my second review

hec Zephyr MX 750 750W Peak Output ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
hec Zephyr MX 750 750W Peak Output ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I've already reviewed this product once but I just want to come back and share some more information. From what i can tell, rails one and two are dedicated just to the PCI cords on the supply. and to make things even easier on us, they nicely labeled which rail the connectors are attached to. this is to keep from overloading one rail, but i have a feeling some of you complaining about your PC shutting down don't realize this (because i didn't at first lol). i made my build with one radeon 3870 originally. worked fine. the card used one PCI 6 pin wire. recently i just added a 3870X2 card (yes, you can crossfire a X2 with a single GPU card). this 3870X2 required both a 6 and an 8 pin connector, so i grabbed the wires at random. come game time my PC shut down during crysis. upon inspection i realized that i was using all wires on rail 2. duh! so, i switched out the 8 pin for the one on rail 1. ...continue down...

Cons: this made it so that i had the two 6 pin connectors running off rail 2 and the 8 pin running off of rail one. i rebooted my computer and everything was fine, so i decided to put it under load and booted crysis back up. well, i just got done with a 2 hour session of crysis and my PC never flinched. now, i'm not saying this is everyone's problem, because DoAs happen, but this is definitively something that should be kept in mind when building your PC with this supply.

Overall Review: sometimes you think you know everything about what you're doing and you miss something like this.

Most Critical Review

it's SDHC

FileMate 4GB MicroSD Flash Card w/ Universal Adapter Kit (miniSD, SD, MS Pro Duo and USB) Model 33120476
FileMate 4GB MicroSD Flash Card w/ Universal Adapter Kit (miniSD, SD, MS Pro Duo and USB) Model 33120476

Pros: despite what newegg says and what it says on the cards in the picture, this is in fact SDHC, not just SD. so, if you have a phone such as mine that is not compatible with SDHC don't order this. I'm pretty ticked about this, but at least i can use it as a very very small and portable 4GB flash drive (and i have been).

Cons: SDHC!

I am very impressed

ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: This board is feature rich. I have paid more money for boards with less features. CMOS reset button on the I/O plate is a nice feature. USB 3.0 support. Onboard power and reset buttons make tests easier. RAID controller handles RAID5 (a feature usually only found on $120+ boards). The list goes on. And yet this board is well under $100. I'm so impressed.

Cons: This board is designed by Asus and as such, the pins for all your front port stuff (buttons, LEDs, etc) aren't labeled on the board. I've been using Gigabyte boards for a while and they label and color-code all the pins. This board doesn't. There is a reason, that's how ASUS designs their board. However, Asus always includes a pin extension that is labeled and color-coded so that you can put your front port wires on it, and then plug it into the board. Well, ASRock doesn't include that plug, so you have to figure out all the pins through the manual. I'm really nit picking here, but they should have at least either produced those plugs or labeled and colored the pin area on the board.

Overall Review: Oh, and if my Con was confusing you, ASRock is an off-shoot of Asus. Which is why I trusted the quality of the board despite never having heard the name before.

get your money's worth

G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) FM-25S2S-120GBP2
G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) FM-25S2S-120GBP2

Pros: If you're going to spend the money on an SSD you might as well get your money's worth out of your purchase. Of course this unit doesn't Quite meet the speeds of the Vertex 2 series, but it's close. I haven't had the chance to run any real benchmarks myself (gets a 7 on windows index if that means anything to you), but going off of reputable reviews the benchmarks are close enough to where any real world applications wont have any real noticeable speed difference between the two drive brands. And you get a lot more storage from the Phoenix Pro series. The 80GB vertex 2s (by OCZ) are as expensive as this 120GB unit. This comes with a converter for PC towers too, just fyi.

Cons: Price. But hey, this is top shelf.

Overall Review: I use GSkill Ram for my PCs and builds at work. Always give good results.

Died in 2 Weeks

RAZER Lachesis Banshee Blue 9 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
RAZER Lachesis Banshee Blue 9 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Gaming Mouse

Pros: I know bad units happen, and normally I don't give 1 egg for it, but I already gave a 5 egg review so i have to cancel it out

Cons: Unit died in 2 weeks. RMAing right now, going to switch to a different, more Logical and techy, brand.

Overall Review: Congrats Razor, you lost a customer forever. Mouse suddenly dying mid-game is way worse than a DoA.

Nice set

Skullcandy White ASYM Canal In Ear Bud, White
Skullcandy White ASYM Canal In Ear Bud, White

Pros: The noise cancellation on this set is nice. The big backing covers your ear canal really well. The cord raps around your ear so that they can't come out on accident if you're jogging or something. The bass is crazy good on these too. The angle that they go in your ear at is perfectly comfortable. This set has nice extras too, including 4 different ear plug sizes and a nifty case to store the buds in. Honestly, these buds are a lot better than I expected.

Cons: None. Except maybe that sometimes you can hear the cord rubbing against your shirt if you're jogging, but that's just physics, cant really help that.

Overall Review: Came with a stencil of their logo, and the directions show spray painting the logo on a snowboard, the back of a bald guy's head, and a cat. That made me smirk.
