to get business in the form of a service call????

Overall Review: Once I added a splitter and reduce the downstream power from +18 to +9, everything was fine. I still took comcast 2 attempts to provision it during my last call, but I could tell it should work before that as the endless failure to sync blinking light issue was gone.
