Owned for over 4 years for gaming, great headphones

Pros: Very lightweight great for long gaming sessions.
Great sound quality.
Lasted for a very long time (4 years, dogs are it finally) with minor problems.
Very comfortable, large pads that dont touch my ears at all.
Padded head rest, not plastic or rubber.
The open war design makes me not have to worry about whether or not the headset had feedback to hear my own voice, a problem I've had on lots of headsets.
Very long cord so you can set it up anywhere
Not loud enough for you microphone to pick up but still plenty loud for your ears
Cord is just a normal 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord so very easily replaceable.
Cheap

Cons: Some of these are personal preferences that dont count as cons to me but might to some people.
Wired, most people these days have wireless everything, but I dont like having to deal with charging or batteries.
Doesn't noise cancel so you cant use it in loud rooms.
Fabric gets lots of hair caught in it.
Plastic clip that holds fabric piece to the plastic piece over the head broke after about a year but was still usable.

Overall Review: Overall this headset is great, I've used it for 4 years until my dogs ate it. I'm going to be buying another one since I cannot find another good, comfortable, and affordable headset like this one. This headset is unrivaled for its price point and is perfect for any casual gamer. You can easily have conversations with people in your room without having to take it off and not very distracting for anyone in the same room as you trying to do something else. This makes a great headset for LAN parties, if people still do that, or for any other reason you might have a headset on while with with other people. Since there is no USB power required, I've even been able to attach a bluetooth dongle into the 3.5mm plug and have the headset be wireless. My friend introduced me to this headset and I fell in love with it ever since, and I'm sure you will too.

Phillips SHP9500 with FiiO K3 dac/amp

Pros: Comfortable ear pads with lots of space for even bigger ears. Under the adjustable headband the padding is the same as the ear pads. Its like a memory foam with nylon stretched over it.

The sound stage does a good job at putting sounds all around a center focus. Like a singer right in front of you and instruments all around you.

Detachable cable can be replaced or swapped out with a boom mic cable like vmoda and if you step on the cable it just pops out instead of being pulled off your head.

Cons: Ear cups can be removed but not easily.

Overall Review: For the comfort alone these are worth buying and if it wasn't for the ear pads not being easily removed for cleaning, I'd say these have better value than headphones 2-3 times the price.

I used to have tritton headset and HyperX Cloud 2's and those maybe had the closed back sound but these headphones still have good bass and theres no fatigue in listening to these.

Lastly I thought I would mention that the sound stage I mentioned might take time to get used to for gaming but its all depending on what you're used to.

Remarkable headphones

Pros: Very clear sound
Detachable cable for mic (have not personally done this yet, however)
Does not require an amp
Excellent price

Cons: (not really a con, just personal taste) Open back, with a modest amount of sound leakage

Overall Review: I bought these after deciding that I wanted better sound quality than what my old Kraken Pro's provided and I must say that I'm quite impressed. I'm no audiophile, however, so my opinion is best taken with a grain of salt.
As for music is concerned, I'm hearing notes that I had previously never known existed (especially drums, bass guitars and orchestral accompaniment) and, as an added bonus, I'm noticing that a lot of deliberate distortion in music (such as guitar overdrive and vocal 'gravel') sound much better.
As far as gaming goes, I'm not seeing too much of a difference, aside from generally clearer sound. It seems that these might even be exposing mediocre or poor sound design in games, I'm not sure. Don't quote me on that.
They sound pretty good even with onboard audio, and a bit better with a SoundBlaster Audigy RX 7.1. I have not tried them with an external DAC/AMP, although I'm not currently convinced that's necessary. It's definitely a matter of preference.
These are open back headphones and behave as such, which if fine if you're into that. There's a bit of sound leakage but I'm generally not one to crank volume around other people anyway, if at all. It might not matter too much to you. I have tested covering both sides with my hands, which absolutely destroys sound quality, so I hesitate to recommend modding these.
While I have not plugged in a mic (such as the popular Vmoda Boom Pro) yet, I would like to at some point as they are purportedly a great combination.
These are very comfortable, even considering that I wear them with glasses. They don't fit too tightly but just enough to stay in place.

The best open-back headphone under $100

Pros: + It's nearly identical to my Philips fidelio X2's, but with slightly less bass. While it's lacking, it just has a more neutral sound.
+ It has a Koss porta pro vibe. Like "these shouldn't sound this good for this much money".
+ The overall performance, soundstage, and clarity competes with cans in the $100-$200 range easily.
+ Good comfort and good construction. Not great, but decent.
+ These headphones work with the v-moda boom mic, so now it's a gaming headset!

Cons: - I'm not wild about the earpad material, but for the price it's acceptable.
- The earcups are almost too big, and they feel "foreign" since I don't really have anything this large.

Overall Review: If you're on the fence when these are on sale, just grab it. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I have the Senns HD 800S to compare (also superlux 681 and 668b and jubilee 58X)

Pros: - Well defined bass, mids and highs, not excellent but really good for the price point. They still for sure shine at the way they present the mids in my opinion (not beefy like some sennheisers but good), probably the highs could be the next stronger frequency group and the bass is probably the most laidback sonic feature on these. I'd give these 9 or 9.5 for mids, 8.5 treble, maybe something between 7/8 for bass.
-Could say this is are at least about 55%-65% (EASILY, if not even closer) the quality in sound you get from the HD 800s (using a fostex hpa4bl amp for both, the HD 800s through balanced output and the SHP9500 through the regular unbalanced jack) and at like 5% (maybe even less than that) of the cost i think it's a no brainer (even while the build is flimsier, not a bad build by any means either). Sonically speaking what i think is the main difference is that the clarity in basically every frequency group is less defined, but it's not much at all, like around 20-25% less clarity at most, maybe even less difference, again for 5% of the price it's a bargain.
-Really comfortable in general in my opinion, pads are fairly soft and feel breathable enough for long listening sessions.
-Respond really well to eq changes (i tried this specially in my phone (still using that 'old' microsoft 950xl) that has eq presets built in).
-Detachable cable (no proprietary shenanigans, just get an aux cable and you are good to go)
-They feel light in general.
-Long cable, if you need a shorter one you can just buy a short aux cable and should be cheaper than to buy a long one if it was not included.

Cons: -The clamping levels are a bit loose but they do stay in place.
-I think the pads might not be that easy to replace and might not be extremely durable but if you care for them i think they should last.
-Not sure how easy it would be to adapt an unbalanced cable to it but it's not an option if you don't mod them.
-Hinge for inward/outward rotation of the cup might be a weak spot for cracking, though it shouldn't be a problem again with regular care of not hitting them hard or bumping them. (hinge is not that visible but it's to the left of the letter 'P' in the philips logo where the headband connects to the cup)
-Plastic materials feel somewhat cheap but somehow feel durable anyway, so not really THAT cheap.
-No way to make them easier to carry around (they dont fold or anything like that).
-No color options if you are into that sort of stuff, i think mostly black colored works really well with any electronic devices anyway.
-My girlfriend said she felt they sounded somewhat low in volume in her phone (she has a moto one or something like that and she maxed out the volume and it was good but not superloud like you would expect) which means that it could be a bit power hungry for some applications, i still feel they are not that hard to drive.
-No case included if you are into that.

Overall Review: -Just an observation i think they look better when you dont look at them from up close. From around 1 meter away they look very nice. (probably the way the R and L are painted on the cups 'affects' this).
-I recommend these 100% unless you are a basshead and can only wear closed back headphones.
