Amazing graphics card for the money
Pros: Running 975mhz on the core, 2300mhz on the memory (4600mhz effective), at 1.037 volts. This is essentially gtx570 speeds. Will run stable at 1050mhz with 1.1 volts on the core. Idles between 26 and 29 degrees celsius (depending on room temperature) and maxes out at 69 degrees in Unigine Heaven 2.5 and Crysis Warhead with fan speed at 50%.
Cons: Anything above 50% fan speed is noticeable with my case.
Overall Review: The card came stock at 1.075 volts. I've lowered it 1.037, upped the core speed by 25mhz, and it's 100% stable. The card is 100% stable at 1050mhz and 1.1 volts, but the fans need to ramp up to 60-65% to keep the temps in the mid-70's. The performance difference isn't that much between 975 and 1050 so I'm very happy sticking with 975 and opting for a quieter experience.
do not buy
Pros: absolutely none
Cons: DOA.
Overall Review: I took a chance, even after reading the few reviews this product has. Well I should have heeded the reviews. This HDD was DOA on arrival. Very frustrating, especially since newegg does not allow refunds for this product.
Very good card overall
Pros: The last few previous versions Twin Frozr cards had been getting louder and louder because of the fans MSI were choosing to use, but thankfully they stepped up and used larger fans with their new gaming series cards and rectifies the noise issues that weren't supposed to be present with what was supposed to be a quiet open-air cooling solution. I have my card overclocked and running at 1176mhz core / 7000mhz vram everyday 100% stable. Temps will ramp up to the mid 70's Celsius with fans hitting 62% out of the box when fully stressed (good but not great considering the pedigree). Like I said above, noise is not an issue - fans are BARELY audible at 60% and I value quiet operation over brute-force perfomance.
Cons: I was a little disappointed by the temps I was getting compared to others who purchased this same card. Curiosity got the best of me and I pulled the heatsink off to discover enough TIM application to cover multiple (more than 2) GK110 chips. It was way, way over applied. I cleaned it up the best I could, reapplied some good TIM, and now temps are stabilizing at 69 C with the same fan profile and overclock.
Overall Review: It's a great chip, great card, and great cooler, but MSI needs to do a better job of TIM application. Also, this card is VERY large - the biggest 2 slot card I have ever held in hand. If you have a tight case, be wary. I got the card with the masterpass 10% discount plus a $20 MIR, plus it was on sale for $499 so I think I got a an outstanding deal for this kind of performance in 2013.
Great mini-ITX board
Pros: Rock solid board. Post and boot into Windows 7 is lightning fast (fastest I have ever seen). The bios screen is easy to navigate and has tons of tweaking options. My favorite thing about this board, though, is the CPU socket placement. You can use 120mm tower coolers with this board (which I prefer over closed water coolers due to pump noise).
Cons: Only two fan headers (not a deal breaker, IMO) and the auxiliary power connector is very close to the CPU socket, making it hard to work around if you are using a large CPU heatsink.
Overall Review: This was my first Asrock motherboard and I am pleasantly surprised. Currently running my 4770k undervolted and with a small overclock of 4.0ghz.
Compatibility issues
Pros: Worked flawlessly with ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z motherboards. I also prefer typical / low profile and these sticks fit the bill
Cons: Did not work with Asrock Z87E-ITX board. Very frustrating.
Overall Review: Incompatibilities happen from time to time, but it's frustrating when supposed "high end" ram sticks are stil plagued with incompatibilities between different motherboards.
Good budget card
Pros: Very quiet (inaudible inside mITX case) up to 50% fan speed. 60% fan speed is still acceptably low noise, but that high of a fan speed should never be needed. My particular card hits a max stable overclock of 1202mhz on the core. At 50% fan speed, card maxes out at 67 degrees in Unigine Valley benchmark and runs in the low 60's during typical games.
Cons: This is a gimped gtx 650 ti boost. The memory on this model is only running at 5.0ghz out of the box, whereas reference gtx 650 ti boost vram runs at 6.0ghz. I was able to overclock the memory to 6.2ghz, but your overclocking experience may vary.
Overall Review: A good budget card if the price is right. Overclocks decently, low power, and very low noise.
