I was a big Crucial Supporter

CORSAIR ValueSelect 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9

Pros: I own a Sony Vaio z series, a max out iMac 27" and a 15" MBP. I'm all about gadgets and having the "BEST". I upgraded my vaio and iMac with Crucial ddr3 memory and was very happy. I just bought my Macbook Pro about 3 weeks ago and upgraded it with Corsair memory because it was over 30% less expensive then the same Crucial. I had immediate buyers remorse because I felt like I sold out to my frivolous values. I can't be happy with this memory. The laptop is running lightning quick, install was easy and the MBP recognized the memory instantly. If you're like me don't be afraid but this memory. You won't be disappointed. I guess you don't always get what you pay for. BTW, the newegg shipping was super quick.

Cons: None. Couldn't be happier.

Update: You Won't Get What You Pay For on a Mac

Plextor M3 Series 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PX-512M3
Plextor M3 Series 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PX-512M3

Pros: Maybe you'll get the advertised speeds if you don't own a Mac????

Cons: I posted my last review when I was somewhat happy but the speeds were lacking. I called Plextor to see if something was wrong with the drive. After I told them that I have a Mac they informed me that I would not get the advertised speeds. They sent me the Mac benchmark report where the speeds are considerably less then advertised. Plextor does not publish this information anywhere and refuses to take their product back after they false advertise it. You would think they would do the right thing and put a * next to the speeds and then post the mac benchmarks. I should have stuck with my Crucial M4. I paid a boat load of money to slow down my system and apparently Plextor believes false advertising is ok. Do yourself a favor and buy a drive from a manufacturer that will advertise the correct speed tests.

Overall Review: DO YOURSELF A FAVOR BUY A MAC CERTIFIED DRIVE WE'RE YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. DON'T MAKE A HUGE MISTAKE BY BUYING THIS DRIVE!! NEWEGG IS GREAT AND THEY HAVE MANY OTHER DRIVES TO CHOOSE FROM!!

Pros: Can't think of any. It's already gone and out of my mac. WAY overpriced.

Cons: Won't get the advertised speeds on a Mac.

Overall Review: To the 4 tools that commented on my review below, YOU should know what YOU are talking about. My MBP is SATA3. If you read my original review YOU would understand that it is SATA3. Everyone has some of those tool friends who think they know everything. There are 4 of them right here. If these tools knew anything they would know that you would never get 425 mb/s reads and 375mb/s writes from a SATA2. So who doesn't know what??? Plextor should publish what the true maximum benchmark speeds are for macs! They have this information but will only release it upon request.

Overall it's a great drive

Plextor M3 Series 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PX-512M3

Pros: I bought this drive because I wanted something FAST but was worried about all of the issues I read on most of the other drives. I was willing to sacrifice a little bit of speed for proven stability. So far this drive has been flawless as far as stability goes. I replaced a 256gb Crucial M4 that was also great but I wanted a little more speed. After much research, I also wanted synchronous MLC NAND flash modules opposed to cheaper asynchronos modules so this drive fit the bill perfectly. The only issue I'm disappointed in is the testing I've done with Blackmagic disk speed test. This drive is no where near what is advertised. I've tested it everyday for a week and the writes are always around 375 MB/s and the reads are between 425-450 MB/s max. The Crucial M4 that I had always broke 500 MB/s on the reads. I running a brand new MBP 17 with 16gb RAM and a 2.2 I7 Quad Core so I don't think it's the computer. Overall I am very happy with the drive.

Cons: The read/write speeds are not what is advertised according to blackmagic disk speed test.

Overall Review: A 5 year warranty is awesome and go for synchronous MLC NAND flash modules.
