Pros: This KVM was quick to setup between a windows 7 machine and with a Windows 10 Preview machine. The Win10 machine almost immediately recognized it.
Double-tapping my scroll lock toggles the switch! Neat!
Cons: My machines may be to blame, but I find myself waiting at least 8 to 10 seconds for every switch.
Overall Review: The wires were a little short for my setup, fortunately I had an extension cable.
I really wish they had an HDMI model.
I was able to snag this KVM for ~18.00
Pros: - 32GB on the cheap
- All dimms have passed memtest86 and are still running well a month later
Cons: See overall review, I wasn't bothered but they are noteworthy
Overall Review: Other thoughts:
- The dimms have stickers instead of heat spreaders
- My ASUS Pro Gaming Motherboard (Firmware 3805) does not like running the dimms past 2933MHz. Pushing these to 3200 will cause my system to not POST.
Pros: Metal enclosure and small in size.
Pros: Cheaper than upgrading to premium for $50 after spending ~40 on an original copy. (I managed to get this copy of premium for $30).
Overall Review: Again, I managed to get this for $30 sometime in March or Feb.
Pros: Gameplay, Carnage, Enjoyable story, Free Roaming
Cons: GTA Online had a sloppy start
Pros: Works fine so far. Worked on quite a few drives (with the obvious exception of dead ones). Tried on Maxtor 3.5", WD Scorpio Blue SATA, Some Hitachi SATA drive for an Apple machine, some 3.5" Sony PlayStation 2 hdd.
Has a red LED that blinks during I/O activity.
Has a convenient power switch with green LED
Cons: The power cord to power supply does not fit too nicely. Be careful not to bump it during disk activity.
Overall Review: Some drives might not show up under My Computer or This Computer and may require the Disk Management tool for their discovery (Windows Key + R and type "compmgmt.msc").
Pros: Guns and gadgets. Interesting NPC death animations. Cool easter eggs and cameos of older ID Software titles.
Cons: The game largely let me down. Between the RPG like quests, car racing/car combat it was kind of irritating.
Pros: Compatible with my Gateway P-6831FX and ASUS 1005HAB netbook. Zero image distortion, sound quality is also great.
Overall Review: None.
Pros: Evaporated into a white cloud ...once he finally made contact.
The ball had a decent weight and looked like a golf ball.
Overall Review: It was practically dark out by the time we were given a chance to play out our trick and there were some plastic remains of the ball's shell - I hope they're biodegradable.
I was hoping for a loud bang or pop, but couldn't hear anything distinct of the club's contact. The results were still satisfying.
Pros: Stability: has been comparable to Windows 7 if not better.
Speed: Modest speed. Faster response time from Notification Area Icons.
Security: built in antivirus
Cons: The introduction of Metro brings a learning curve and is definitely intended for the tablet environment. It has no place for the desktop computer. Especially when considering the lack of a start button.
Metro is my only frustration with Windows 8.
Overall Review: The new minimalist look to the desktop and windows has grown on me.
There are obvious ways around the new start environment, some are fortunately free. My current favorite alternative is Classic Start Menu. With it I've disabled the "Active Corners" and skipped the Metro Screen while replacing the missing start menu.
I highly recommend going to a store to demo this OS.
This copy of Windows 8 Pro was installed on a Gateway P-6831FX machine. Specs: 4GB RAM, Intel Core Dual 1.83GHz, GeForce 8800M GTS, 7200rpm hdd.
Pros: Fits perfectly on the memory.
Cons: None - I think? I wish I recorded some temperatures before applying the heat-sinks.
Overall Review: Be careful when removing the strip covering the thermal paste. Some of the paste didn't stick to the copper because I removed the strip too quickly.
Also, it would make sense to remove any stickers covering the surface you'd apply the heat sink to.
Pros: The game play is amazing and made this purchase worthwhile. I'm also very satisfied with the online play.
Cons: The story wasn't at all that jaw dropping. I was left with a very neutral feeling after finishing the campaign.
Aiming can take a while to get used to.
Pros: Its an awesome kit. I unfortunately don't assemble computers as much as I used to. But this kit has come in handy for maintenance.
I'm digging the syringe/screw claw thing: Pressing on the end of this um pen, extends claws which are great for grabbing screws, especially one's that may fall into some deep parts of your computer or console if they slip from your fingers.
Cons: None so far. I haven't given the kit any heavy use, so it may be too early to say. Nothing has broke during my ownership of the kit.
Pros: Upgraded both my netbook and 17" laptop with these, maxing out both to 2gb and 4gb. Both machines are running fluently with zero problems since their installation 2 -3 months ago (as of today, 11/22/10).
Cons: None so far.
Pros: I've been using this external to back up and boot Wii isos. So far the device boots perfectly fine, and is very quiet.
The drive is snappy and cheap, I couldn't ask for more.
