Pros: I bought this to replace my roommate's old 750gb hard drive that was slow...like seriously slow...her PC would take 10 minutes to be useable after a restart and everything took forever to load. I popped this in her PC installed Windows 10 clean in like 15 minutes or less then transferred her important files from the hard drive to the SSD and wiped the hard drive to use a bulk storage. Not being a tech savvy person she's not impressed that her PC now restarts in about 30 seconds but to me its the difference is light night and day. Maybe someday she'll understand she saved my sanity by buying this SSD.
Cons: It wasn't free so that's a KHHHHHAAAAAANNNN!!
Overall Review: Would buy again 10 out of 10.
Pros: Crucial is Micron, and Micron has a reputation for solid products Fast and reliable stuff Excellent Software Utility
Cons: The "free" migration software only works if it detects a Crucial drive installed internally (can't clone existing laptop system to external USB that way.) The software utility, while great, can be a bit glitchy (clicking through it too fast made it bug-out once.) Products form this company are sometimes a little more expensive than the competition, although premium products can be expected to have a premium price tag sometimes.
Overall Review: Who else provides software that displays explicitly the remaining write potential in an SSD like this? "100% of total drive writes remaining." Nobody else provides that along with the drive, as far as I know. Micron is headquartered in the US and has factories in America actually making things like memory chips. Very few other companies in the industry do. Kingston is one that comes to mind, and of course Intel. Getting the best product while keeping money in the local economy is a great option to have.
Pros: Simple easy install, nothing weird on a Gigabyte Z370 gaming 7. Performance so far has been excellent and very consistent. I'm very happy with it and plan to purchase a few more of these for future builds.
Cons: Only con I can think of is that it's not available in larger capacities.
Overall Review: I've done all the benchmarks and this thing meets or exceeds the higher priced Samsung and it's great to have other options without compromise.
Overall Review: The SSD is great. The Acronis software you're supposed to use to duplicate your existing drive is baffling. It delivers a message that it can only run on a Crucial SSD, but its purpose is to copy your existing drive to the Crucial SSD, so it has to be installed on your existing drive. Asking Crucial for help went nowhere, so I ended up using a cable I already owned which connects a bare drive to a USB port, and duplicated my current drive to the Crucial SSD with free downloaded software called Macrium Reflect which worked flawlessly. Buy the Crucial SSD, ignore the Acronis, get a drive to USB cable, and use Macrium Reflect.
Pros: So far this drive is fast and reliable. All my programs load so much faster.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Replaced a 250GB SSD with this 500GB SSD. This drive is a bit faster than old smaller SSD.
Pros: Much faster than even recent OEM 2.5 hard disk drives Data migration is fast and straightforward Never have had a failure from a Crucial HDD
Cons: You should probably buy a 500g drive instead of 256. 500g from Crucial is a fine choice.
Overall Review: Found out about this product from reading Anandtech's solid state recommendations. This is one of my go to drives when replacing slow HDDs with SSD. You really can't go wrong when replacing a SATA HDD with this unit. I have bought the drives a bit on the small side just because they are for company use that will never need more capacity. Get a 500g for yourself for home use.
Pros: This worked well when the WD Black in my iMac Mid 2010 died. Did a clean install is Sierra and recovered files from Time machine backup. System boots in 10 seconds. Make sure you get the system specific temperature monitoring adapter or your system will either run hot or the fans will be at 100% all the time. This system specific temp monitor is available from OWC. There are instructional videos on the web page and they explain what needs to be done.
Cons: None really.
Overall Review: Recommend this drive.

Overall Review: Wrote a bad review about this after having freezing issues, and doing a lot of research I heard from many sources that Crucial SSD's wouldn't work with AHCI enabled, so that I thought I had to switch to IDE. Instead however, I just had to use the updated windows AHCI driver, rather than the factory one that came with my motherboard. Here are the tips given to me by Crucial: "Crucial Response: Thank you for purchasing the MX500 and for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced freezing issues since installing your new SSD. This can often be resolved by making sure you have the latest AHCI SATA drivers installed for your system. These can be found on your manufacturer's support site. We also cover how to switch to standard Microsoft AHCI drivers in the link below. http://forums.crucial.com/t5/Crucial-SSDs/Replacing-Manufacturer-AHCI-drivers-with-standard-Microsoft-SATA/ta-p/176373 If this does not resolve the freezing issues, or if you have any questions about the process, please contact us using any of the methods below. Thanks to Crucial for fixing my SSD problem -- very satisfied with your product <3
