Perfect liquid CPU cooler if you don't want RGB & have a fan controller

Corsair Hydro Series H100x Extreme Performance Liquid / Water 240mm CPU Cooler (CW-9060040-WW) LGA 1700 Compatible
Corsair Hydro Series H100x Extreme Performance Liquid / Water 240mm CPU Cooler (CW-9060040-WW) LGA 1700 Compatible

Pros: TL;DR - Performance, price, installation, reliability, pump noise. PERFORMANCE: Performs just like the more expensive versions of the H100 series coolers - in other words, it's excellent. It's the best cooling performance you can get without going custom loop. I've been using the H100 for years and never had any problems. PRICE: Save a decent amount of money to ditch the RGB and Corsair link add-ons. If you don't want those features (and I personally never use them), you don't have to pay for them anymore. INSTALLATION: Dead simple. Even the Verge could figure it out. Table, tweezers, and swiss army knife not included. RELIABILITY: I've been using Corsair H100 series products for 7 years now. I have an original H100 and H110 still going strong, as well as an H110i and now this H100x. I've never had any problems. These are well made products. PUMP NOISE: I don't hear it. Which is great!

Cons: Only one: Default fan noise is too loud. The default setup with the fans is set to get you the best temps possible but it comes at the expense of way too much noise. Put the fans on a reduced speed outside of max OC benchmarking; the cooler will still perform well and will be much quieter.

Overall Review: If you want the performance of the H100 but don't want to pay for the add-ons of the more expensive models, this is an ideal cooler. Very highly recommended! Just make sure you have a fan controller or low noise adapter or are prepared to deal with relatively noisy fans.

Fantastic case IF you don't need to mess with hard drive cages

Fractal Design Node 304 Black Aluminum/Steel Mini-ITX Small Form Factor Computer Case
Fractal Design Node 304 Black Aluminum/Steel Mini-ITX Small Form Factor Computer Case

Pros: -Outside of one issue (see cons), the build quality is absolutely superb and the case looks gorgeous. -Can fit a LOT of hardware into the case including decent CPU coolers and graphics cards -Dust filtering on front intake fans and over the PSU intake -Screw positions to install PSU either way (up/down) -Removable (theoretically - see below) hard drive cages with rubber mounts to dampen noise -Quality fans included, with fan controller!

Cons: One show-stopping con for this case: the tiny screws used to mount the hard drive cages in place are HORRIBLE. Not the thumb screws - those are fine - the tiny screws (one per HDD bay) near the front of the case. They are small and made of some cheap-o super soft metal. Two of mine happened to arrive fastened in tight, and because the metal is so soft, it bent/warped to the point where they CANNOT be removed at all. I tried about 10 different screwdriver heads and the metal is just too soft to unscrew them. So, 2 of my 3 hard drive cages are permanent fixtures and cannot be removed unless I go get my dremmel and cut them out for good. I am docking two eggs for this, because this is a potentially show-stopping issue for anyone who may want to remove the cages. I only have one HDD in my build so it's not a total deal-breaker for me.

Overall Review: I'm REALLY disappointed in the lapse in quality on those hard drive cage screws. It's surprising, because the rest of the build quality is SO good that to have one thing that bad is a mystery. It wouldn't have been hard for them to use decent screws there, but they didn't. I'm not going to bother with paying shipping on an RMA since I'm only using 1 HDD... hope I don't regret that in a couple years. Built this to be a quiet office/work PC: AMD A8-5600k CPU 8GB DDR3-1333 RAM ASRock FM2A85X-ITX mobo Noctua NH-L12 CPU cooler WD RE4 500 GB HDD Seasonic X-400 Platinum Fanless PSU

Killed my RAM and died

MSI MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI DDR4 LGA 1700 Intel Z790 SATA 6Gb/s DDR4 ATX Motherboard

Pros: it didn't burn my house down, I guess

Cons: This board decided to completely die on me two days after the end of the return period. RIP. I upgraded from a Z390 / 9900K setup to run this board with a 13700k. Used the same Patriot Viper DDR4-4400 RAM kit for both. I ran the 13700k at stock settings with the same memory setup and timings I had used on the Z390 board for 3 years. No problems at first, but then occasionally would start getting random black screen crashes while gaming. It took several weeks of troubleshooting but eventually I identified the problem as some kind of memory issue, because the board would run OK at JEDEC DDR4-2133 speeds but not with any kind of overclocks or XMP applied. Even though it could pass memtest86 runs at my DDR4-4000 settings, it would randomly trigger black screen crashes at both idle (desktop) and load (gaming). Today, it won't even run at JEDEC 2133 with everything in the PC at stock. Constant black screen crashes. Can't even stay idle in Windows more than 2 minutes without the whole PC dying. All MSI offers via RMA is a repair, but honestly, I just wish I could get my money back.

Overall Review: My experience was with all BIOS, drivers, and firmware updated to the most recent available at the time of this review on a clean install of Windows 11. Stay away. Absolutely awful experience.

No need for the more expensive models

GIGABYTE WINDFORCE GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N4090WF3-24GD
GIGABYTE WINDFORCE GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N4090WF3-24GD

Pros: Insanely fast GPU. Overclocks are on-par with other 4090s (2900 MHz core, +1500 memory offset). GPU support bracket included to prevent any GPU sag No audible coil whine Card stays very cool and quiet. Stays below 65C and it's quieter than my 3090 Founders Edition card was. Dual BIOS! Nice, clean visual design.

Cons: I don't like that this card only has two PCI-e slots to support it when it's a 3.5 slot card. It should have used 3 PCI-e slots for support. It's a 4090 and carries the 4090's sky high price tag. But hey, Jensen has to pay for those jackets somehow.

Overall Review: I don't see any point spending $100-400 additional for the custom models; you don't really miss out on anything by just getting this and saving the extra money. Gigabyte really knocked it out of the park with this as their baseline model. Also, note that this card is HUGE. Make sure your case can fit it. This card *barely* fits in my Lian Li O11D-XL.

Fantastic midrange PSU that punches above its weight

CORSAIR RM Series RM850 CP-9020196-NA 850 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply
CORSAIR RM Series RM850 CP-9020196-NA 850 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply

Pros: - Fully modular - More than enough power for any normal system. Even most two-GPU systems will be OK on 850W. - I don't have the tech personally to check things like voltage regulation and ripple, but professional reviews give good marks on this - Gold certified means you're not going to be wasting tons of $$$ on unused power - Very quiet. Barely audible among other normal system components. - 10 Year warranty is absolutely amazing. You can always judge the quality of components used in a PSU by the length of the warranty.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I replaced my 8 year old (and now out of warranty) Corsair AX1200 with this guy. Worked like a charm, and is a perfect replacement now that I no longer run 2 or 3 way GPU setups. I think 850W is a sweet spot for high end rigs that are doing single CPU/GPU, and highly recommend this to anyone building a gaming PC with an OC'd CPU and a 250W+ GPU. My rig is a 5930k @ 4.5 GHz and an overclocked 2080 Ti.

Great LED Fan

Corsair AF Series AF140 LED (2018) CO-9050088-WW 140mm White LED Case Fan, 2-Pack
Corsair AF Series AF140 LED (2018) CO-9050088-WW 140mm White LED Case Fan, 2-Pack

Pros: Good airflow to noise ratio for a 140mm fan Aesthetics are nice with the LED lighting Decent value for money

Cons: Nothing really

Overall Review: Added two of these to my case and really love them. The LED lighting is nice and unoffensive. They are pretty quiet. They move a good amount of air. They aren't too expensive. Overall just a darn good fan. Recommended.
